I've been getting calls from allied interstate for about two weeks now. They only call during the day when I'm at work. They leave messages about every fifth call which don't specifically ask for anyone by name, or say any more than please call Re: an important business matter. I'm working with a debt settlement company. Last week I had my debt negotiator contact Allied Interstate on my behalf. She was told by a manager at AI that they have no accounts under my name or SS#, yet the calls continue to show up on my caller ID. I'm just wondering what I should do, if anything? If they have no accounts under my name, or SS# why are they calling? Do they do anything other than collections? Has anyone else on here had any dealings with them?? Please share your experiences.

Thanks,
Kim

Hi Kim...

I have gotten several calls from them in regards to a past duue account which I am not disputing. At first contact with me they were extremely rude and threatend me with coming to my job and reposessing my car, which has absolutely nothing to do with the debt in question. After that I have gotten several other calls to the same tone, and I have asked for their address but they always hang up. Luckily I came accross this forum and was able to get the address and forward a cease communication letter, and I have also filed a complaint with the FTC and the State Attorney General's office. From some of the posts I have read here, Allied has violated the law on many occasions.

Kim,

Welcome to forums. Perhaps they are calling you by mistake since you are pretty sure that you have no accounts with them. If you ever be able to pick up the phone, ask for the supervisor and explain your situation to that person. Hope your name will be deleted from their list. If this debt is legitimate, you can think of paying it through a consolidation program or a debt settlement program .

I, too, have been contacted by allied interstate and the situations were the same as others listed on this site. First, the message does not say who they are calling for or what it is regarding. I finally called back and found out they are looking for someone with my same name. Rep was very rude!

I have also been getting calls from allied interstate on my cell phone with no messages and calls only to the cell and not my home. Don't have any outstanding debts so have no idea what they want. Aggravating they are wasting my minutes by using my cell.

msbasketrn,

Make sure that you don't have any unpaid debt. IWCB is a collection agency; perhaps they are calling you for some of your due accounts. However, people have raised questions on how much legitimate this agency is. So be careful before paying them. Browse this forum and collect some info on them.

Well, it's been a month and A/I still calls my home number daily M-F, but they leave the same generic message, with no specifics including nothing about who they are looking for. I have tried to call them back, but only get put on hold. After 10 minutes I hang up because at this point I feel they are wasting my time. The one time I was actually home, and did answer the phone...they hung up on me without saying a word. I'm not sure it's even me they are looking for. I have read several really bad things about this collection agency. They seem to one of the worst out there. The person leaving the messages is an Alex Mathews. Has anyone had any dealings with him?? Any suggestions on how I should proceed??

Me again... I did find A/I in the BBB website when I first started getting calls. They are not members, and have several unresolved complaints. There is also a lawsuit pending in MN against them. I think their main headquarters are also somwhere in MN, but they also have ties in West Palm Beach, FL. The calls that I am getting come up as Intellirisk on my caller ID, which from what I've found on the internet is an A/I division out of the Phillipines. As I have said...I have been working with a debt settlement company for about a year now. I have had my debt negotiator contact A/I on my behalf twice. She just called them the 2nd time this morning, and once again was told that they have no accounts under my name or SS#. Yet, what's on my caller ID AGAIN this afternoon...A/I! They've been told twice now that they have the wrong number, person, etc... I'm doing really well in my debt settlement program. I'm more than a year ahead on my monthly payments. This is really frustrating, because the creditors I really do owe are patiently waiting, and one I clearly don't owe is harrassing me. My negotiator called them in good faith both times to see if they really have taken on one of my accounts. If they have, she was prepared to begin negotiations with them. They would have been paid without a fight. I have every intention of completing the program making good on all of my debts. It's company's like A/I that really give collections a bad name. Anyway...keep me posted on all of your dealings with them, and I will do the same. If anyone does obtain an address or information for A/I...please share with the rest of us...NDebt

To make your legal move stronger, you can also send a cease and desist letter to their mailing address. Make sure that you have sent it through certified mail with return receipt requested.

Once the company has received your C&D letter, they must not call you further. Otherwise, it will result in fdcpa violations and you will in charge of taking legal actions against them. If the law is violated, you will be in stronger position with the help of your attorney.

Yes, they keep calling me too and I have no overdue debts. They said they are taking me off their lists and I will not receive any more calls. We will see.
I don't know how they got my phone number in the first place. The number they called was just installed for my Work At Home office and is paid for by the company I work for.

I have been getting phone calls from them too. They also called during the day when I'm usually not home. The last few times I have been home. All they do is have a recording say something. The recording says the phone number so fast that I can't write it down and of course they don't leave a message. I am ready to report them for such calls unless they leave a message or have a live person there when I pick up. I hope they read this. I have no idea why they keep calling me. Of course the recording is generic.

