I am in the process of cleaning up my credit and my score is just lingering around 600. My mortgage lender suggested I contact Medicredit and work out an arrangement to pay off a 7 year old debt in that is in the amount of $2500. When my credit report was pulled, Medicredit was the only debtor that didn't have any contact information. That is how I stumbled across this website.

My original debt was in November of 2004. They have not reported on it since April of 2007....reaching 4 years this month. After reading the SOL, can I try and get this dereg removed from my credit report? The original debt was made in CA and I currently live in NH. It was from an emergency room visit/written contract.

I am happy to get a hold of them and try to work something out, BUT if I can save myself some $$ I would be thrilled.

Suggestions?

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!
Check the SOL period in the state of California from the following page:
http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/statute-of-limitation.html

The SOL period on the debt will start from the first date of default on the debt. So, check whether or not the SOL period on the debt is really over. If the SOL period is over, then they can't sue you for the debt. However, they can still contact you regarding the debt. So, it is better to repay the debt even if the SOL period is over. Once the debt is paid off, you can request them to update the account status on your credit report.

I did make payments on it a long time ago....but it's going on 7 years.

It's the only large debt left on my credit report and my mortgage consultant thinks that if I make payments I can finally get approved for a loan. I just didn't know if I could somehow just get it removed.

Gues I'll just make some payments because I'm ready to buy a house!
