First take a deep breath!Has a credit counselor called you? When you signed up if you signed for the free consultation, someone should be calling you. As for the one calling at work, send them a debt validation letter and cease and desist to only contact you by mail

I got a note that I should call consumer credit counseling of america. I'll call them on my break. And what is Mailstriplashes.

Hi chicagobabe
Don't be bothered by the word mail striplashes. :) Two words got combined together. Striplashes comes by default when a url tag is not closed properly. (website stuff) :)
If you are able to make payment arrangements directly with the lenders, you can refuse to deal with the collection agency. Tell the lender and they will pull your file back from the CA. Besides, if they still contact you, send a cease and desist letter to the CA's mailing address and stop them legally from contacting you. The consequences of defaulting on payday loans are fatal. Everyone here is learning from their mistakes and making promises not to take any such loans again. I hope you also have learnt your lesson the hard way. Get in touch with your consultant and see what he has to offer you on the table.

I've been watching this forum for a couple of months now. I've read so many testimonials that they were able to solved their pdl nightmares by signing up w/ pdl consolidation company and doing debt counseling. I've done the same thing but until today I can't see any light and I don't feel any better other than I'm not alone in this worst situation. I've called different companies but I'm still getting the same answer. My problem w/ pdl is way beyond and it can't be consolidated and can't be arranged. Am i doing the wrong thing because some people are getting the right answers and I'm not. I finally spoke to my consultant but get the same answer. She advise me to consider bankruptcy. With 13 pdl, the only option I can do is to offer them atleast half of what I owe them. And that's what I dont't have right now. I have to secure my house payment first, then pay my car payments, by doing that would leave me to 0 bal. I don't know, I'm confuse and so desperate of help.

Hi Chciagobabe0725.
I'm sorry to hear your troubles. Sometimes debt consolidation isn't the right option for every one, unfortunately many don't figure this out until its too late. You say you have 13 PDL's? I must assume these are all (or at least 11) are Internet lenders (as under Illinois state law, you cannot have more than 2 loans out at a time, and those must be through licensed lenders. Yes. Payday Lenders who lend in the state of Illinois are required to be licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
I am also in the Chicago area and am happy to help if I can. Can you please share with us more information on what you have done so far with these PDL's? There are several members of the community who have had success in getting PDL's to mark accounts as paid and in some cases get refunds if they have paid in excess of what state laws allow.
