I keep getting calls that show up simply as "Georgia Call". The person never identifies himself or who he is calling for, just that it's an "urgent personal business matter". The number on caller ID is 678-228-3415 and the return call number is 866-664-2513 .

I searched online and found nothing for either number. Just curious .. might be more inclined to call back if I knew who it was!

Dawn, I took the 866 number and ran it on the BBB and this is the company that is registered for that number.

Dawn, I am too getting these calls from 678-228-3415 everyday. When I do answer I get the exact some message. There is no person on the other line only a recording. The message sounds like what you are getting with the return number of 866-664-2513. My husband called the number while at work, and said that he felt like he was being switched overseas and put on hold. I'm afraid to call it from my home phone thinking I will get a large phone bill. Is this a scam? How do you file a investiagation to verify these numbers are valid business numbers?

I also keep getting these calls from number, 678-228-3415. I am assuming they are a collection agency. Is there any way to stop the calls, or do I hace to change my number? Also, its not a recorded voice, it is a man, and he leaves messages on my answering machine.

I have rec'd dozens of these recorded messages from 866-664-2513. Speech is garbled. Called today and person on phone was incredibly rude. Told him no such person at this number. Had to call back twice because he hung up on me. When I suggested the BBB he laughed. So not much we can do. DoNotCall list won't help, these are not telemarketers, just a collection agency

I just called the police station in Marietta,GA. The nice lady on the other end is calling the number 678-228-3415 and informing them that if they keep calling my cell phone number I will file a law suite against them for harrassment. She is going to call me back. I'm from Nebraska. Where are some of you folks from?

I'm getting call from 866-664-2513. It took about 30 minutes for me to even get through to a representative and he wouldn't give me any information regarding the company at all. I've requested twice to have the calls stop. I'm assuming they got my number from directory services as the person they are seeking has the same 1st initial and last name as my wife. Other than that we have no idea who the person is.

We are constantly being called by this number, and a male voice says "this call is for" then a computer voice says "a name" and then the male voice says it is a "personal business matter". It leaves an 866-664-2513 to call, which is contact to NO ONE. From others that have commented, it is a computed generated call and have no way of getting any details or why they call. It is getting old.

If this is a collection agency, they are doing a poor job. I never talk to a person only get recordings. It is always a recorded message. I come home and have 2 or 3 on my machince. Then I will get 2 calls while at home, and no one but THE SAME recording will play. Even at 8:30 a.m. They are not that busy at 8:30 in the morning to not have a person call directly. I know we have no outstanding accounts. This has to be some kind of scam. They only want YOU to return the call. It is a harassment. Running to the phone only to get the same recording day after day.

lc,

I did the same thing, then I'm thinking that they forwarded me to a number that's long distance. Did you get through? Was you phone bill affected?

A disabled friend has gotten several phone calls from that company claiming it pertained to "personal business". I tried calling the number, which switched me over to another location and when I asked who the company was, the man said Focus Receivable. But when I asked him what kind of business it was, he hung up. My friend keeps his bills paid religiously, so no way does he need a collection agency calling. I think it's a crooked business, so be careful.

I was once being harassed by someone of the similiar nature (though not this particular organization). I got a hold of the guy once and he insisted that he wasn't calling (yet kept calling). Finally I told him that I would continue to CALL HIM on his 800 number if he didn't stop it. He said that is illegal (which it is not). I said, "I will continue to call until you complete the conversation for which you keep contacting me". NOTE: that 800 numbers are paid for by the end company. So if you keep calling them on that line they're incurring a fee each time. It's a legal way to make them literally PAY for their ignorance. It worked with my guy, maybe it will work with "your" organization. :-)

By calling through a cell phone and blocking your number you can gather information. You don't necessarily have to say who you are, but instead inquire about whether or not they are allowed to be collecting.

Calling cards don't always send a generic number through. It depends on your calling area, and the brand of the calling card.

What most people don't realize is that some of the newer cell phones have a record feature on it.

I have a Nextel i730 and can record phone conversations. I use to have an LG something from Verizon. It was like the 2nd one that came out with the color screen and the flashy front. I could record on that too, but only their voice (assuming it was for getting directions.)

But most of the newer ones (including mine) record both sides. Good for those who don't have landline and can't wiretap (those radio shack suction cup things) a conversation.

i get those calls to and i did call back and they don't give any company information and you just hold and hold and hold but i do have a letter from this company and i will try contacting them outside of the 866 number and tell them to stop calling because they are calling my job! and i will get them for harassment if they don't quit calling my job.

Recd first call last night on Sunday evening on answering machine. Same message as everyone else has been getting. Then at 8:30 a.m. this morning, recd another taped message. I got very suspicious when I tried to call and their was no identification of who was calling and the music in the background when I was put hold was very weird. Somehow we need to put a STOP to crazy harrassments like this. Too much of this going on.

