I keep getting calls that show up simply as "Georgia Call". The person never identifies himself or who he is calling for, just that it's an "urgent personal business matter". The number on caller ID is 678-228-3415 and the return call number is 866-664-2513 .

I searched online and found nothing for either number. Just curious .. might be more inclined to call back if I knew who it was!

I get a call every day from this same number. The one time I have actually talked to someone, the jerk was rude and cocky. I am filing bankruptcy this upcoming tuesday. The attorney handling my bankruptcy told me to pass along my bankruptcy date on the next phone call and then request them to either contact the attorney's office or stop calling. My lawyer also informed me to keep a journal of the calls from this 678 number and if they continue to call, it would be taken care of. I am glad I found this site. Now I have the name of the company, their address, and other numbers for contact. I'm looking forward to the next time they call.

This is a very aggressive collection agency in Marietta, GA - Focus Receivables Management, Inc. They use an automated system to leave a message to call them. This system will call your every day which I believe is illegal for a collection agency to us an automated system. I have reported them to the FCC and the Federal Do Not Call people. In case you'd like to call Bill Strang, President and CEO to express your gratitude for his company's interest in your business wellbeing, he can be reached at work at 678-228-0000, or at home in Duluth, Georgia at 770-418-9953.

I spent the afternoon calling a few of the other numbers listed for Focus on the BBB website... There's a helluva lot of people away from their desks, in fact, the first 7 I tried. However, if you call their (678)228-0000, tell the nice secretary that you've tried to call their toll-free number and no ones is answering, she'll transfer you to AN ACTUAL HUMAN BEING. I told the next lady the phone number that was being called and that Ashley Smith was not at that number... voila, no questions asked, she said she'd take the number out of the registry.

The (678) number is not toll-free and it is to Georgia, so you may want to use a calling card, or cellphone with long-distance features to make the call.

If you're feeling more ambitious than I was, you might call someone more important like the CEO Harold listed above and let him know the FCC prohibits using automated dialers from calling cellphones, and/or you may also want to refer him to Title 47 US. Code 223 that states "any person making a telephone call without disclosing their identity with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harrass any person OR calls repeatedly to harass." is guilty of making a harassing telephone call. up to $50,000 fine and 6 mos, and I have a feeling that they have quite a few counts accrued.

Hope it helps,

The Wumpus

Its interesting to note the quoted US Code is Not FTC or a debt colletion law, but a law of the FCC. The Wumpus has avery good point here, and this maybe another avenue for consumer to persue. It also might be less likely for them to be able to argue their authorization to make such calls.

I got these phone calls on a DAILY basis, too. It's a collections agency called Focus Receivables Management, LLC
(as most everyone has already mentioned). It's probably in reference to some delinquent account you had no idea even existed. They tried to get me to give them my credit card/banking info over the phone. Of course I declined. Then, their staff became quite rude and unprofessional. I asked for some sort of documentation on the alledged account and they refused! I've called their regular office number (I googled them) to try and reach a supervisor, and...SURPRISE...an answering machine! I've also written them a letter, but I'd love to block their number in the meantime.

DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE. It is a crooked company that tries to bully people into paying allegded debts that have already been wiped off of peoples credit reports. They buy the debts dirt cheap in hopes of making money off of them. What they are doing is against the law. Write them a letter and send it through certified mail.

These people made me so mad, I now let my fax machine pick up whenever they call!
They were asking me very personal questions, like when do I get paid next, When does my husband get paid, what about my mother? I thought this was very rude and told them it was none of their business, they told me it was. So, now they get a long beep in their ear.

well it seems they've moved northward in their attempts to see how many people they can annoy. I got the recording, called from a payphone and got a recording, transfer to music, then transfer to an incredible rude woman who refused to tell me the company name or anything else without knowing my name. Ive blocked that number so I wont have to worry about them calling again. And from the manner in which they seem to operate I'm doubting they'll pay the price of a stamp to send me a letter!

You are right, they do have the right to call, because they are not marketing anything to you. They are calling you so that you pay your bill. Paying your bill is the best way to not have these calls placed to you. Instead of paying for attorney's, etc. just pay the bill and they will leave you alone.

I received a call this morning from a desperate woman who has been receiving calls for me at her home at a phone number which I never owned. She finally got their 800#, and called me to ask if I could call them. All she wanted was for them to stop the almost weekly, sometimes daily, and even repeated calls she has received for the past six months or so. I'm located in 434 area code of Virginia. I just called them to find out the scoop. I spoke with a Mr. Timmons (he would not provide me with his first name!). The company is called Focus Receivables Management, and he would not tell me where they were located. I have not checked them out yet, so I said nothing to the person regarding my information.

Just wanted to pass this along. I would love to turn them in! How?

Hi sdavis

Welcome to the forums.

Send them a written letter explaining that they are in touch with the wrong person. You should mention that they are required to cease and desist all collection efforts after receiving your letter. If they contact you, it will be a violation of the fdcpa law and you will be in charge of filing a lawsuit against them.

I also insist you to file your complaints at the FTC, BBB and the state attorney general office so that the government bodies can take necessary actions against them.

Following is the address to contact the company.

Focus Receivables Management
8306 Laurel Fair Circle
Suite 200
Tampa, FL 33601
Telephone: (813) 600-1129
Fax: (813) 630-0992

1130 Northchase Parkway Suite 150

I am also getting the call everyday and they are asking for someone I have never heard of. I called them back and asked them to take me off of the "dang" calling list and he told me that I was rude for using the word "dang", but he would take me off. Since then they have called everyday.

