anybody know this company? I did apply for a payday loan, did go through with it but this co debited 21.95 from my acct. said it was connected to a payday loan. anybody know anything?

Lydia, the money that has been debited from your account might be the service fee attached to the payday loan. It must be stated while you signed the agreement with them.

Since the lenders will debit your checking account in the payday, make sure that you keep money in it so that you don't have to pay the penalty fees.

I did one of those online pay day loans and the same thing happened to me. When I tried to contact the company, after about a half hour on hold- I got in touch with an extremely rude woman who was resistant to answering my questions and when I told her that I never authorized them to take money, her attitude was basically "too bad", and then put me on hold, only later to tell me that it was "one way of getting me to shut up". So they are apparently not a very professional company, and after looking them up on the BBB, I found nothing but similar complaints. So, I called my bank who told me that I could dispute the charge, but to make sure that they do not continue taking money out of my account- they said I would need to change accounts, which sounds like a big pain but possibly the only way.

I would advise you to go to the BBB website and file a complaint. You need to make sure you are out of their system. They told me that writing to them was the only way to do that, but after putting up a pretty good fight on the phone, they said I was out of their system. Now, do believe them or change my account......?

I guess I should have listened to all the warnings about identity theft and online scams, reading keystrokes, etc. I know its hard, but you should never give any info such as social or bank account online. This is what happens. Before you use any online loan companies, I would def check them out on the BBB website.

Beware of the companies that offer the lower rates of interest to tease the consumers and offering balance transfer at the extra ordinary interest rates.

Don't get tempted by the fantastic offers of switching credit card companies. In between your personal information gets leaked out for personal use.

Riomom, you can tell this situation to your bank. They will put a stop payment on the debt. They might charge you some fee for it.

Also, you are likely to get a refund if the debits are done unauthorized as per the FDIC regulations. They need to call you up before each withdrawal and you can record it marking your approval.

I too have encountered this problem with theis USA Roadside. I took out a loan online in September and my account was debited. I contact my bank because I didn't h ave a number for uss. They investigated, and ended up crediting my account. BUT again this month, yesterday another debit for 21.95 was taken out. This time, on my statement there was a number, I called the woman and supervisor, who I insisted on talking with (Tina) was very rude. They gave me an address in Las Vegas, which they said was the only way to stop this. I'm not sure it is a legite address, but I have just completed writing a letter, I again will go to the bank this weekend to see if there is anyway for me to permanently stop this ACH debit. I am going to contact the BBB and also the Attorney General's Office. This type of thing has got to stop, The address they gave me was Roadside USA, 848 North Rainbow, Suite 1240, Las Vegas 89107. What else can we do to stop this. I am not going to tolerate this

I too have hade problems with this USA roadside. Both in September and now again today they have debited my account. Last month I went to my bank and they investigated and ended up crediting the 21.95 back to me. This month, in looking at my statement on line there was a number for USA which I immediately called and encountered the most rudest of persons (Jessica and Tinia) ever. I insisted they remove me from the system and reimbuse me. They insisted they could not do it., that I would have to write my request. Here is the address they gave me: Roadside USA, 848 North Rainbow, Suite 1240, Las Vegas 89107. Whether this is legit or not I'm not sure, but I have just completed writing my letter and will send it for return receipt. I will be taking the letter to the bank to see if there is a way that in case this is not legit that my account is not debited each month. I am also contacting the BBB and Attorney General's Office. Wwe must put a stop to this. Of, course they had no phone number at the address they gave. They could not give me their last names and they were just plain rude. This also tells us that the loan companies which let places like this attach themself to their business should not be patronized. I will keep going with this crusade until it is accomplished and will keep you informed of any success.

Hi Janet

Welcome to the forums.

Besides contacting your bank and enquiring about the ACH debits, you should also submit a written complaint to the FTC and the attorney general office in your state. They will go through your complaint and conduct an investigation.

Contact your bank and if possible, change your account number. This will solve most of the problems and you will be able to prevent the fraudulent activities in your account.

I looked at my online Visa statement today, and much to my shock, I saw a charge of $21.95. It listed CALL866-898-2437 in the description. I called 866-898-2437 and spoke to a lady who told me that when I purchased something online that I must have inadvertently subscribed to a 7 day free trial of the program. She then said that I was sent an email that if I did not unsubscribe from the program, I would be charged.

Well, if by some chance I did inadvertently select an option that signed me up for the free trial, I sure did not intend to do so, and, if that is the case (which I doubt it is), it was misleading. This is the first time I've heard of Roadside USA. If they emailed my Yahoo email address, I reserve that for SPAM email and I very rarely check it.

I've writen them to ask for a full refund. The lady I spoke with said they are a legititimate business, so I hope they are!

Regards,
Greg

As Roadside USA has already charged this towards your account, you should keep a check on your credit report. They will try to hit your file with this account as unpaid. As this will hurt your credit ratings, it will be better paying it off.

