As of 1/26, I am officially in PDL default. I contacted Destination Debt Solutions and while the montly payment (around 500.00 for 12 months) is a lot less than the $1100 i was spending in pdl fees, it still amounts to a little $2,000.00 more than my total debt.
Has anyone else done this? Is is worth it?

Hi Sqantt,

welcome to the Community.

More than your debt?! No, it doesn't sound worth it to me. You can do it yourself for free.

What is the name of the PDL company? Online or storefront? What state do you live in? Have they sent your account to a collection agency? How much was your original loan? How much have you paid on it?

Thanks,

chrys

You can sign up on this Community, and one of our financial coaches can contact you and discuss your debt situation in detail. At least shop around a bit.

The PDLs often ignore revocations, they think that because they are not in the US, that they can operate around the law with impunity.

Or you can use the search box above for each of the PDLs you have, and get advice, knowledge on the company, sample letters, and triumphs by people just like you - once under the PDL yoke, now debt free.

I went with DDS because i was in over my head with payday loans. i asked about the settlement thing and they actually don't base their numbers on that. i was told they assume i'll have to pay back all of my debt, but anything they can save i'll get back through a shorter program. so far so good! i'm about 3 months into my program and the calls have stopped coming in. the only reason i paid them was because i don't know a thing about settling debts and i would rather pay them to handle it for me, which they've done well so far! wish me luck, i hope this post helps some of you

Well, it's been going great for the past 3 months and since you mentioned it, I actually HAVE learned a great deal about debts and settlements, partly through my research but mostly by asking DDS questions. I also asked them how they know what they're doing if they are so new and it's because they all came from other debt consolidation companies. "Guest" seems to be wary of them but what can I say, you judge anything if you haven't tried it and my experience has been great and mostly stress free (except for a few calls from the payday companies early on). Those calls are done with though and everything seems to be going smoothly. Great choice, i've been getting my money's worth.

I signed on with Destination Debt Solutions about 9 months ago and have found it to be an extremely beneficial experience to my financial woes. To squash any rumors, they are a very real company otherwise they wouldn't be accredited to the BBB: http://centralflorida.app.bbb.org/newsearch2.asp?ComID=073300052328156
Of all the payday loan consolidation companies out there, DDS has one of the highest ratings on there. They helped get the creditors off of my back and for a price that was much lower than what I was paying the payday loan sharks. For those of you hesitant about the price, and why it's higher than what you owe is obvisously because of what they charge to keep their great comapny going. I have found nothing but satisfaction since working with them and as of November I will completely debt free!

Congratulations Happy Camper! You have just paid an additional 20-30% of your debt for a company to do something that you could do for free. If you cannot pay your bills, why would you pay more for some "fly-by-night" company to do the same thing that you can get for FREE!

Go to this site for a local Consumer Credit Counselor that will not charge you!

camper, if you cannot tell, I have absolutely no faith in DDS. There are many organizations out there that will do the same thing as DDS, but will not charge you a fee. What state are you in and did you really check with CCCS? I ask because I have ran stores in atleast 10 states and have always been able to receive proposal letters from CCCS.

This is nothing more than a scam. They have made more money off of me than what was ever paid to my creiditors, their Compliance officer KIA defened their actions and was no help. They worsened my credit and took me for a ride. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I've been with DDS for two months now and am very satisfied. Paying them a portion of what my total amounts for the payday loans are are small compared to the rollover fees. Before I decided to retain them, I ask them every question under the sun and they were prompt and very helpful.

Hopefully you did your research and made sure you weren't dealing with any illegal lenders, because if you were, I hope you can come back here after they are paid off and say the same thing. I truly hope you won't be dealing with them all over again after you thought they were taken care of by this company you hired.

with a company making a profit. Isn't this country based on companies that make a profit while making peoples lives better. By the way, no one does something for free. If they do not charge a fee that means they are probably being re-numerated by the banks, which means they represent the banks interest not yours. I am not saying you should not be cautious but dismissing a company because they charge a fee and are in business to make a profit is delusional and unrealistic. I am feel much more comfortable working with a company that outlines their fees and is upfront about being in business to make profit. I mean if everyone worked for free we would not have an economy.

the problem is that PDL companies are NOT willing to work with you to pay monthly or more manageable amounts....PDL become a viscious cycle that you cannot et out of because you constantly need to borrow to cover off the previous payments....I tried to pay monthly and was told NO WAY its not as easy as some make it sound to get out.... I have 2 PDLs and I pay 600 in fees every 2 weeks....the 360 a month that DDS is asking will get me out ....I rather pay 360 then 1200....I just need to know if DDS is legit and reliable.
