I keep getting calls that show up simply as "Georgia Call". The person never identifies himself or who he is calling for, just that it's an "urgent personal business matter". The number on caller ID is 678-228-3415 and the return call number is 866-664-2513 .

I searched online and found nothing for either number. Just curious .. might be more inclined to call back if I knew who it was!

FOCUS is a collection agency representing numerous creditors. If they are calling you, it means that you either owe money or your information has been given to them. Chances are you owe money. If you owe money, why not pay it instead of wasting time on this site trying to figure out how you can dodge the debt.

I understand that fraud does occur, but about 95% of the time the debts are legitimate. Pay your bills and they will never call you. Dodge your bills and they will try to locate you so that you can fulfill your obligation. Pretty simple huh? No lets quit the B.S. on the forum and either confirm if it is fraud (file police report) or pay up.

Sounds to me like you are one of those jerks that work for the CA's that do not know how to treat people.

You MUST send these people a letter to stop them from calling you. I have been getting FIVE phone calls a day for a debt that has been paid in full. I can only assume they got duped by another collection agency or aren't getting correct information from the original creditor. At any rate, they were also trying to get me to give them my banking information to take care of this. I told them I hadn't gotten anything in the mail from them to indicate that they were servicing this debt and he got really short with me ... told me we had to take care of it TODAY or there would further collection action. What does THAT mean? More phone calls? So I sent a dispute letter today (certified, of course) and we'll see what happens. I verbally asked them to stop several times during the course of my phone call with them yesterday, but apparently, according to the law it has to be in writing. So, we'll see. I'll report back.

Threats...ugh! I would recommend keeping a list of everything involved here...dates that letters are sent, threats made, date and time of phone call. That way if they continue to break the law, you will have a written account of all the nonsense. Please do keep us informed, and feel free to join this free community as a member. We value everybody's input, including yours!

I had a call from a machine from 866-664-2513 on Monday and replied the call. The lady said

my number will be removed and it was just a mistake.

And I kept getting a call every single day. It's friday now and it really got on my nerves.

so I googled the number and shocked to see other peopole who have nothing to do with debts

or anything have to go through the same thing.

I called them again and the guy said he is an assistant manager and his manager is Matt

Paterson (ext: 2240). The system is down now and there is nothing he can do at this moment.

The lady on monday might have removed it, but haven't block the number from the system.

that's why I am still getting calls!

He doesn't know who his CEO is. He said it's a very large company. yeah with a stupid

system!

here is my findings and I will write to them:

I had a similar problem. I did get a name and direct number. Steve Koepke, Manager of Operational Support, 678-228-3041. He was understanding and said he would take care of it.

Seems like this forum has been up since August 2005 (it is now Mar 2006), and nobody has been able to get the company to change their practices. Clearly, the FTC and BBB routes have not been useful, and which one of us is really going to spend money on an attorney to sue them? I'm curious if this Bill Strang (the CEO) would change the company's practices if everyone who was too busy to call during the day were to unite and call him at his home number every night (I imagine it is more likely that he would be home at 3AM than during the day). Someone suggested that his home number is 770-418-9953, but I do not know if this is correct. From the forum discussions, it sounds like he is a very nice-mannered individual, so maybe he would listen if more people talked directly to him at home. I'm curious if everyone will be able to go on living their normal lives once they all agree the calls have stopped. Oh, and please don't misinterpret this message; I'm certainly not suggesting that anyone call and harass the guy. That would not be polite.

I wonder when everyone would have to start calling and what they would have to say for the company to change their practices completely. Imagine if it were from 11PM TUES MARCH 28 to 5AM THE NEXT MORNING, and everyone said:

"Hi, Bill. I apologize for bothering you at this time of night, but unfortunately I am unable to find time to contact you during the day. Your company, Focus Receivable Management, has been harassing me by repeatedly calling with pre-recorded messages directed to an individual that is not at this number. Please have your company remove my number from your directory and stop calling me. I will contact you again tomorrow night to confirm that the calling has stopped, or to let you know that the harassing calls are continuing. I appreciate your help on this matter, and again apologize for calling at this late hour."

What if that would actually help??

I got a letter from these people last week about a debt I owed to Alltel. A debt I had paid off 2 years ago with another collection agency, AMO recoveries.

Apparently All tel does not communicate with its debt collectors because they sent me to Focus Receivables..

