I have disputed a debt from South Western Bell phone company for over 4 years now. The 5 collection agency that is calling now is really getting on my nerves. They call and have a recorded message that says if you continue to listen then they assume you are the person. Well, they have my name spelled incorrectly for the debt, but they do have the right ssn. Also, when I lived at the student housing for single parents, I was on state aid and only had a phone bill of like $20 a month. My phone would also be cut off if it hit $150, but the debt is over $900. So I have disputed that the debt is for the wrong name and amount not to mention I did not live at the residence in november of 2001 when they say the debt was last paid. I moved out in sept 2001 and someone else moved in almost immediately. It seems that even after I dispute it, the debt moves on to another CA.

Any suggestions on what to say to the new creditor when they call tomorrow?

smf8261; the phone (480) 588-0743 that touched you originates from *PAC WEST TELECOMM* located in Phoenix, AZ.
You may contact the company providing their VOIP service at their website; pacwest.com or here:

Corporate Office
Pac-West Telecomm, Inc.
4210 Coronado Avenue
Stockton, CA 95204
1-800-722-9378

Since the man would not ID himself or varify his legal company name I wouldn't worry to much about him. In the meantime, I'm tracking down opinionresearch for you, it may take a while longer.

They can run, but they can't hide

thanks for looking up the information, but that suggests they are a market research company? what do you think?

To be honest, I am not really worried about this debt because the SOL in MO is already passed. What should I do to stop them since the SOL is past? I will send the DV letter or maybe something else?

OK... I know I must look real bad here, but what letter should I use to make my point that the SOL has run out and that the original amount was way more than ANY bill I had ever received from the phone company? I feel stupid but I am new to this.

Also, where would I ask questions about what the CA have reported on my credit report?

thanks in advance!

Naw, ya don't look bad! Mishele suggested this letter here : http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/validation.html

You say the SOL is up, so your ahead of it there so far. If your wanting to settlke it, get a copy of your credit report, check whats on it versus the paperwork from teh collections people, then go hammer SBC & settle it with them. Don't let them (SBC) give you the "it's too late" story.

okie dokie? hope this helped ya!

Thanks that really does help. I will send it certified mail tomorrow. I did call SBC today and they said it was for long distance calls (i had long distance blocked because it was free from my cell phone). They also said that they don't keep records for more than 6 months and that I should just pay. I told them to forget it because of the SOL and I didn't make those calls. I hope that I don't get sued over this, but I would think that they would have to show some sort of proof.