Also consult your attorney, if you can get a refund.

I also am a victim of this Roadside, USA. They debited by account for 21.95 which my bank paid but also charged $25.00 more because I didn't have the funds in my account at the time. So I out $46.95. I will call my bank now and try to get this credited back. It's BS! This company has to be stopped.

i can't believe that this company is doing this to people. as i read the responses it is like my situation. they charged my account $21.95 as well and said they sent me an email, but i check all my emails and don't have a record of one. i contacted my bank, but they told me i would have to fill out fraud paperwork, in which i have started, and nothing can be done until the investigation is over. Even though it is not that much money, i can't afford to be giving away any amount. i contacted Roadside USA and they gave me an address to write a letter, but said the money is usually nonrefundable. what a crock. this company needs to be stopped.

Hi Tina,

Welcome to the forums.

The phone numbers of Roadside USA are always kept busy because they know that people will call to scream at them. If you want to get in touch with the people, try calling them early at around 9 am ??? 10 am. The lady who will pick up the phone will either hang on you or will tell you to call the company. In anyways, start demanding things from her. You should call them after you have got in touch with your bank and declared them as fraud.

Close your checking account and open a new one. This is not always preferred but you have to do it so that your personal information does not float to a scam company and share it with others.

Roxette

Yeah I had the same problem. On top of that I called the company to cancel, was told that I had to write the company which I did last month and they still haven't canceled the membership. When I called customer service they couldn't even tell me what website they were linked to let alone how I managed to get signed up with them. There is no direct way to contact them either. I contacted my bank and was told that I could do a stop payment but it would cost me $60.00 just to do it.

Just to let anyone know. I am going through every cash advance website and trying to find out what website the link is on. There shouldn't be a way for us to sign up with a company that we know nothing about let alone I don't even own a vehicle. Did anyone ever get any information in the mail from this company that says they sent out a confirmation e-mail which of course didn't happen since I keep every e-mail that I have.

I also had a problem with these thieves. I was online trying to get a payday loan( which i didn't), and all of a sudden the next month my checking account was debited $21.95. I called the number on my statement and i spoke to a woman who sounded like she couldn't care less. She told me the only way to cancel was in writing and gave me the Plattsburg, NY address. I wrote to them telling them to cancel my membership and reimburse me because i never signed up for the service or even was notified of an upcoming debit. I guess i was cancelled because no further money was debited, but i am still trying to get my money back. If i didn't check my account, something else i paid for would have bounced. I really want to do something about these people.

Have you complained against Roadside USA at the state attorney general website? Besides, you can also file your complaint at the FTC and the BBB. The government agencies have to take actions against such scam companies fast. Or else, we will keep losing our hard earned money.

I too was a victim of this scam of a company. It happened when I applied at the site 911paydayadvance.com or paydaylead4u.com beware of these sites because that's how they got your checking account information and started to debit it for $21.95. I called them several times, they told me to write a letter which I did. I sent it with delivery confirmation and they still said they didn't get it and there was nothing they could do. I finally told them I was going to report them to the Better Business Bureau and they said they took my account off of the autodebit. We'll see what happens next month.

What else we all may have to do is change our checking account numbers if the debits don't stop. I know it's a pain in the neck but it may be the only way. Make sure that you report them to the Better Business Bureau of New York at newyork.bbb.org/ just follow the links. Don't let them take us for a ride!!

What a name for a company Roadside USA. In the USA I did not know we treated each other this way. I also went on a site and I am a victum of thier cheating and rudeness when trying to get them to stop. I am going to write to Attorney General Offuice. I talked to a lady today at Roadside and she said it would top lets see. What a mess to get invovled in as innocent as you all are, but to be treated with lies and rudeness by a supposed big comapny. I asm on a very limited income and this is hard to deduct from my income.

Hi Bess

Welcome to the forums.

I am sorry to hear your story. I would also advise you to go to the FTC as well as the BBB website and file a complaint there. You need to make sure that you are out of their tracking system. Writing to them is preferred as it gives effective results but you should as well put up a pretty good fight over the phone also. They will take you out of their system if you keep putting your efforts.

Never give your personal information like the social security number or the bank account number. This is the result what is often received. Before you are planning to take any loan online, definitely check the company in the BBB website.

The same thing happened to me. My bank did reverse the charges and I was given a number to call. I was then given the address to send a letter to. My bank put a block on these people so that they will not be able to debit my account any more. This is totally against the law. I did not authorize these people to take any money from my account. Evidentally, they are in with the payday loan company that I used. I will never fall prey to these people again. Please be aware and careful in dealing with these payday loan companies.

