Any suggestions on what to say to the new creditor when they call tomorrow?

I would send them a debt validation request via certified mail with return receipt request. This way you will have proof that the new CA has received your letter. If you need a letter example, you can find one in the Do it yourself section of the forum.

great!! I will do that, where do I get the address of the creditor. On the caller ID it said, opinionresearch and had the number 480-588-0743. When I talked to the guy he refused to give an address or tell me the name of the collection agency.

You may contact the company providing their VOIP service at their website; pacwest.com or here:

Since the man would not ID himself or varify his legal company name I wouldn't worry to much about him. In the meantime, I'm tracking down opinionresearch for you, it may take a while longer.

To be honest, I am not really worried about this debt because the SOL in MO is already passed. What should I do to stop them since the SOL is past? I will send the DV letter or maybe something else?

OK... I know I must look real bad here, but what letter should I use to make my point that the SOL has run out and that the original amount was way more than ANY bill I had ever received from the phone company? I feel stupid but I am new to this.
Also, where would I ask questions about what the CA have reported on my credit report?
thanks in advance!

You say the SOL is up, so your ahead of it there so far. If your wanting to settlke it, get a copy of your credit report, check whats on it versus the paperwork from teh collections people, then go hammer SBC & settle it with them. Don't let them (SBC) give you the "it's too late" story.
okie dokie? hope this helped ya!
Thanks that really does help. I will send it certified mail tom
Thanks that really does help. I will send it certified mail tomorrow. I did call SBC today and they said it was for long distance calls (i had long distance blocked because it was free from my cell phone). They also said that they don't keep records for more than 6 months and that I should just pay. I told them to forget it because of the SOL and I didn't make those calls. I hope that I don't get sued over this, but I would think that they would have to show some sort of proof.
well, you said that name, opinionresearch came up on your caller
well, you said that name, opinionresearch came up on your caller ID with the number, thats as far as I could get with it using a free directory service. If you still do not have any luck, let me know!
