Hello all.I am an an idiot, lost so much money gambling online. I am broke......I am addicted to online gambling. Even though it is illegal in my state of wisconsin, the ?? always take my money. They take my money from my bank debit card, and from my check acct. I also have a click2pay acct. I owe netteler, citadel, and navaho 900 money. I gambled all of miney away. I am filing bankruptcy..all of my credit cards are maxed out......I have some one by the name of joseph, mann and creed contacting me about my debt for citadel......can anyone give me some advice??/ I know what I have done...and i am now paying dearly for it. My husband is shutting of my internet tues, which is a good thing, because i am out of control.....how can they take my money when online gambling is not leagal?? Thank you for any advice.

All i did was put it on my credit card everytime. I believe the credit card and debit card transactions were funded directly. I was never charged a cash advance fee. Does this help my case? Also who should I talk to, got any lawyer firms?

you should really get some help with your gambling addiction because there's nothing good that can happen but trust you will lose every thing and feel sad and regret that you and your family are now homeless over something you could have avoided. and no don't take out a hardship loan from work to pay off your gambling debt then if you really have a hardship then what will you do?

I am clueless on this one, I know my back guarantees any visa transactions, I am closing the account that has this card attached to it. It is out of the way and not convient for me at all anyway. Hopefully someone will come along that has more knowledge on this and give you more guidance. Goodluck and keep us posted.

Here is some more info. I had about 1000 in gambling debt from an online sportsbook. I decided to get it charged back when one of my winning bets was cancelled for no reason. All you have to do is call up your bank's chargeback department. You can tell them anything. Tell them you never authorised the charges or never made the charges. They will put in a dispute and the vendor will have nothing (signature or paper trail wise) to give them to show the charge was legit.

you don't have to consider which is your best option--you just need to make it clear that you will not pay for illegal gambling transaction and demand debt validation--and make sure credit reporting agencies know name of company who you disputed illegal debt with--whoever broke the law and coded the transactions as something other than gambling--took the risk factor and lost--when you chose to challenge it.. and that is the way it will be until the U.S. declares online gambling transactions to be legal and until the U.S. determines that these transactions are legal-any collection co who attempts collection is attempting to collect an illegal debt and should be reported to anyone you can think of--whoever keeps processing these transactions is breaking the law! No wonder people keep playing if they know they don't have to pay if they choose not to do so!

Was wondering if you had some more detailed info on this, I have about $18,000 in cc charges all in last couple of months. I have started the chargeback process through wamu and citicards but the feedback I get from them is that these charges were made by me and they won't hold up in a dispute. They were all miscoded transactions and I have never sent any paperwork to these sites to verify. Do I really have a chance at recovering these?

I cannot speak for credit cards but i can speak for debit cards.... when calling over the phone my bank would do nothing but when going into the local branch and me signing an affadavit of dispute they 3 times reversed the charges.

I guess what I am trying to ask here, should I just take the dispute forms fill them out for each transaction, and trust that when citibank and wamu send them through to the merchants (again these are all falsely coded there were even a couple of them that came through as a florist) that the merchants can't challenge and the money will be charged back. Or do I need to do something else like get a lawyer and go after my cc companies (I would like to avoid this at all costs). According to some posts on this forum these are illegal transactions that can't be validated, bam no questions asked money returned. When I talked to the fraud department at Wamu the lady was reaming me out for trying to charge back something that I initiated, which believe me has me sick to my stomach as I do accept the responsibility of having an addiction and not being able to stop. I am getting some outside help with my addiction and vow never to do it again. I do however am very aware that not only was I preyed upon by these sites, but these sites were really not fair and ripped me off. I also had not had access to cards for some years now because of a similiar incident of which I payed dearly for and obviously didn't learn my lesson. When I learned that these transactions would not go through anymore I again got some cards for emergencies and peace of mind , Oh boy did that back fire. Thanks for any information regarding this, I am really unable to sleep or relax and am really hoping I can recoup this, never gamble again and get back to a real life!!

depending on the bank but you should be able to just fill out the dispute forms and that will be it.

Hi there,

This is a shot in the dark, but I figured I'd try. In 2004 my dad died (I was 19). I got about $50,000 and I blew about $20,000 gambling online. All of the charges were directly through PartyP0ker. What are the odds I could sue to recover (or sue and settle)? I begged PartyP0ker to suspend/block me but they wouldn't.

Would it be possible to get any of this back?

I'm really sorry to hear of your loss Brian, I know what it is like to loose a parent at a young age (my mother). As for the 20k you spent. If gambling is illegal in your state you might be able to, but you'd probably have to pay some fines for doing so. I would suggest consulting with a attorney about this before going any further.

hey morozov, my bank just sent me a dispute affidavit to fill out. In the past I just had to type up a letter and send it in. Now that they're using a legal document should I be worried about the bank coming after me for fraud if they found out that I initiated these charges and I'm just trying to get my money back?

Some of the transactions go back to July and I'm sure they'll want to know why I waited so long to dispute the charges. Not sure what my response should be.
Thanks for the help

Well it seems as though wamu(visa) will not chargeback the miscoded transactions, after putting me through an extensive process they determined there wasn't enough evidence so apparently never sent verification to merchants. Citibank (MC) just did the chargebacks right away, no questions asked. I know that the merchants cannot fight back the chargebacks, so what else can I do to get wamu to do a chargeback? I originally disputed that they were not authorized and mentioned that they were miscoded. Any help here would be appreciated. I am no longer gambling, and never will again, getting this money back will really help in my recovery.
