cannr....please, no suicide attempts!!! :( I would email them back and tell them that you didn't agree to anything and their "settlement" offer is CRAP!! I would follow that with once again reminding them of your state's laws and the fact that they are loaning illegally.
What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another. Just because morningstarr counter-offered and got them down to what she agreed to pay doesn't mean that you should do that too. I am happy for EVERYONE that has success getting rid of these things, whether they fight until they get PIF letters, they counter offer a settlement, or they use a consolidation company. It takes strength to deal with these companies at all!!! :):) Hang in there, cannr, and tell MTE to take their settlement offer and shove it.

OK Im going to put my cannr hat on now - don't you settle with them. You don't owe them another red cent. I really believe they think we are idiots and if they yell loud enough or counter with enough BS we will break and pay them just to make them go away. Hang Tough Cannr, I'm right behind you, remember I said I'm leaving all of the MTE and AKA (other MTE's) for last so you are my trend setter. Go Get Em!
thanks
Okay, you guys have now lit the fire under my ass! I'm going to email them tonight, so I don't have to get all riled up at work tomorrow! I'll drag all my stuff out AGAIN. Email them AGAIN. And tell them the same thing AGAIN. Lord have mercy! How many times do you have to do this??? These guys must have a chalk board in their big call center room. The chalk board has all their CSR names on it and for every CSR that drives someone to enter an insane asylum, they get a star or something. I swear to God. That's got to be their game plan!

Mperez, you sound just like cannr!
Cannr, don't you dare give in to them. They know plain well you didn't agree to their settlement they are just playing you girl. They are hoping you get frazzled and send it anyway. DO NOT DO IT! Email them, tell them to drop dead (probably want to do it somewhat professional though if you need to use this for backup with any organizations). I don't think BITE ME will look to good to the BBB or anyone else. Although, it says it well!
response
Thank you. And I won't back down. However, I am sooo close to pulling what they did to me. When they sent me their email in the big bold letters stating WE ARE NOT THIS COMPANY. DO NOT CONTACT US AGAIN. WE WILL NOT RESPOND TO YOUR EMAILS. Wouldn't it be great if I sent them an email stating that??? I will try to control myself though. But if it gets down to it, I do believe I might have to send an email stating that I am not who I am and not to email me anymore. LOL! See how they like it!
Cannr...go ahead and fight...you do it so much better than I. I
Cannr...go ahead and fight...you do it so much better than I. I could spare the 100 just to get rid of that one...but that doesn't mean I will do it for everyone!! You are an inspiration to us all...just copy and paste the same email and keep sending it..
thank you
Thank you, morningstarr. And everyone else! You know I always come here first to get my advice, then act on a response to these morons! You guys all give me the energy to fight AGAIN! Thank you! I'll be sending them their stupid email and just forward it over and over and over - like I already have - until they tell me to go away again! LOL!
One Click Cash
I already received a response from my email to One Click Cash. Two responses actually. One said they couldn't "open" it (it was a forwarded email that I previously sent them telling the same crap over again). So they can't "open" that. Whatever. I'll send the damn thing again. Then the other - in response to me saying the same thing over again regarding laws, how much I paid, they are illegal - they say "We will see this as a refusal of our settlement, and your account will now continue per the contract." Okay. Here we go. Around in another circle. What gets me is that "continue per the contract", according to them, is turning me over to collections for $400. I told them in my email that I would find it very interesting how they came up with the figure of $400 on a $250 loan which was paid $256.64. I don't know WHY I let them get to me so much. As their contract is CRAP in my state. Like I said, here we go around in the MTE circle again. I'm on a merry-go-round......

Cannr-be strong!!! These idiots WILL go down!! If I were you, anytime I received an e-mail from them, or some kind of "offer", I would just copy and paste the same response repeating what we've been telling them (illegal in our state, contract ain't worth the paper it's written on, etc.), send it off and forget it. They hope if they keep annoying us, we'll eventually break down. Don't let it happen!

