margie,a chargeoff is allowed on your credit report 7 years from chargeoff date or 7.5 years from date of first delinquency if this occured before chargeoff. If you made any payments after that date, the reporting sol date can be reset. They may continue to collect as long as debt is unpaid. Once debt is out of statute for reporing and civil action, they will call or write. If you do not wish them to contact you and are sure that the debt is out of statute, you can send them a full cease & desist letter certified mail return receipt.I am including a link to one here on the forum.

This company recently sent me a sheriff's office civil division form to fill out with our assets.
We have not so much as received a letter from the people and now they have entered a judgement against us to bring this paper to the sheriff's office.
Has anyone ever heard of this? I have not.
When my husband spoke to someone on the phone who represented them and asked them what they represented they would not tell him only demanded money. Also they contacted our neighbors and left a number that was not local. We are in South Carolina.

Sounds funny to me. Are you sure there's a judgment against you? Call the court clerk and ask. If it were for real, it seems to me you should have recieved it from the Sheriff's Dept, not the company. Anthony is right, if you find something funny is going on, sue them, as well as report them to the appropriate authorities, (such as the post office for mail fraud).

These guys have been calling me for about a month with an automated voice message saying "This is not a sales call please call ..." So I wrote it off because I was never at a place where a pen was handy. So I was finally able to call the number today and asked who I supposedly owed money to. I couldn't understand the lady because she was Indian but she said ".... (something) Greg" then we were cut off. For the rest of the morning I prowled the internet to find a phone number. I used 201-567-5648 to call and get a customer support line (by the way if you call make sure you enter in a number of importance because if you try customer support you will get a voice mail. Same with disputes you'll sit on the phone for an hour waiting for someone to answer instead I hit the button for paying a balance not only did I get someone in America but I didn't have to wait.) The customer support line number is 1-800-873-5648 I tried the customer support option no dice there so I called back and put that I was trying to pay. The guy asked for my social and I refused to give it to him. I said that I would give him the phone number they had been calling. I gave it to him and he said that nothing came up that there was no balance. He then asked for my name first and last and started going through street addresses...mine wasn't in there. Strange since when I called earlier and gave them my phone number something showed up but now it isn't there. I've never gotten a credit report because I've never owned a credit card, and I pay my bills. So if this company shows up on my credit report whenever I decide to get one there will be a problem. If anyone has experienced something similar to my situation and still had problems let me know.

Thank You,
Christina

I am in the same boat. I am about to buy a house and see the AT&T Wireless charge on my credit rept. I remember paying this 2 years ago and they promised if I paid right then on the phone it would not be on my credit report. I checked today and lo and behold..there it was. I am going to attempt to contact them but I am not sure if this will do any good since I have already paid the account. Any suggestions?

I paid off my Palisades debt 3 years ago. They weren't so bad to deal with then, but now, years later, my credit report shows a $0.00 balance, but still shows that it is an OPEN account on Equifax, and a closed account on Experian and Transunion. It is still affecting my Equifax score. What the heck do i do now? I disputed through Equifax, and they just wrote back and said that they verified it, and it would not change. What now?

I don't owe a telephone service. my creditor is Platinum/Providian Bank.
Which I did have a credit card from providian 6 years ago, which I made a onetime settlement. I went thru a divorce and had some hard times. how could they come back on me in 6 years?
What should I do?. I don't know if I have my cancel checks for then.
thanks,
Annie

Palisades has had me listed as owing AT&T over $2,300 for years on a case of ID theft back in 2002. I have called AT&T and verified with them and I owe $0. I will be contacting a lawyer regarding this since it is putting my job in jeopardy. These people need to be put out of business

we are independent contractors for a transport company in indiana (living in illinois)
a wage deduction was placed with the company we contract for; and the company blocked us from working as long as there is a wage deduction.
we want to make arrangements to make monthly payments; but cannot even work. what can be done to remove the wage deduction so we can return to work and start paying this debt off?
thank you.

