I received a letter this week from Palisades Collection agency stating that there is a debt for verizion. This debt goes back to 2000. I recently bought a house and this agency wasnt on my credit report any more. Now I fear that it will re appear. Can they do that? The same thing happened with Pressler and Pressler because they are charging me now with a debt from 1999. I am paying it now and I am almost done but I dont want to go through this again with this other credit agency. Now when I pulled my credit report Pressler and Pressler is on it. But prior to this my credit report was impeccable. Please help...

Once a debt is removed from your credit report, it cannot be reinserted (normally) if the CRB were to reinsert it the CRB and the creditor could get in a lot of trouble. Pressler and Pressler is not known to play by the rules so they probably committed a big FCRA no-no on that one.

If it has already run the course of the 7 year reporting period then it needs to be removed. You can file a complaint with the FTC and your state Attorney General's office and you can also dispute it with the 3 credit reporting bureaus as well. If they will not comply with FCRA regulations then you can file suit for up to $1,000 per violation in addition to punitive damages per FCRA, even the 3 major credit reporting bureaus can be sued (they have been before and probably will be again)

Welcome to the forum Mr. Detes, Mr. A.
Mr. Detes, you should send them a debt validation letter along with proof that you had paid the debt. You should also dispute the entries on your credit report as well, they cannot legally report invalid information per the Fair Credit Reporting Act. (under civil penalty of $1,000 per violation)

Mr. A., What collection agency has your account? If you can let me know I'll be more than happy to look up contact information for you for that agency.

I purchased an AT&T phone back in 2001 I had it literally three months...I was paid in full until I receive the last bill. The bill was for 1,400.00! I called AT&T right away to find out how my bill got so high...the representive just said that's what you owe and you have to pay it. I felt like she was this way with me because at the time I was 21 and she figured that I would just say ok. Well to make a long story short, I refused to pay the bill. Now 7 yrs later I was summons to appear in court. So I made payment arrangements with Palisades Collection agency. The total amount was for $2600.00. I checked my credit report and the amount shown is $1411.00! Why did the agency charge over double the amount owed and are they allowed to do this?
If anyone knows the answer please let me know before they get all of my money.

Thank you,
Judy

Hi, I'm new to this blog. After reading all of the horrible situations that everyone is experiencing with this company I felt I was in the right place. First, do they (Palisades) only deal with wireless debt, AT&T, Verizon, etc. The reason I'm asking, I had a car that was a voluntary repo. This was last year,I did recieve letters that the account was sold. It went to numerous debt agencies when it stop with this one.
This company and there employess attitudes suck someting awful. There very nasty. I'm in the process of a refi on my home and am running into problems because of them on my credit. The broker is helping me by pulling some of my escrow to pay them off. Unfortunately it's not enoung in my escrow, I'm short by like 2 grand. We tried calling them to see if we could get a settlement amount. I owe them like 14 thousand and am willing to send them 12, but there refusing, they want it all or there saying they can put a lien on my home. Is this true? Can someone help? Wow, Hopefully I didn't bore anyone.. : )

I have been fighting this company since 2005. They have also placed a collection on my credit report which caused me some problems and damages with getting a auto and home loan. My problems also started with AT&T wireless phone service when I went into one of their stores to purchase a battery for my phone. A sales representative sold me an new phone and gave me reicepts and paper work marked for me existing account but behind the my back actually started a new account in my name with a different kind of AT&T service, account number etc. I filed a with the public utilities commission sent certified letters to the Palisades AT&T all to no avail. I do not know how either of these companies are getting away with this. If anyone knows how we can go about filing a class action lawsuit I a will be more than happy to do the work to get it started and see it through

I don't understand these companies, they love to go around and make peoples lives miserable. I am being sued for a car that I loved but could no longer afford.I did a voluntary repo and explained to the company that I could no longer afford it. They resold it and now they want $7K what do you do if you can not even afford an attorney.

Welcome to the forum Marlo.

Have you "shopped around" for an attorney yet? You could try calling local consumer attorneys to see if you can actually afford them. You could also try naca.net to find a consumer attorney in your area.

Also, if you could answer these questions I may be able to better assist you:
1. When was the car repossessed?
2. What state do you live in?