Me2

If the caller has to inform you anything, then he should call you up. He should not call your friend's place and disturb him.

If the company does not stop calling him, ask your friend to record the calls and inform the caller that the phone calls are being recorded for legal actions.

I have been getting calls on my cell phone for months now for a person I don't know. I have called and when I finally got a "live" person and told them I wasn't the person they mentioned and gave them my phone number, they suddenly hung up. I called today and talked with someone who asked me my phone number several times and then said that number wasn't in their database and he transferred me to a supervisor, which ended up being a voice mail to leave my name and number and he would call me back. I just said my number and the name they kept trying to call and said it wasn't me and to take my number off their database. We'll see what happens. When I had asked the person who answered the phone what the name of the company was, all I could understand was ----- Management. I figured it was a debt collection agency. I was glad to find this web site about this particular phone number. I have copied down the addresses given and will write them.

Hi Kristine

Welcome to the forums.

To make your request even more important and give it the legal shape, send a letter through certified mail with return receipt requested. The company should stop calling you after they have received your cease and desist letter.

The fdcpa law restricts the collection agency from calling you at your place of work or your home except to notify you about any type of legal actions being taken against you. Write in your letter that you wish to be contacted only through mail. Hopefully, they will stop calling you as it has been identified by them that they are calling the wrong person.

Kristine, do keep us posted on this matter.

Regards
Roxette

Send a cease and desist letter to the company. They must stop calling you after receiving your letter. Otherwise, it will result in violation of the fdcpa law.

Have you inquired the purpose of this call? The company might be calling you for some of your past debt account. Know the complete details and if they don't give the necessary details, send the C&D letter.

I called Mr. Bill Strand the CEO at his house and asked him to remove me because there was no person at our house with the name that was being mentioned. He was actually very polite and said that he'd take care of it.

Its been several months that I have been getting these calls and they are for some person who I have never heard of and am not related to. And I asked the person to stop calling me since he evidently is calling the wrong person---and he was rude and insisted that he never called me before!!!! and wanted me to give my personal information and I refused. And he became very obnoxious and I had to hang up the call.

I'm getting this, too. I only found the web page because of the phone number. I've never been in debt in any way, shape, or form. I've never owned a cell phone or a credit card. The name that they are calling sounds kind of like mine (barely) and it's telling me the same thing with the "call back 866-664-2513" They call me every morning and night and it's affecting my sleep. Let's keep bumping the thread. I want to follow this through and keep you guys posted on what I do.

So I called them and jsut sat on the line forever and ever and finally someone answered, I told them not to call me again, and she said that she was removing my number. The names don't match on the account. I still think that everyone should report them since they are using an auto-dialer. If you don't speak to a real person, and if they don't give you an opt out number, isn't that an FCC violation?

Dethwish, putting it in other words, a credit card company or a debt collection agency should not call you without any legitimate purpose. If they are calling endlessly, send a legal cease and desist letter. Once the company has received your letter, they are required to stop contacting you unless you have specified to be contacted by mail only.

fdcpa laws get violated if the company calls you after receiving this letter. Legal actions can be taken against the company and get compensated for the damages. First, you need to send the C&D letter through certified mail with return receipt requested and shape up the legal requirements.

Hi Guest

As you don't owe anything to Focus Receivable Management and are getting endless calls from them, you should definitely send a cease and desist letter to the company. This is a legal weapon which will force them to stop all further communications with you. Send your letter certified with return receipt requested. You will be able to defend yourself if the company takes any action against you.

I get these same phone calls all the time! Some times when I answer they wait a few minutes, without saying anything and then hang up on me. But when they do say something they cant tell me where their calling from and why, except for needing to collect some MONEY! Yeah, dont we all!! But most the itme they just hang up on me and they call at odd hours, like 8-10pm AT NIGHT! What the hell...I know a women that had this happen to her, not the same company but they would call and get your information, (like your SS#) for a bill collecter and they got her bank account#...She said they slowly took out $200 a month for while and the next thing she knew, she was $6,000 in the hole and had to pay the bank all of it back because they couldn't find who took her money!! Answer at own risk...

I called the number left at my mother's phone from these people. I am not working but told them that I could pay 25 dollars a month with a money order until the 250 dollars are paid. They said that they would not accept a money order and wanted me to get a relative's bank account number. Nobody would give that to me. But I would think that they should accept my money orders. They won't and threatened to let the bill sit until further action is taken against me. How can I pay this if they won't accept money orders. I have no bank account and am not working. I make a few dollars by doing odd jobs and have been trying to pay my debts off that way with money orders. Meanwhile they are harrassing my parents on their phone.

RLK,

Two questions first:

How old this debt is and which state do you belong to? If it is past SOL in your state, no one can force you for paying it.

They are not allowed to harass consumers. I recommend sending a cease comm. letter stating that you are comfortable with correspondence only. Send it CMRRR. If they dishonor your request, you can file complaint against them.

MO is definitely safe. I think you can insist them to receive MO as you don't have a bank account at all. Sending account info of a relative sounds very funny. How can they involve a third person in it? Try to get it settled with original creditor.

Keep us updated on this matter.

I will try to get them to send me validation of the debt or I will go to the original company in which they say they represent and see if the debt is real. The person I was living with at the time may or may not have paid this debt. Thank you for your advice.

RLK,

It could be helpful if you confirm about the debt with the original creditor. Also try to settle your account with OC, this could be easier.

Hi RLK,

Nice to hearing from you. send them DV through CMRRR and keep the copies of all your correspondences to them. It will help you to approach them legally.
