My grandmother called me today and told me she had a strange message on her answering machine. Christine from ASG had called for me and left a message for me. She said " this is Christine from ASG. I am calling for Erica *****. We have some unfinished business to attend to. The reference number is...." She left my refernce number on an answering machine where just anyone could call back and get my information. This doesn't seem right to me. I do not want my elderly grandparents to take part in my debt problems. Is there anything i can do to get them to stop calling there?

Erica-first you need to send a debt validation letter to them certified, return receipt,to make sure they are authorized to collect the debt, the amount is right, etc. Then in that letter, tell them from that point forward to cease and desist in contacting you, other that by mail.Keep any papers, keep notes on who calls and when also.I see you have not joined the forum, please consider this,it's free and there is also free credit counseling offered,as well as numerous posts from other members who have been where you are. Above the post reply button,is a Guide,go to that and you will receive more info-good luck...Karen

Is there much of a chance that no one will sign for it? If they don't sign, what should i do?

When the certified mail is sent, there should be some stamp from the post office proving that you have sent the mail. If they don't collect your mail, it is their problem but you have proof of your efforts.

Also, if you don't want to get phone calls from this CA, send a cease and desist letter. This will legally stop them from making any phone calls to you. Here is a sample letter of this

If I were you I would call them and see why they are calling you. They really aren't that bad to work with, I've been working with them for a while and as long as you're honest with them they will work with you. You will receive information from them, it may a couple days but you will. If you know you owe a debt then just call them. They may seem mean but believe me they're much better than others. Good luck!