I am outraged with this collections agency!!! My wages were garnished not once but twice from this same agency....My job attached a letter twice to my paycheck but i misplaced the first one. The debt was paid in full and it still shows up on my credit report with the full balance and seriously delinquent. when i disputed it with experian they sent back a report saying that it was an accurate debt and still valid so experian refuses to take it off my credit report...... what can i do about this????

Can you help me? I started receiving automated phone calls from Palisades about 2 weeks ago. They ask that I call an 800# which I have not yet. I checked my CRs yesterday and all are clean. I am afraid to call and start something after reading about these scam artists. Is this the first step (automated calls) and will this progress to something else.
What should I do?

I also have issues with this place. I never had a contract with AT&T due to being in the military. They double billed my disconnection fee even though I never had a contract. I called many numbers to include the collection agency Palisades sold my information to. None of these places will give me information on where they got the information from. I called AT&T to verify my account and they tell me that my account is non existent. To include my social security number and full name. I have also been directed to the 201-567-5648 number after getting numerous numbers for this company. Is there anyone that successfully sued this place or is willing to start a class action suit? I am currently going to call a lawyer today or tomorrow to proceed with this. Thank you all for your help with this matter.

I bought a car in 07 with no report of collection from this place or the place they sold it to. The double bill came to $350 to include $194.14 of interest. How is it possible to have this when I never had an agreement for a contract less alone a bill to start with?

I am taking legal action against any and everyone to include Palisades Collection LLC, AT&T, and FMS Investment Corp. PO BOX 681515 Schaumburg, IL

ok, so my Providian (now Wachovia) account was charged off at 10,000. (watch out for so called 'debt reduction' companies, was screwed over there!!)

Now PALISADES wants to settle for 6k and I have the letter that has the settlement amount on it and states that they will mark it paid in full within 45 days of the received check with the credit beaurus.

Has anyone received the letter, paid it then Palisades didnt remove it from their credit rating within 60 days?

I'm afraid to give them a dime but want to get this done and over with. All help is greatly appreciated.

There is SO much bad stuff out there on them.

I have been trying to get a Palisades Collection account off of my credit report. The origination of debt was sometime in 2001 or 2002 and was paid on time. The account was with AT&T and I received a collection notice from another collection company in 2004 and disputed it with them but AT&T just resold it to Palisades. I have been unsuccessful, and treated like a homeless street urchin, when trying to get account history documentation from AT&T. Today I have been redirected to three different phone numbers for Palisades, and disconnected once. AT&T refuses to send me my account records, stating that I should have kept my own records. I had not heard anything about this account having a problem and had switched cell companies two years prior to receiving my first collection notice. I did not keep my AT&T records longer than 6 months as there was no reason to. What are my options?
This company (Palisades) is great at sending me in circles with no answers received.
Stephanie

Cycoman702 is correct, you should send them a debt validation letter (you can find a good template via my signature) be sure to send the enclosure with it, certified mail, return receipt requested. By federal law, upon receipt they must cease all collection activity until they provide the requested documentation.

Palisades CA is very bad and so is the its user ATT, or even worse. Sometime ago Palisades CA sent me an ATT bill, I responded promptly explaining the issue. I was expecting to get a response from Palisades CA, but you know what? They just pretend did not receive anything from me and silently damaged my credit!! I just don't understand why there is nothing we can do about it!

I had a similar very old debt reporting as Collections on two out of three CRA's and one they were reporting as an OC... I did an untimely DV for the three... The two reporting as Collections have dropped off, the one as an OC is still reporting... The CRA reports that they are still waiting for Palisades to report back to them. I am just keeping my fingers crossed...

i am having a nitemare. last week i was contacted by one of these scammers and thank goodness i caught them. but when i was looking through my credit report i noticed that i debt i paid last year to a wolpoff and abramson that was collecting for palisades collections, had filed a judgement against me last year. i had no idea this took place. i filed a dispute with my credit bureaus and this week, wolpoff and abramson are calling my work asking for employment verification. i'm afraid that now they are trying to garnish my wages on an acct that i already paid for. if those sneaky sob's went behind my back and went to court without sending me a subpeona i wouldn't put it past them to do this. any ideas anyone??? i'm afraid i open a can of worms here....