I had opened 3 accts with ATT and 2 of them were opened on the wrong plan, so they incurred hundreds of dollars in roaming charges. I called when we never recieved a bill to find out my balance, and when we heard they were each around $800 for the first month of use, we inquired how in the world they could get that high and the rep explained it was roaming charges. They refused to rectify their mistake so I had the phones turned off. They were then purchased by Palisades. No one, either ATT or Palisades, is able to give me a copy of the bill to prove the charges. I have to this day, it has now been 4 years, been able to get a copy of this bill. I finally gave in and paid one of them being that it was $380, but the other one that started out at $865 is now on my credit report at over $1300!!! How can they refuse to prove the debt to me but they can continue to add to it interest charges!?!?
The third acct even ended up going to them, we arranged a payment plan and stuck to it. Then months later that called me wanting one last payment of $80, but we had already paid the entire the debt, that one was legit so we agreed to pay and did pay it, but now they day that we missed a payment, and they keep saying that they will send me a statement of the acct showing the payments that they recieved but when it comes in the mail, it only shows the balance of the acct, not the details of the payments they have recieved. These guys are sooooo shady!! How is this legal!?! They have completely ruined my credit, I went from a 680 to a 571!

I have been trying to settle my Chase credit card account with them for almost 2 years and still haven't. I paid a Seideman law firm $45 a month to settle and they submit a proposal for 1/2 to 1/3 and Palisade refused/turn down the offer. They want it all. How do I go about in trying to pay Chase instead of Palisade since they don't want to take my money... I want if off my credit and want it paid off.

I need help what can I do. How can't she said she does not remember our conversation. was she drunk??

Alot of collectors state they don't remember a call. I take notes of what they say and what I say, and read it back to them!

DO NOT ever give any of these collection agencies your bank info- you will end up having more taken out and be in more trouble. If you believe this is your debt, and that they have the debt and are legally bound to collect it- send a money order. Alot of them say they don't take money orders- but I just say ok, and send it anyway, and they haven't returned one yet!

If these people are just collecting for the original creditor, I would try to get in touch with the OC and see if you can bypass them.

Do a search at the top of the screen for them- and you will see what others have gone through with them..Good Luck, keep us posted..KAren :D

I've recently started trying to build credit and because of this it's stirred up some of my old accounts from years ago. I get alerts whenever something changes on my credit report and have noticed that over the past month, Palisades collection agency has shown up almost every other day. Is that even legal? I've never been contacted by them and don't know what account they even have but I'm sure the negative information being reported almost daily is hurting my credit score. Is there anything I can do to stop this much reporting?

Hi I have been by Palisades Collection LLC agency too.
The agency said I owe them 3800 dollars and they put it on my credit report. I have no idea of the account they referring to.
Here is my problem, I am now working in Singapore, and it is impossible for me to get the mail, so I can not get the mail from them. What is the best approach to contact them. If I need to write them a letter, what should I write? I heard it is not a good idea to include your personal information in the letter, so what should I do. Any help is appreciated

Be careful about these guys. When they call you, your cell phone or caller ID only shows the number 414-8319. If they leave message, they only give you the 1-800-414-8319, sounds like the message cut-off.

When you call this number (better use public pay phone, their answer system will ask youd SSN.

DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO RETURN THEIR CALLS.

I recieved a letter stating that I owe them $950 for an AT&T bill. I had talked to Maria who was very rude and hung up on. I then called AT&T wireless to verify this past due amount. Make a long story short, AT&T can not find me in the system past, present or future. They used my SSN#, and address.
I was a former customer of AT&T and I asked their collections department if I should still be in their system, whether I owed or not, and she said yes that a collection agency will collect for us and we give them a percentage of what is collected. I now have an attorney looking into this matter. To be continued.....

I recently checked my credit report and noticed that Palisades had put 7 marks on my credit report all for 1 account and all on the same day. My credit score dropped more than 70 points in one month and that is the only change! I can't imagine that it is correct that the same item is showing up 7 times and was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this. I am just starting to build my credit and this is definitely not motivating :(
