Anyone still dealing with GFSIL? I believe I have found the way to finally get them off your back.

First off some background: I received a $200 PDL from them in early December. I paid them well over $500 and then it got so bad that one of their checks bouced my bank and from that moment it was a free-for-all. They tried processing multiple payments of different denominations using different names until I was forced to close my account $800+ in the negative. They threatened me at work, spoke to my co-workers, left harassing voice mails. This is when I started recording my conversations with them. I have copies of the "we will file for wage garnishment" and "you missed your payment and we will call your boss and tell him all about your illegal fraud practices" voicemails. As for the live recordings, I ask not to be called at work beacuse my employer doesnt allow personal calls(at first he said I will call you wherever and whenever I want until you pay, then on a call later that day he said he would block my work number...only to unblock it two weeks later.) I also have them refusing to send me any paperwork, as well as saying they dont have to be licensed in my state or follow any federal or state laws. I took the advice of the forum and also branched out a little and here are my results:
1.) Filed a complaint with the BBB of Indiana. I received an email back saying they have made numerous attempts to contact GFSIL but received no reply (and went on to say how that would just give them a bad report in the BBB database.
2.) Contated the Indiana Attorney General. The guy I spoke with told me he could not help me beacuse it was an internet company and that he had never heard of such a business as internet PDL's(you would think if someone is doing illegal/unlicensed business in a state whether online or not, the AG would have a small problem with that). The only thing he did was refer me to the FTC...which brings me to my next section.
3.) Filed a complaint with the FTC. The woman I spoke with told me she couldn't help me and that I would need to contact the Indiana AG (you can imagine my frustration at this point). I did call the AG back but he gave me the same runaround.

By this point, GFSIL told me if I did not pay them another $300 on my next payday they would put me on an auto-system where I would be called at work every hour, and if I hung up, they would repeatedly call back. Here's where I started making progress:
4.) Filed formal complaints with the Nevada Division of Financial Institutions in Carson City as well as Reno/Las Vegas(can't remember which city it was). I faxed them my bank statemnt, the links to the audio recordings I have with the company, as well as copies of all complaints filed.

About 4+ weeks have passed without a phone call. I followed up with the DFI in Nevada and they told me the case had been forwarded to the Nevada AG. I then spoke with the person dealing specifically with GFSIL and he couldnt go into much detail beacuse there is an open, ongoing investigation, but I did find out it was forwarded to their office because of so many complaints filed. He said that the Reno address isnt even a call center, it is strictly a mail drop and they work only out of the UK which leaves some loopholes. Thankfully those loopholes are getting smaller by the day.
Monday, I filed(or rather my lawyer) a small claims suit against GFSIL involving their illegal practice, illegal collection methods, and some other lawyer talk that went over my head. Seeing as how their not licensed in my state, there is no question I will win my suit the second it goes before the judge. Then the tables will turn on who owe's who!

I am paying off my last storefront PDL today to Check Into Cash(which by the way has been great, they gave me three extra pay periods to take care of it instead of taking me to court or sending me to a collections agency. It's nice to see the light. Good luck everyone and PM me if you have any questions about GFSIL...I think i might have a B.S. degree in that department by now! : )

They are a bunch of clowns. Because they are operating illegally from England they can't do anything but threaten. They are very creative when it comes to new scare tactics. The auto dialer is a new one. I just called them names and laughed at them. They just gave up and went away. I did file complaints with all the usual agencies however. The also go by the name of Route 66 funding. I am surprised that the woman from the FTC was not helpful. I found just the opposite.

GFSIL and I went round for round for months...They have stopped bothering me. That complaint to Nevada really helped because they were ordered to stop using that as their lending address and they were fined a ton of money( I believe that was you Frog who provided me with that info and then I found it later that day!)

LOL...well I wasn;t around then but I got the same thing...maybe its my pregnancy hormones..I don't remember if I was like that before! But, to get back on track...I am pretty sure it was you and I really valued that info because they are on the top of my list of PDL places to take down!