Since Sunday evening, we have recd 10 of these nonsense taped messages and an Unknown caller who only identifies himself as "Bert". When asked what company they are representing they hang up. I am calling the Better Business Bureau today and also putting a block on my phone for that number. When you tell them there is no one at this number with name they are asking for, doesn't make any difference, they just keep hounding. If this is a collection agency they are insane to think people are going to continue to put up with this garbage.

EMD/VA....and to all others

Anytime you receive a call that pertains to legal action or monies being involved they are required to give their first and last name.

Their name, company, local number can be provided at request other wise 800#, and any other infomation you request. This shouldn't be difficult for them if you explain you only want to deal with a company you are familiar with. Usually this information can be obtained immediately when you ask for validation and also cease & desist communication via telephone.

Maybe even mentioning that all your incoming calls are recorded at the end of the validation request.

Regards-
Mike

Y'all need to be careful when returning these phone calls. There was something going around not too long ago where you would return a phone call and it would release your phone number, and inmates could make any number of calls straight from prison and it would be charged to your phone.

I used to receive calls like this too, but never called back. After about 10 times they stopped calling me. Let your machine pick up and then delete the message. If they really want your money they will call you personally.

The number of scams like this that are out there is insane.

The only thing that I could think of to do was to not return the calls at all. I asked my mother about it, and she told me that no legit collection company would call you like that. She should know...she would as a fraud investigator for a major credit card company for 7 years. She was great at finding things no one else could.

Don't answer the calls. And, certainly don't return them. I know its annoying but its easier to hit delete than to try to explain to your phone company why you have a $1500 phone call to Guam.

You might see if your phone company has a privacy guard service. I know SBC does. I have it and had to turn it off while my husband was over seas so he could get through. I turned it back on just recently...no annoying phone calls. :D

I am recieving the calls as well. They just started a couple of days ago - one a day for 3 days, even today on Sunday. I have no idea what bill it is as I have not defaulted on anything in years. I'll be watching to find out what everyone finds out. I am in IOWA btw...do we have something in common, like have we all recently signed up for something at the same place maybe? Amanda:)

Same thing here as everyone else. I live in Georgia and same type of recorded message. As everyone else if they are truly looking for some type of debt collection, they can contact via registered mail or otherwise. Has anyone seen that these phone calls just go away eventually. I've filed with the FTC and have seen the large number of complaints with the BBB. So can't think of what else to do but wait them out I guess.

I am also receiving these annoying calls at least 4 times a day... at home and at work. Is there anything that we can do? I also tried to call this number back to only get a recording and switched over to another line playing music. Does anyone have a clue on what we can do to put an end to this annoying mess?!!!!!

No online information is available in the internet and the telephone directories about the said number. This puts us to conclude that this number is not registered with the government agencies. Thus the company owning this number is committing serious fraud. I suggest that the calls from this number should not be taken seriously and definitely take some helpful advice from your telephone operators.

Since the telephone exchanges are fully computerized, I think they might know the solution to overcome the problems caused by the number.

I have been getting these calls for months. The caller said we owed money to Wacovia Bank. And wanted more info from us. We gave none. We have no account with Wachovia and never have. We went to a Wachovia Bank and gave them the info which was relayed to us and were told that it was a bogus call. And that we do not owe them anything. If this was a real collection agency they would send a bill in the mail. Don't know what I can do except let the answering machine pick it up. Don't answer ANY of the callers questions. They are just trying to get your money or steel your identity.

A family member of mine has been getting these calls for my wife, (her previous married name is used), we have been married two years now and dating for another two before we married. She has never lived at this address but this number with the same caller id keeps showing up. I just found out today they have been calling since the first of August. I think we all need to complain to the ftc and BBB otherwise the government will take no action. At least this is my opinion.

I have been getting these calls. When I return the call, it just connects to a voice mail. I was assuming that since I had recently moved, this was a call for someone who used to have the phone number. Strange thing is, if it is legitimately a collection agency, what if someone were calling to pay the bill? Why is no one ever available?

I am having them calls about 6-8 times a day because of ALLTEL Cell Phone Company. Alltel uses them to help get what moneys are owed to them BUT, Alltel seems to think I owe them over 600.00 and I refuse to pay that. I was behind one month on my cell phone bill and owed them 85.00 then when my next bill came I owed them over 450.00 plus they shut my cell phone off and still expected me to pay the monthly fee for the remainder of my contract ontop of a 200.00 disconnection fee for breach of contract. I just don't understand their theory and refuse to pay them for not being able to use my phone seems how they disconnected it. I agree'd that I owed them the 85.00 from the month I fell behind but thats it! :x

DeliriouS

You might have received two bills from ALLTEL. One with the amounts 85.00 and the other showing 450.00. Do a thorough research on both the bills. Count the number of calls with the rate per call. This will help you to calculate the amount that is owed by you in the next bill. Also ask ALLTEL to give explanation of the bill with proper distribution of the amount.

You can send a letter of dispute and ask them to validate it. Inform them that you refuse to pay the debt until it has not been validated.
