My AmEx account was sent to Allied Interstate after only 60 days past due. I would like to settle with them. Balance is $3000. Any ideas what they typically will offer?

they sent me a letter in january asking for a balance from a credit card i owe. This month I got another one wanting to settle for about half of it. I am sending them the settlement amount and see if it gets cleared up.
