Does anybody have any advice about how I should go about contacting my PDL people. I have been communicating with a credit counselor about consolidating and getting these paid off through payment arrangements. Should I call them or should I send out letters. I want to make them aware of the block I'm putting on my account before the next payment is due so I don't get any calls to my job or home. Does anybody have a sample letter on what I can send to inform them of my consolidation and payment arrangements.

you can look under the books, then letters section i dont know if there is omething there but i called and emailed mine told them i was going through a d/c but befroe i get word some of them had already tried to debit my accoutn and found it was closed. but none have really called me just one called and i've missed their call ever time cause they call while im at work and they don thave my new work # so thats a relief onmy part. :)

You can talk to your lenders and propose the payment plans. They may or may not accept your proposal, but you should talk to them first. If they do, you won't have to think much about their doings because your arrangement has been done with the lenders. But if they don't accept your proposal, you will have to exercise your other options. At that point, you will need to tell them about blocking the debit and sending money through other options. You must do all your correspondence in writing for proof. However, keep a follow up over the phone.

There are some success stories in this forum on how people have managed to pay the accounts with their lenders. You will get useful ideas on negotiating with your lenders.

I did the opposite and closed the account and let the consolidation company handle everything. I have had some phone calls, not a huge amount. Also, I informed the receptionist at work to just forward any calls of mine to my voice mail (I can't have phone calls while I am in class anyway). Our school phones are so busy that most of the time these kinds of calls get tired of being on hold and just go straight to voice mail.