I know it sucks being ran around in circles, but they are just hoping you will tire of this and give in to them. You know they can't do crap to collect on this loan. So what are they going to do to you? NOTHING! Because they can't! There is not reason to stop fighting them - you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
Thank you
Thank you guys. I know you're right. I just keep having this NIGHTMARE of them "coming after me" with "fraud" charges or something along those lines. I just do not feel "safe" against these pdl's. They are making my life a living hell. It's REALLY bringing me down. I resent all my emails to them again. Just for the hell of it.

Cannr-how can they bring fraud charges against us?
Is this even possible?
jen
jen, you're asking me? I'm totally freaking out here! I know in my mind that they are not even friggin legal here! I know in my mind their contracts are not enforceable here. I know in my mind that any collection efforts would be fruitless because the DFI doesn't even recognize these pdl's as a debt. So why the hell am I freaking out so much??? Because they keep throwing the word FRAUD in my face. I'm scared to friggin death. Can someone help and explain it to us in plain simple english?? Please! If they're illegal, if they're not licensed, if they can't even proceed to collect legally - can they claim fraud? My head is about to fall off.
No - They cannot claim fraud. Well, technically they can, but t
No - They cannot claim fraud. Well, technically they can, but they can't prove fraud. I know you've kept very good records cannr, and can prove that you have done everything in your power to try and work things out with these companies.
But they are just trying to scare you. They aren't going to to crap. Seriously, I heard this at least 7 times when I was going through my mess. Nothing happened to me at all.

Oh, morningstarr, thank you for your post! That is the FIRST time I laughed today! Horrible, horrible pdl day! And you posted that and I just cracked up! Thank you for making me laugh! You're an angel!

sass
Thanks, sass. If I can sleep tonight, it'll be a total miracle! I've had visions of dancing pdl's in my head all day long! Now I'll have nightmares of getting arrested for fraud! These people really know how to get to you! However, I've decided - I'm going to copy ALL my crap (God.....you know how much crap that is?) and I'm going to put one summary sheet on top. Then I'm going to mail it to the AG and the DFI. I've already filed complaints with them, but this stuff is amazing that's happened since I filed. So, I do believe they need an update. And, of course, they need the emails I've received from these morons showing where they tell me to go away - yet I am confused - yet I won't cooperate. Oh Lordy. So, that's my next step. Won't the AG and DFI be thrilled to get this HUGE stack of mail? I really feel sorry for them, but I feel as though they need to see this crap that these people are pulling. Documentation, baby. I've got it.
They definitely need to see all of your documentation. That is t
They definitely need to see all of your documentation. That is the only way that the AG and DFI are going to know, if they are told. You will sleep. Just lay down and think about something else. I know it's easier said than done. I lost so much sleep over these pdl's but think about how much better off you are now than you were when you first came here and that should make you smile and give you pleasant thoughts. :)

OMG not at all!! I love the old sitcoms, especially from the 80's....I should make a thread about them in the Pub.....don't want the original posts about pdl's to get lost in our chat about tv :)

Okay...so what about someone like me, who still owes them money, but NOT the amount they are asking for? They say I owe them $510.00 for a $300.00 loan! So far I have paid them $180.00 in rollover fees (which are not permitted in Florida) and I DON'T HAVE COPIES OF MY DOCUMENTS (even though I have requested them!) I know that they aren not legal and that they can't legally do anything, but the simple fact is, I don't want this reporting to the credit bureaus. I am more than willing to pay the $120.00 or whatever that I owe, but I AM NOT paying $510.00! I have asked for my loan documents several times, and to no avail. I have called, emailed, and tried to send them a certified letter, but it came back. What is a good address for them? I have also filed the complaints with the FLorida Department of Financial Regulation, but they are no help at all! HELP!!