These people (collectors) are no different from telemarketers. They work in room with many others with their little headsets on and answer the calls that the predictive dialer throws at them. Your number hasn't been taken out of their system. Get their street address and send a cease and desist letter (return reciept), and demand your number be removed from their dialing system. After they get the letter, if calls resume, sue them.

allied interstate is doing me the same.......calling daily for what? I do not have a freakin clue to their reasons since they never leave a message, anyway. My debts are current as it was for several years now and with a very good credit rating to back it up. They call daily for weeks on end, nonstop! Since I am a fan of the FSU Seminoles, the only thing that I can think of at this time to reply back, is to play my warchant on my machine to disrupt the call they make, who knows it may work.

After reading some of ths postings on this site, I now understand what a garbage outfit allied interstate is. My Wife and I have received about 15-20 calls over the last few weeks and the caller ID said that it was Allied Interstate and when we would pick up there was no one there for about 20 seconds and then they would hang up. Finally today my Wife picked up the phone and someone was there. After about 5 minutes they finally let her know why they were calling and then after another 5 minutes found out that they were calling in regards to an outstanding credit card bill from 2003 and it was from her father who has been dead since 2003. I called the company and spoke with a guy named Mark Finnely who identified himself as the AVP. I wanted to give him the "heads up" as one professional to another that his people were not only being unprofessional, but probably committing dialer fraud, by calling us and hanging up. This guy actually backed the bad and idiotic behavior of his employees without caring that they were not doing their job properly. My advice to anyone that has to deal with this company and this comes from someone that does not even have them calling directly for a collection reason, hang up on them and report them ASAP.

I have read these blogs all day, and I am affirming my stance of consumer rights advocacy TODAY. I have filed a report with the Federal Trade Commission, as well as have a call forthcoming from the Attorney General of my state. As a non-debtor of Allied, I am being harrassed by phone calls for SOMEONE ELSE (I believe my neighbor).

I am a first-year law student, and I welcome challenges that bring home the point of me going into the legal field; I will NOT stand for such privacy abuses, nor will I allow others, if at all possible, to undergo the same. Please join me in a game of "Look What I Can Do", and use EVERY RESOURCE AVAILABLE to combat the social ills of this company, while making a statement to other like companies, that WE WILL NOT SIT QUIETLY and allow them to interfere with our RIGHT to PEACEFUL USE OF OUR PROPERTY.

If you believe there is nothing you can do, then you are a major part of the problem. If you are here reading, then I would hope that you are concerned enough to do your part. Thank you if you fall into the latter category.

This crap has been going on with me for about 2 weeks now. Everytime they call it cost me money, they call and that is ten cents then another 20 for the message then ten cents a minute to speak with them. They call three times a day with an automatic dialer and I can almost set my clock by them. They tell me they are representing BMG music which I fullfilled the contract with and even sent CD's back to them which apparently they never gave me credit for. They are a royal pain in the butt. The only bright spot of this whole thing is the big accounts they did have of mine have been removed and this little one has been more of a hassle than the others.

These people have been calling me for quit some time now... Always very rude! I have paid off a Dr.s bill last Jan. in full... I have all my recipets etc. They now have this on my step son credit report... How I guess because he and my husband have the same name... So for the second time this year I have sent them copies of all my proof of the bill being paid in full... Yes they are very rude and I think some thing should be done about it.....

I am also being called several times a day at all hours. This was a Sprint bill that I have tried to take care of for over a year. I do not owe this 800.00 cell phone bill and along with Sprint these people are not competant. How do I go about disputing the charges, Sprint is worthless to work with and I am tired of being harressed? They have told me they have put this on my credit report, but I just looked and it was not on the one that I looked on. This is just so frustrating because I have always paid my bills on time and have no other issues with any creditors.

They are incessantly calling my house and never say anything when I pick up. I do not have any outstanding debts so they would have no reason to call me. I'm dying for them to say something because I have a recorded line (I work from home) and would love to have recorded proof of an inappropriate conversation. Why do they bother calling repeatedly and not saying anything when we answer?

allied interstate has been calling me for at least two months. Their company name shows up on my caller ID, but no message was ever left, so I assumed "telemarketer." Finally, one day I was home when they called, so I answered the phone. Turns out they are a debt collection agency, attempting to collect a debt for someone who shares my last name, but not my first. They provided some information on the debt, and I confirmed that the person they're looking for is not me. I figured I was done with them, but I figured wrong. Over the next few weeks, I got at least a dozen calls (no messages) from them. Finally, a woman left a message with a name and number. I called back and once again conveyed that this debt was not mine. They assured me they would remove my phone number from the record. Ha. They called again today and I happened to be home. I was quite angry, and demanded an address and supervisor's name so I could send a letter to stop these harassing calls. "Victor" said he could not do that, but made a note to not use my phone number any more. I'm not holding my breath, and assume I'll be getting more calls from them.

