I am a foodie...I love talking about food, reading about food, watching it on TV and of course consuming food. About mid-day I start thinking of what I am going to have for dinner.

So tell us, whats for dinner tonight in your home?

All I know is I'm going to all of your houses and eat dinner. Soup and crackers. Chili and crackers. Okay, I'm really bored with it now! Although, I ate like there was NO TOMORROW while I was gone! God love my mother! We ate out every meal every day. Lord. I was almost to the point of not wanting to eat again! But.... that didn't last long! LOL!

LOL, that would be hilarious! This thread makes me hungry, and I just had breakfast! A nice, chalky Slimfast bar and some fruit.... yum.

I vote for a recipe thread where people can post quick, easy, healthy (for us watching our girlish figures..heh-heh) recipes. That way, we can snag some ideas during the week.

My DH usually does the cooking (he wanted to, so I let him), but he's in Atlanta for 3 weeks, so I have to make the effort to cook because of the little one. If it were just me, I'd be living on soup and cereal.

Ahhh... frog, you're killing me. I LOVE banana bread!

I'll have to find this recipe thread, I didn't know there was already one in place. Looks like hubby is going to be traveling a lot now, so I'm going to have to get with the cooking program. It's been so long since I cooked on a regular basis that he doesn't think I'm capable anymore!!!!

I used to work with girls that used to eat out every day. EVERYDAY! and you couldnt find anything for under 5 bucks in downtown Orlando! figure almost 10 bucks a lunch.. 50 bucks a week.. OMG! that is groceries or gas for me.
if I want real cheap , and somewhat, decent, I sometimes go and get those Mcdonald snackers. grilled chicken in the wrap.
1.29..tide me over till dinner.

I just read something in the recent Woman's World issue called the Fast Food diet for busy moms, and they give options for you to choose from some of the big fast food chains like McD's, BK, Wendy's etc. Some researcher at a big university came up with it, and the people who tried it out lost weight, and their blood, cholesterol levels were all good. I guess it works out to be 1,400 calories a day if you're trying to lose, or there is a version that works out to be 2,000 calories a day if you're trying to maintain.

Hmmmm.... maybe it does work, but I'm sure it's not going to help one's wallet!!

no joke. my friend and I were talking about how we need to eat better and less fatty stuff, and such, and it is so expensive to eat good and eat really healthy, organic, and fresh food.
I would think the potato chips should cost more than a bad of potatos. Or all those high preservatives should cost more than a healthy basket of salad, and fruit items..
I almost feel like I am about forced to buy crap to survive & feed a family of 4 for 2weeks.

100bucks just doesnt get much these days.

lorim-Saw on Frogs other post about you being from NC...I travel to CLT/NC often for business and I was so amazed to see how inexpensive (by California standards) that I thought the food was. :? Damn, for $100 here, its ground beef, pastas and bread for 3 people.
And you know, I agree 100% with you...processed foods SHOULD cost more and Fresh food should cost less.

Its disgusting and thts exactly what those menus are for. Convenience foods have taken over...and the nutrition value is low and salt/fat is high.

I almost fell over the other day in the frozen food section of the store when I saw a bag with some beef, potato and carrot w/sauce that you dump into a crock pot. COME ON! The whole point of the crock pot is to have a homecooked fresh meal at the end of the day, not frozen crap.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I actually bought it once to see what it was like, and DH was not impressed. He said the same as you, crock pot is for fresh ingredients, not frozen stuff.

Not only was that frozen crockpot stuff expensive, it only made like 2 servings even though it said it made more.

yea the dollar menus are good when the kids are with you and you want to go and get the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers.. LOL but not to live off of.

Yeppers good ol NC --- it is ok , in comparsion to FL prices. I mean we ate chicken alot in FL , even the ground beef was expensive. I tried to shop at Walmart or Sams, since the prices are pretty universal there.
though I was more healthy conscience down there.

Here in NC it is a biscuit and gravy world. (yuck) the more lard the better.. haha (kidding)

hey.. now I have tried those crockpot in a bag..they were horrible, but I did try the chicken and dumplings.. and my kids loved it. it was ok, not like homemade, but it wasnt too bad, and Winn Dixie had them like 2 for 5.00 or 2 for 6.00 and a 1.00 off coupon was on the freezer door, so I got 2 bags and it took 2 bags for my hungry crew, hey it was worth a try ... I would get it again if it was on sale like that and I got 2 bucks off............

oh yea the sodium is really high. I couldnt eat it all the time.
even my diet coke , looking at cal free, fat free, and carb free. 40 mg of sodium.. geez.

I like that too.. I like a good roast, with garlic, onions, and bay leaves then some liptons golden onion soup mix, and mushrooms, then some brown gravy..

over mash potatos or jasmin rice.

yum yum good.
and all I got here is a stupid diet coke.
