You can contact your state Department of Finance and request a copy of the list of licensed companies in your state or you can look in your phone book. But please be careful and make sure you check the company out through the BBB website to see if they have any complaints against them. You can also check with your state to see if they have any complaints about a company you are thinking about using.

Welcome to the Community :D Puddlejmpr is right, check into any company you are thinking of dealing with-also the BBB, and others who have used them successfully. You also need to ask about all their fees, hiden fees, etc.
Be aware, consolidating your debt will not clear your credit. It will look better than if you aren't paying at all, though.