The most frustrating thing about this (besides the obvious) is how did they get my phone number in the first place? I suspect they looked in public phone records and found me because my last name is the same as the woman they're looking for, and perhaps I live in the same area. Maybe they assume I'm a relative (which I'm not). I have taken the step of checking my credit report, and am relieved to see that I'm not the victim of identity theft, but how much longer will this go on? How many times to I have to tell these people to stop harassing me?It doesn't appear that they have my Social Security number associated with this account, but they're using my address (yes, I also got a debt collection notice in the mail), and my phone number. They are associating this debt with me, and I'm concerned how much further this is going to go. I feel powerless to stop it.

I have had phone calls from them everyday while I am at work. I seen where several people have said they leave a generic message. They have never left me a message. They call several times a day and its always when I am at work. I have an answering machine. It works just fine but they have never left me a message. Should I call them back or should I just keep ignoring them?

They have been calling me for about six months regarding all different types of debts for people that i dont know. It seems like its always a different name that they inquire about, but it's always on my home phone. I have called them back and repeatedly tell them that i am tired of this harassment and always get the same results. They tell me they will take my number of the list, and then w/in a week or two, I get a call for some other name. Is there any way I can stop this. I have threatned them with authorities, without any results. Problem is, they always call from a number that is not in service, so i dont know how to report this. Please give me any help you my have as to resolve this. thanks Mary

I owe money, who doesn't, I was contacted at work and told that I was about to be in wage garnishmnet. She told me that they were going to garnish 25% of every one of my paychecks. She told me I was "one of those people that don't pay their bills." I asked her what I needed to do to keep them from garnishing my wages, and she told me to pay the debt in full. When I told her I didn't have that kind of money. She said, "Well I suggest you find it." She gave me untill 3 days later to call her back with some money. She also told me that the repayment options I had previously negotiated were no longer available to me, and that if I made a payment of $50 that only $1 would go to principle and that I, "would never pay it off." She was deturmined to get money. She contacted my cousin, my mother, my grandparents, and my work. So many Violations. The last time that I talked to them I told them that I no longer wanted to communicate by phone, and would gladly send them a letter requesting written communications only, and they sure changed their tune. This one didn't threaten me, but appologized for the previous case worker. She tried to make it all better, and I gave her a reloadable visa number, to be drafted off of, but quite frankly after this company made angry by bringing me to tears, I am contimplating my legal options. So I guess the big question is "Are They Just Another SCAM?

I'm only 18, I don't even have debt-much less any CREDIT. This number has yet to actually speak with me, they just call and breathe heavily before hanging up! I thought I was being stalked at first before finding out that the company performs a lot of illegal credit changes! As someone currently working to go to college, I can't afford that kind of harassment! Especially when I have done nothing wrong! I ignore the phone calls now, but I'm still very worried! They call everyday in the morning- it always wakes me up, and this has been going on for over a week now! Please help!

If you have not already done so, pull your free annual credit reports at www.annualcreditreport.com You may not have a file as of yet since you're only 18 but nowadays 18 year olds are finding out that their ID has been stolen years before their 18th b-day. More often than not it's a close relative but there are people that also pay places like Mcdonalds and Taco Bell to look at employment apps and steal SS#'s from them.

I received a letter in the mail from Allied Interstate this afternoon stating that I owed $53.01 for some type of account with UPS (NCO)- LOW VALUE PROJECT. I have no clue what this could be for. I pay all my bills on time and have never missed a payment. I called them and stayed on hold for an hour and was disconnected before I got to speak with anyone. Any suggestions for how to handle this?

It won't help to ignore their calls. I continued to receive calls from them for months. Finally I found their number and called them.
At that time I was trying to clean up my credit report. I owed a small bill to the bank, I sent the bank $20 and when I told AI that, they went nuts and said I needed to pay THEM.
Of course they were rude and nasty with me so I told them I was sending the entire payment to the bank. They told me that I would have to pay a ton of interest if I paid the bank and I told them that I would rather pay interest to the bank than send them one penny.
I did send the full payment to the bank, they did not charge me interest and I have not received another called from AI.

I also get phone calls for someone that does not live here. How they got my phone number, I have no idea. I have told them repeatedly to remove my number and not call again. I have received 16 calls from them since June 5. Most of the time, they do not leave messages. They called again this morning, asking for the same person. I told them that I was contacting the AG office here in Ohio and they immediately hung up.

I too have been receiving calls from these people for months now. I had told them that i am not the person that they are looking for. They said they would remove my phone number from their list but the calls keep coming. Yesterday I received 4 calls from them between 9:16am and 8:49pm. They left no message and when I called the number (866-526-7795) on my Caller ID it said that this number was not in service. What can I do to stop these annoying calls.