I had to go through the trouble of contacting Alltel, the original debt collector and Focus.

Focus was the least helpful, they pretty much demanded money.

Alltel could tell me all sorts of things about prior bills but were unwilling to commit to much helpful information. I had to wait til monday to contact AMO. they did not know why they were contacting me at all becuase their system showed the debt was paid in full.

so now I am waiting for AMO to send me a letter of clearance so I can then mail it to Alltel to clear my name.

tonight i got a phone call from focus receivables computer system, it was broken though as it said "This call is for..." and never continued.

I call focus after googling the number, finding this thread and realizing who it was.

The first call was never answered. The second call, to a different extension was answered then I was hung up on.

I called a third time and they told me to ignore the call.

pains in my ****.

I keep getting these calls often as well as calls daily from RxPharmacy. Every time I ask for information - name, phone number, manager, etc they hang up on me. I think my next resort is to call the police and file a harrassment suit. I'm fed up!!!

I have been getting calls from a Chris Smith, he leaves his number (877) 626-6287. When I call back all I get are recordings. I figured I'd go through the Company directory and their is no Chris Smith listed. It's very irritating to have them call at 8am on Saturdays. Don't even know what they want!!!

I've never recieved any calls from this company but I did receive a letter from them today about an MCI debt from over 7 years ago that was never legitimate to begin with. I believe the statute of limitations is 7 years isn't it? Well the lady (I use that term loosely because she was pretty damn rude!) insisted that it would remain on my credit report forever until I paid it. Then she so generously offered to let me pay half of the debt now and half later. Then I ever so generously offered to let HER kiss half of my ass now and the other half later!!! That was just before she told me to have a nice day and hung up on me! Screw 'em!!!

I have received may calls from these idiots. I have called the number, it tells me via a recording, that they are trying to collect a debt, and then they transfer me to a representative. It just rings and rings (I let it ring for 15 minutes). Sorry but all my bills are current, everyone is getting paid and on time. I am going to send them and my phone company a letter charging them with harassment.

After 2 years of calls I have hopefully put an end to them. Call Matt Peterson 678-228-3404. He is a manager at Focus and this is his direct line. Website address and number can be found at focusrm.com 877-362-8766 I called the number on the website and talked to a person who will block my number and make it impossible to be reentered into their records. She also asked for the managers name I spoke to - Matt Peterson. Hopefully this will be the end of it.

Here it is May 16, 2006 and I've been getting calls from the 678-228-3415 number twice daily for a few weeks now. If I answer it's one of two recordings. It either says enter your pin number, or it's a guy saying he'll be in his office. When I don't answer, it goes to my cell phone's voicemail. No company is ever identified.

I have been getting the calls for a few weeks, practically every day. I finally called them (from my work phone, don't want any jump-toll calls on my home account). After a couple of minutes of waiting I got a person (lady) on the line. I told her that I am constantly getting phone calls and messages from the company, and that I have no idea why. She asked for the phone number I am being bothered on, I gave it to her. She said that they are trying to reach such-and-such person (she actually told me a name of somebody). I told her that it is not me and she said that she is going to remove the number from the call list. I hope I am not getting any more calls from them.

I just called the 678-228-3415 number from my cell phone where I was getting these calls. After few mins I was on hold for CS, so I pressed 0 couple of times and got transferred to an operator. Told the operator that I just bought the new cell phone and I am getting calls from them which are not supposed to be for me and that I wanted my name removed from their list. She promptly did it and assured me that I'd not get the calls again. Its my first day since that call and looks like its fixed.

WE HAVE BEEN HARRASSED BY THIS COMPANY.
Before we moved, the dish was already up at the condo. When we ordered Direct TV, they had to remove the old one and install us a brand new one. When we received a bill, we had been billed to remove it. We are in dispute with Direct TV over this matter and they commissioned Focus Receivable to collect this debt which is less than $100. As a matter of principle, we are not going to pay this.
Focus Receivable is attempting to caolect this debt.
They call all day everyday.
Even After hours they use a machine to call us. When we answer we hear that fax noise.
I have written a letter to Bill Strang, Vice President of Focus Receivables. I used Title VIII, Debt Collection Practices as the foundation of my letter.
This Title explains when collectors can call and the posture they must take when making these calls. It further says that after sending them a letter the call MUST stop. I sent a very strong letter to them and copies to Robert andrews, COngressman - Diane Allen, Senator- DIrect TV- Marietta Georgia Better Business Bureau. I'll let you know how I make out.