buble, mail/fax/mail your letter stating they are illegal, blah, blah. Their fees are illegal, blah, blah. You only owe xxxx dollars. Here is the information I have on them. Maybe it's different than what you have:

buble, same "form letter" I've received a million times from my MTE pdl's. Let me just say this. They are illegal. They are not licensed in your state. They are not licensed in their state. They should not even be extending loans period. They are breaking all kinds of laws. I personally did not "settle" with any of them. As, I had overpaid my loans as it was, and I was not about to give them another penny. They are charging you "fees" that are illegal. They are nuts. I turned them down. They sent another "form letter", blah, blah. They haven't contacted me again; however, they did still continue to attempt to debit my bank account. Actually, they still are attempting to debit my bank account for ungodly amounts of money. Not what I "really owe" them or anything. They just keep trying to hit the account for over $500. So.... you can make your own decision regarding if you want to settle with them or not. If you decide not to, they'll send you another "form letter" and then basically ignore you while trying to continue to debit your account.
I understand that they are illegal. But I DO owe them money. $12
I understand that they are illegal. But I DO owe them money. $120.00 is what I have left on the loan to pay. I offered to pay that amount and they flat out said no. It's not like I'm trying to get out of paying what I owe, but I cannot afford to pay any thing more than what I owe! Especially $70.00 more than what I owe. They are telling me that if I do not accept the offer, they will start collections for $510.00! Luckily, my checking account that they would try to debit from is closed so they wouldn't get anything. I am wondering if I should just start sending them payments until I pay the $120.00 or what.
reply
buble, you do whatever you think is right. You can legally not pay a penny. You can pay the $120 and consider yourself "even" with them. They will argue with you either way. I swear. They won't be happy with either choice you make (somethings wrong with them!). So, whichever you decide to do, it's entirely up to you. As long as they can't debit your account any longer. And they want you to Money Gram or Western Union your payment. I personally do not agree with this. But, that is just me. You can mail in money orders to their physical address certified with return receipt if you want to.
I think that is what I may do. I'll just send them a money order
I think that is what I may do. I'll just send them a money order for $120.00 which is what I legally owe them. If they don't like it, then that is their tough luck. I am NOT paying them $510.00 or $210.00 from me! I also sent all of my responses from them to my contact at the Department of Financial Regulation and she said she has sent them a letter regarding my complaint. I also sent her a copy of my loan documents from them. She said that it will take some time, but if I needed legal assistance, I should get an attorney? Do you guys think it will get that far?

Bubble, I really doubt it will get that far, they are illegal, so any chance that they are going to try to get a Court involved is pretty much nonexistant. Don't worry about that.

If you feel compelled to pay them the $120.00 that you legally owe them that is great. However, do you even have a legit address for them. I would send them a cashiers check from your bank or credit union. Those are alot easier to trace instead of money orders. But that is just my idea.
There is also a post about them that someone just spoke with the state of nebraska department of finance. That man stated they are sending them a cease and desist order because of other complaints they have received in regards to them. Apparently they claim they are in Nebraska.
You might consider contacting the Department of Finance for the State of Nebraska to lodge your complaint.

Yeah, or at least file with both. Every state needs to get on MTE. And shut them down! If you just file with another state that has already "noticed" the problem with them, it won't help your state. Cannr, you are right, CA & OK have both sent cease and desist letters to MTE.

goudah, I included copies of the C&D letters from CA and OK in with my complaints to my state AG. I wanted them to see what kind of company MTE is. I think that helped, since they then contacted the AG of Oklahoma! Thank goodness for this site. I saw the C&D letters on here and printed them out!

One Click Cash is also "AcceptMyCash.com"
The Carson City, NV is bad; the attorney general's office in NV confirmed it as being a mail drop. Also, check out the Better Business Bureau site and search "acceptmycash.com" (the address seems to no longer being used). Furthermore, Domains by Proxy just dropped their privacy protection on the domain and revealed a Nebraska address; however, their site is being hosted in the United Kingdom, which is known for this type of behavior. The attorney general's office told me that many cash scams are originating from the United Kingdom.
