How do I make these people go away? They are harrassing me at work and calling my boss. In December I took out a $200 loan for which they wanted $80 in interest. I then discovered this forum and that they (I live in CA) were only legally entitled to $30 interest. I paid them $230. They weren't happy about that. On Jan 7th I received an email from their collections department saying they wanted more money. I emailed them saying I had paid them. Now today they are calling me and my boss saying I owe them $500!! "Chris" told me that if I paid $150 they would mark my account closed. He then said I could pay $125~!
What do I do to get these people off my back. I've told them I've filed complaints with the AG, that they aren't legal in CA etc etc.

I can't have them calling my boss at work! I'm back to feeling sick :(

Did you send them a cease and desist letter? If not respond to their e-mail with a cease and desist letter. Tell them that you will only communicate with them through e-mail or the USPO. Tell them that you need them to do this so that you have proof of their contact with you, and if they continue to call you at work and call your boss, that you will have to look into what type of legal recourse that you have. Also make sure that you report them to the FTC, the BBB and your AG.

This is the original creditor, so a cease and desist letter won't apply to them, they won't have to follow your request. They will however have to abide by your request to stop calling your place of employment but you need to put that in writing and verbalize this to them when and if they contact your work again.

There is always legal recourse.Since they are orginal creditor, you would need to look at state laws and codes related to collecting in house debt & harassment. My first stop would be a fully documented complaint to the attorney general.Once ag finds out that their interest is illegal and they are abusing customers, they should start their own investigation and get this taken care of.In complaint send copies of anything you have related to the business relatonship you have with them.(emails, loan docs, receipts, bank statements with personal info removed)

I have posted on them before. You will find a lot of information on what a scam that company is by searching them here. I defaulted on a loan with the in October and it took until late December for them to quit calling. All I can say is to try and wait it out. They will not stop no matter what you do. I sent letters to the BBB, had an attorney send them letters and had my boss telll them not to call.

Definately report them for violation of fair debt collection law to the attorney general in your state and file a complaint with the FTC also, you can do all of this online, they will contact the company about this matter. Make sure you put the account number in the complaint so that when they call GSFIL they can't act ignorant to your account. I had a loan, paid them off and now they call me trying to get me to take another. I am about payday loan free and plan to stay that way, working on 4, got a payment plan with each and on my way out of this mess.

First thing you will need to do is stop the ACH on your account, You can do this by sending them a letter with your account number and tell them you revoke the ach on your checking account, include your checking account number in the letter. At the same time you should send them a revocation of voluntary wage assignment, just in case they slipped this in there on you. That way they can not touch you pay check.
What state are you from? You will need to know this to determine if you are entitled to a refund. Please let us know what state you are from?

Perry it was me that posted. I forgot to sign in!
As to the Fair Debt Collection Act or whatever it is called I thought that applied only to 3rd party collectors such as collection agencies?

As far as I am concerned I paid these people back in December WHEN my loan was due. I took out a $200 loan and paid them back $230 which included the LEGAL amount of interest here in CA.

By the way on a positive note I have paid off all my payday loans. NEVER AGAIN! Now if I could just get GFSIL off my back.......the worst thing is them phoning my boss. SO totally embarassing.

Has ANYONE has any luck in stopping these people calling? They are back to calling me again at work and harassing me. I paid them back the original $200 I owed them plus the legal interest in CA of $30 . They say I owe them varying amounts from 358 to over 500. I can't even understand the latest woman that has called me. She was totally unintelligble and just kept yelling at me. I'm at my wit's end with these people.

I told them that I had reported them to my attorney for harrassment and that they owed me over 1000.00. I also ept e-mailing them to pay me what they owe me. I did report them to the ag here in Ohio and to the FTC and everytime that I emailed gfsil I cc both of the gov. agencies. The last time I heard from them was when I told them that I had talked to my attorney and they were to contact him, I gave them his name and phone mumber. Of course it was my bk attorney but he did tell me to do this. Just keep reporting them, tell them that they are harrassing you and keep e-mailing them. See if that works.

Have you guys sent them letters to stop contacting you at work yet, simply telling them won't work. You need to compose a letter and include the fdcpa law, send it to them certified, let them know they are breaking the law or simply remind them of it, then you have proof when you do sue them.

Fedup, with these people it really doesn't matter if you send them a letter - they have numerous addy's and some are only call centers. I got them by e-mailing a few times a day and reporting them to Homeland Security ICE. I registered a complaint under cyber crimes. The people that used to call me barly spoke English so I am not sure that they could read a letter at any rate. I have not heard from them in a while now, so I don't know if my efforts paid off. I just wish that they would refund me the 1k+ that I over paid. But not having them calling me is a big plus.