I gave them my debit card number for payment on the 15th of last month. I didn't make it to the bank in time and the collector called my cell phone (my only phone) and asked me when funds would be available. I told her to try again the next day. The money was there, but the girl never ran my card. NOW they're calling me at my mother's house (WTF???) leaving nasty messages even after my parents have asked them to stop calling. I am in charge of Credit and Collections for my job and I pay my bills. I owned up to this one and wanted to pay. But, the a***oles didn't run the payment. NOT my problem anymore.

The same "focus receivable" company calls my house dozens of times a day. When I do pick up they ask for my name then when my husband ask can he take a message they hang up on him abruptly. When I call them to tell them that I will call the BBB on them they laugh and ask me for the number so they can call the BBB that is when I realized that it was a scam.

I've been receiving these calls as well for a fellow named either raul gutierrez or rafael gutierrez. If this person is on this board then maybe we can get somewhere with this, otherwise if anyone comes across him tell him to give these people the correct phone number. I am quite sure this person either gave a false phone number or i am using his old one. its pissing me off though and i am actually getting a live representitive talking to me, but he is rude and hangs up as soon as he can tell it isn't the person he's after.

These folks from "focus" were trying to obtain info on my small business. Like the person before me, I'm not interested in being put on hold when they call me & so I hung up too! If there is next time....I will tell them any further correspondence can be directed to my mail box. At least I may know what or why they are bothering me.

Focus Receivables is located in Georgia. They are extremely rude and abusive in their calls. Shut them down- they will just pop up somewhere else.

I just spoke with the FTC, which handles this sort of thing. If a debt collections agency is calling your home looking for a person who does not live there (and whom you probably don't even know), get their address, and write them a cease and desist letter that mentions the Fair Debt Collections Act. Explain that the person they are seeking does not live at that number, and that if they contact your number again, you will bring a lawsuit under the Fair Debt Collections Act.

I'm told this backs them off permanently.

They called and spoke with my husband yesterday, he was not rude and told them he would have to look into the debt they claim. Now today they have called 4 times in 10 minutes. The lady was very rude, she started screaming over me while I was telling her they just spoke with my husband yesterday. I got mad and said f*#&k you nad hung up. I then called the ftc and found that they are breaking the law first by not making contact in writing explaning the debt, and 2nd by repeatdly calling and harrissing after they were asked not to call until sending us explantion of debt. We ALL need to file complaint with the attorney general office to stop them. I have had to do the same for other debt collectors and after contacting the attorney general the calls stop.

These people have been told twice that the person they are calling for has not lived here in over a year, yet they keep calling. Is this legal? At this point,I'm going to try to block their phone number.

I got a call from these people the other day. It is a collection agency but the person they were looking for doesn't live here and hasn't lived here for at least 7 years. I told the lady on the phone that nobody by that name lived here and she got really rude with me. Kept asking if I knew the person, if they work and if I had a work number or cell phone number that I could reach them at. I of course don't know any of this information and I asked her not to call here again and she very rudely said "well you don't want to give me any information as how I can contact this person so we'll keep calling this number" and she hung up on me! I have noticed that they've called 2 more times while I was not at home but if they call me again and I'm here to answer I will be telling them that I am going to contact the police for harrasment if the calls don't stop.

I have been getting the same calls. Except I tracted them down to a company in New Mexico. I't is called Focus Recievable Management LLC. They have a message to call someone. Today they called and asked for my husband and I could hardly get his name from him. He did say company name or anything. I had to call back to find out the company.

I have the same problem. I have an account with them and paid $500 in Jan. and I have apid $300 in the last three months I have two kids so its hard to always pay them money. They get very rude with me and tell me that I am refusing to pay. Where do they get off saying that I dont want to pay when I have paid them what I can and when I can? Now it got to the point that they wanted to take a payment to pay off the balance and I told them no and they were still going to try to take it out of my bank account. I had to go and close out account immediately so they could take my money. I mean I understand that is theie job and they are trying to get their money, but they do not have to be so rude and mean. Maybe if they took a different approach they would get their money faster? Also I am tired of them calling my work, and calling my mother in law accusing her that its me, what is that about. They have no right to call my family when it is my debt. They make me so mad.
