I had two credit cards that were from Citi, one was an old store card and the other was my Sears Card. When I signed up with my program several years ago, they accpeted my payaments through my program just fine. I would still have the debt management company send them a proposal and see what happens.
If it means missed payments, yes. I missed about 2 months worth.

I think as long as you send them something each month, they will accept. I have 2 chargeoffs and one of mine, I only send them $15 mth. They don't seem to have any problem with it, b/c I don't get the $ back. Maybe you should just keep sending them what you can, even if it is $20 mth.

but even if you just send them something each month, your balance will accrue with late charges/fees and it'll just get larger and larger...right?

I am not sure about being able to sue, but I would just call them and let them know you are having financial problems and are going to be sending what you can. If that will not work, then maybe you should enroll in a dmp. Be very careful when chosing one and check them out good. I was enrolled in one that didn't send the pmts to the creditors until a month later.

Well I recently enrolled in a debt management program which is to begin payments next month. Since I am already enrolled in the program, would I be breeching any kind of agreement if I called my creditors to try to work soemthing out?

Citi Will NOT NOT NOT work with settlement/debt management companies..........don't be fooled by this, they will NOT. I know this because it happened to me. the best way to deal with this is to deal one on one with them. they will NOT deal with your company

Citi bank will sue you for not making regular payments unless you work out a deal with them specifically, they are a hard ball company. they will sue you.

I would take the advice from the guest, as if he has already tried. You might want to pull CITI out of the program and just work with them alone.

I sent an email to my dmp in regards to CITI and how they DO NOT accept 3rd party programs and this is what they had to say:
"In regards to Citibank, they are actually a creditor that we deal with on a daily basis. They do accept proposals for programs like this, and in fact, are one of the easier creditors to deal with in the first enrollment process."
After hearing peoples experiences with citi, should I still be worried??

Hon, all I can tell you is that i had entered citi in a settlement program and i got sued by them anyway, i got a summons delivered to my door. when i notified my settlement co of this, they sent me instructions on how to settle the account because citi would not deal with them or any other company, they would only deal with the one that owed the debt! I had to get my settlement company to send a letter saying they were not representing me in order to settle the account. many of your companies are not even accepting citi as an account because of this. I don't know what to tell you about your company. they are NOT NOT an easy bank to deal with I can tell you that. My settlement company basically didn't give me all the facts and hid alot from me. i'm not saying yours is......but i would check around with other settlement companies asking if they accept citi into their programs just to make sure. and/or do searches on citibank and settlement / debt consolidation programs and see what comes up. I would be cautious, i can tell you that much.
Success with Citi
I am in a dmp with one of the creditors being Citi and have no problems in the past with them. Unfortunately I was dealing with RA Brennan, you could see all of the threads associated with him on this site, and payments were not being made by him for the past few months. I called them to work it out and was actually able to work with them to make very low payments with 0% financing and no fees as long as I authorized automatic withdrawls from my account, knowing the situation and that I was going to be working with another DMP. This is set up to occur until the new DMP company takes over my account in December and then I will go back to the negotiated payments through the new company. Good Luck!

Well my dmp says they work with them on a daily basis and that they do accept their programs. They feel very confident when they said it. I don't know if I should trust them or just call citi on my own to try to work soemthign out. I"m very worried here.

Well as an update, I called citi and informed them of my situation and asked if there was anything we can work out as far as a payment plan. The lowest they could offer me was a payment I still could not make around the $200 mark. I then informed them that I was enrolled in a debt management program and that I heard from alot of people that citi does not work with programs and the rep told me that was not true. She said since the payment plan she offered was not good with me, she said to wait till my dmp sends in the proposal as the payment plan may work out better. Do you think I can trust what the rep said?

I think that the program that I was enrolled in for the few months before the new dmp kicked in was called the "Bridge Program". Not sure what your balance is with them, but mine is about $13,000 and I am paying $136/month until the new DMP kicks in. You may want to ask specifically about that program. If I remember correctly it is good for up to 6 months until your DMP and Citi have reached an agreement and terminates as soon as a payment is received by the DMP directly.

Well my balance is a little under $4K but thats with late fees also. I wish I would have know about that while I was on the phone with her. I don't knwo if I wanna call back. Well citi will be getting a payment from my dmp on or before 12/15/06 which is about a month away. I'm going to try to send in another payment in the next week or 2 just to show something is being paid. I'm thinking about calling my other creditors to see what can be done as well. American general worked with me and citi tried.
Would I be able to call my creditors to work something if I am unhappy with how my DMP is working?
