T&C now have our payday loans and my checking account has been closed and a new one reopened at a totally different bank. One of the payday loans is Cash Transfer Centers. I have read all the horror stories and I really don't want my husbands job to receive phones calls or any other references. Should I just send out cease and desist letters even before they start harrassing us. What other things should I do before they start calling and harassing?

Melissa

Melissa,

Have you spoken with your counselor? Perhaps your counselor has informed your lender that the account has been transferred to them. Once your lender starts receiving money, they will not come behind you.

If you decide to contact them, send letter through certified mail with return receipt requested. Please go through this thread to know more about Sonic-

Melissa-

CTC is one of my loans as well. T&C is handling the payments. I was called a lot at first by my "friend" Sukie. I quit answering the calls- thank goodness for caller id! They quit calling me at work after I faxed them a letter. So far I have not received anything on wage assignment. Little do they know, I AM the payroll department at my job. They have been very quiet and I have not heard from them in about 2 weeks. I am a little leary that this is a calm before the storm, but I am hoping they will just accept my payments and let me be.

I would definately send a cease and desist letter to Sonic but fax it first. They are quiet at times but can harass you to no end. They don't follow laws, only their own rules. Trust me on this one because I have been harassed by this company.

This is the address I use:

Sonic Payday
PO Box 1216
Oaks, PA 19456

This is coming straight from correspondence with them. They are a hard company to deal with but a jumpstart is a good thing. One of their collection agents was even rude to my debt counselor at T & C. Keep everything documented with this company in case you need to file a complaint down the road.

Also this company loves to play games and change their minds alot, even with T & C. They will accept debt consolidation programs, don't let them tell you otherwise. Also, send a letter revoking the voluntary wage assigment that they stick in the loan papers somewhere. You can send it in the same letter as the cease and desist letter.
