I have four credit cards, and all of them are past due over 90 days. I simply can not pay the minimum due on all of them. Two of the cards have offered to take 40% of the balance either in full or installments. One of the cards has been sent to a collections agency, and they are demanding all of the payment in full in 48 hours. This is impossible and she has threatened me with a lawsuit and the possibility of revoking my ability to get student loans. I am still trying to work with the last CC to get on some type of low interest plan or settlement. What do I do about the one that is in collections? They don't want to work out any type of deal or plan at all.

Hi jschaud,

Welcome to forums. There are certain rules for debt collectors and no one can violate these rules. According to fdcpa, the collectors can not threaten you and should produce something in writing to justify their demand. If they don't, the customer has all the rights to file a complaint against them. So, no more worry, you have FDCPA with you.

If you feel that you are unable to pay off multiple credit card debts, you can opt for a consolidation program and you won't be required to face the collection calls any more. The consultant will tactfully negotiate with your debt collectors keeping your interests protected.

Moreover, you will be paying one consolidated installment instead of multiple payments and all the late fees, over limit charges are going to be removed once you enter the program.

More information is available about the service at ???
