Got a claim from this office. They say that they don't have to show proof that I owe money, but can give me a % off if I pay up immediately. If I want proof, I would have to pay in full. They've obviously got my personal information.


You should also check the SOL (Statute of Limitations) on the debt before you make any payments. If the SOL on that debt has expired, then the CA will not be able to file a lawsuit against you even if you do not make any more payments on the account. However, the SOL may start all over again if you start making payments. So, you should check whether or not the SOL on the debt has expired before you start making any payments on the credit account.