GFSIL keeps calling me at work. I took out a PDL with them in July 2006. It was a $200 loan. I paid them well over $800 on this loan. I sent them a letter in January 2007. Now they are calling me again. They will only call me back at work. They will not give me anything in writing. I told them I was not going to pay them anything more money. They said that they will garnish my wages. I told them to get a court order to garnish my wages then but they just keep trying to get me to settle. They also wanted to talk to my boss. All they do is thearten me. What is your advise to get them to stop calling me?

mlroberts, go to this link - http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/gfsil-rovinge.html

I too am dealing with GFS. Do they have access to your bank account? If so, close it! They charged me under 3 different names - GFS, GFSIL, and ROVINGE. They began calling my work once they found out I had closed my checking account. I kept hanging up on them & my co-worker knows my situation and hung up on them as well or told them I didn't work here anymore. They have not called my office or my cell for atleast a week. However, they do continue to send me "payment reminders" about when my loan extension $ is coming due. Everytime they email me, I send them this -

Quote:

TO CHRIS WILSON OR WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

I am informing you that I WILL NOT be paying GFS/GFSIL/ROVINGE any more money. Please mark my account PAID IN FULL, I do not owe $290, in accordance with state and federal laws, I have ALREADY PAID MY LOAN OFF. I have filed a complaint with Homeland security, the FTC and my Attorney General of Florida, and they have all been informed that GFS/GFSIL/ROVINGE is NOT liscensed to lend in the United States, period!

Also, this is a notice under provisions of federal law, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (fdcpa), to cease all communication with me in regard to the debt referenced above.

Sincerely,

Jenny

So, you could try a few of those tactics, I dont know if theyve given up on me already (that was a short fight if they have) or if this is the calm before the storm.

I am dealing with this company now, and they are using all those tactics on me too. They refuse to give me their physical address, saying only they are in London. They only call me at work and are calling me about 20 times a day. They have threatened to harass my references and my supervisor until I agree to their settlement terms. My loan was $200 now they are threatening to have my wages garnished for $3500. I don't know what to do...

let your HR person in on this, they need a court order to garnish wages.some HR people let it through, wage assignments are totally revokable.they have as much chance of getting a court order as i do of becoming queen of england.

Seems we have all had unfortunate dealings with this company. I had paid them well over 1200 plus for a 200.00 loan and was advised at that point, by an atty. to change my bank account number and ask them for a statement of account. Well, as we all know, they can't produce one because they farm it out. The annoying phone calls come from India. The names they use are absurd and common and they think that will intimidate the person with average intelligence. I took this loan and paid it off, well over 2 years ago and the calls stopped. As of 2 months ago, they started again, calling at home, on my cell, at my work, etc. I reported them, and even put them on the DO NOT CALL list. Their tactic is to wear you down until you give in. Well, as of this coming September, I will no longer be working where I was when I took the loan, so they can call all they want at work. They have been informed they are on the DO NOT CALL list and that they are not allowed to call at work, home, or on the cell, as per the State Atty. General. They really don't care and do as they please. Whoever is suing them and taking them to court, if you have a "real" address, I would love it. Maybe a joint action suit would finally solve everyone's dilemma.

I am going to say this over and over again if I have to. GFSIL aka Route 66 funding aka BIG Ltd is operating out of the UK. The ONLY way of dealing with them is too ignore them and hang up on them until they give up. Like the ad says "just say no." They have nothing in writing and claim you were recorded but that is probably more lies. You can file all the complaints you want but they are offshore and can't be found by any agency or attorney. The Reno address in a mail box service.

They are continuing to call, even though they have been listed on the DO NOT CALL list and reported. Tactic now is call on home phone, get no answer, hang up, call on cell phone, hang up, call work number and get put through to voicemail and leave threating messages. I know they can't do anything and if they choose to waste their time, so be it. I am seriously thinking of changing all phone numbers, but then again, why should I be inconvenienced for them? I have asked previously, for a statement of account from them. We all know there is none. I have told them, per my atty, that they must put it in writing. Again, nothing. I will continue to ignore them and eventually they will give up. Just a matter of time.

I have read all the blogs regarding GFSIL. I just want to know have anyone beaten them yet? Has anyone had a situation where they just stopped calling? I too have been threatened as far as garnishments, calling my supervisor, charging me 180.00 dollars to find out her acct. information and taking the money from her acct., and calling me all day at work until I pay.

the only way to stop this illegal UK pdl is to close your current account and open a new one.yes after 1 year of 68.00 debits.they go way more than the 200.00.