I was charged $21.95 once for this, called and was told that "I signed up for this" while doing a payday loan. I did NOT sign up for this. The rude lady then gave me a Las Vegas address to write for cancellation, as well as a cancellation number. I did this immediately and sent this letter out on 10/17/05. Today (11/15/05) I noted another change on my account. I called them again. (waited 18 minutes on hold and the lady was no nicer). She said that "they never got the letter". She then told me "that she would cancel it from me verbally this time and take my word for it that I had sent a letter, but she needed another letter to confirm the cancellation." I asked her how "they could cancel it over the phone now and couldn't earlier". She said that she was "going out on a limb for me". I sent AGAIN today the original letter and wrote a note on the bottom indicating that this was the second time I sent the letter. I also asked for a copy of the document that showed that I signed up for this crap. Anyway, they now have almost $44.00 of my money and I am asking for a refund and confirmation of my cancellation. I will also be sending this out to the Better Business Bureau and anyone else I can think of if I don't get results.

I will be very happy if you can get the results of your hard work. Many people like you are trying for this refund but with fail

So, I will suggest you not to throw any more of your hard earned money to these people. Call your bank and close your checking account today. You will be sure to save any other debits in your checking account.

Also, you should file your complaints against them at the FTC, BBB and the state attorney general office. Request for immediate actions on behalf of everybody so that these companies taking out people's money are shut down.

I just submitted a complaint to the BBB. The local BBB to handle this complaint is:
BBB of Southern Nevada, Inc.
2301 Palomino Lane
Las Vegas,NV 89107 -4503
Email: scampbell@vegasbbb.org
URL: www.vegasbbb.org
Phone: (702)320-4500
Fax: (702)320-4560

Please everyone join me and send your complaints to this address, or go online to the BBB and submit a complaint. We have to shut these people down! I am thinking seriously of closing my checking account of over 10 years because of this agency. That is a crime in itself because it will cause me many changes and much paperwork.

we've been debited 21.95 in october and november of 2005 in which we don't know this company or what this company is and why they keep on taking this money out of our account. we have sent in a letter and called and jessica said it would be taken care of when we sent in our letter. well, it obvious that it hasn't been taken care of because they took 21.95 out again. anyone have any suggestions?

when they took money out of our account in october, it came up on the computer as 1-866-898-2437. now in november, the number that came up was 1-866-321-8235. we found this new address with the 1-866-898-2437 number: Go Roadside USA Customer Service
334 Cornelia St. Suite 526

we also have the las vegas, NV address, too. we haven't seen our refund, yet, but they sure do like taking our money.

Billybear, on this note, you should think of closing your checking account. This will prevent you from further debits if you change the account.

And you need to send a letter to cancel your subscription with this company. Please send a written letter through certified mail with return receipt requested.

This company also took $21.95 from my checking account and when I called them, I also got ahold of a very very rude lady. She claimed that I signed a contract with them and when I asked her to please fax me a copy she said that it was an electronic signature that I done online. This company is so full of it and they are doing people wrong. People who can afford an extra $21.95 per month for some roadside service would probally not be applying for a payday loan. Anyway I filed a claim with my bank and they credited my account for the $21.95 and all the NSF charges that I incurred because of these people. They said that the roadside company could not present them with proof that I actually signed up for this service. Also Go Road USA said that I would have to mail them a cancellation letter, so I did, actually 5 of them and they said they were not receiving them so the 6th one I sent CERTIFIED! Please report these people to the BBB as I have and will comtinue to ask people to do if they are also ripped off by these scamers!!!!!!!!! :x

This is the actual approach to deal with Go Roadside USA. But you should keep a check in your bank account also. They might again debit this amount next month. Since you have proof of all efforts made, you won't have problems in the future. But I hope, the company does not put you into troubles again.

Folks, if you are having regular debits, talk to your bank and write a cancellation letter to Go Roadside USA. You will be able to stop the unauthorized debits. If there comes no result, closing the checking account will be the best bet.

Erica,

Do send a letter to the company and ask them to cancel your subscription. You might prefer to send it through certified mail with return receipt requested so that it actually reaches there.

Also talk to your bank for this. They will credit the money back to your account if the company fails to give your bank a proof of the subscription.

Does anyone have a phone number for these guys besides the 866 number? I want to call the office directly. They keep taking money out of my account too and after writing letters that they "never received" I keep getting charged. When I called today they finally cancelled my account. I am so upset about this.

Tricia go to your bank and dispute this claim with them. Tell them that you did not authorize this company to do this and they will set up a fraud claim for you. It usually takes about 7-10 business days, but believe me your bank wants to keep you as a customer and they are tired of people getting ripped off over the internet. Just go in and talk to a personal banker.

I opened up my bank statement today to find a $21.95 pre-authorized draft for these weasels for "roadside assistance"; I haven't needed roadside assistance since 1993. 'Roadside' (read Dung Heaps) indicated that the charge was really for a payday loan promotion. Pure BS. And it isn't about the amount-it's the principle. The worst part was the fact that they had my identity information. As noted by others, the best thing to do is file a dispute with your bank, and written complaints to the State Attorney General and the FTC. Hopefully, your bank will compensate you and carry the fight to the rat-bastards. May 'Roadside' soon be roadkill.
