I am having some serious borderline harassment issues with the company, Cash Today Limited. They are calling me at work about every 15 minutes or so and are ignorant to the fact that I've told them a million times that I have filed (am filing) bankruptcy. They wouldn't give me a physical address and are calling from this number: 442084922780. They are leaving messages for me to call them back at 800-670-4705, but there is a constant busy signal at that number. The lady keeps telling me even if I'm filing bankruptcy I have to pay them an extension fee of 237.00.

I have told her about 20000 times NOT TO continue calling me at work and she just yells at me and tells me she'll keep calling until I pay them.

PLEASE HELP! If anyone knows an address for them that I can give to my attorney I would greatly appreciate it!

These people are crazy!!! How long are they going to get away with this?!? Sounds like it they take cease and desist letters as a big joke and it only encourages them to call even more. What is their problem? Direct the media to this forum maybe that will get their attention.

I just called them, they hung up on me. I called them again and got hung up on again so I called them agan. I was told they will not accept my payment, so I said then I don't have to pay since you are refusing my payment, which in turn saves me money. They transferred me to the "legal department" and they weren't in so she told me to call back tomorrow same time, same number (wouldn't that mean they would again be closed) so I told them they would be hearing from my lawyer (not that I have one)

Does anyone know what bank Cash Today uses. I would like to see if it is an unauthorized bank with the FSA or has anyone already checked that out already?

I have been reading all the post and I feel what everyone is saying. However my situation is a little diferrent. I am getting the phone calls at work and I am getting the threats at work and yes they did call my supervisor and tell her the police are going to be at my work on Monday to arrest me. The difference is I am the wrong person. I work for a large health insurance company and there are 2 people with the same first and last name spelled the same. They have her social, I verified that they did not have my social. They wanted me to fax them my SS card.( I am glad that I didn't now) This company gave me this girl's full name, address, SS number, DOB and mother's maiden name. I kept saying this is not me you have the wrong person and they kept calling me a liar and a convict. THIS IS REALLY NOT ME!! I had no idea who these people were until I started researching. I have had problems with our names before. I almost had my furniture taken for not paying my rent bill. I didn't know that you could rent furniture. The other problem is that this girl does not work here anymore so I can not tell her to call these people and to pay off whatever it is that she took. How do i get them to leave me alone. Any ideas???

I made the mistake of borrowing money from these people almost 2 years ago. I paid them back the money I borrowed and then some if you consider all of the interest fees. However, yesterday, out of the blue, I got a call at home by a woman named "Stephanie" telling me that she was calling to talk about the debt I owed them. Then today I received a call from a man I couldn't even understand telling me the same thing. I can't believe it's been almost 2 years and I have to start dealing with this again. I faxed them a cease and desist letter again this morning but I have a feeling they will not listen. Any other suggestions?

Cass, I just got the same call yesterday also. But be informed when they call you again or when you call them back, that you know that they don't hold a valid license in the state they are in and if they did then why did they get fined $50,000 for not having one? Plus they are not licensed in your state also.

Please go read the post on Cash Today Limited and you will see what I am talking about. That's how I learned about this and I filed a complaint with the BBB and then they contacted me. I haven't called them back though, yet anyway.

I need some help. I have been trying to read these posts but I do not have time to read all 48 pages. I receieved a call today from 442084922780 and the guy said his name was Jon, I really couldn't understand him. He asked for me and I said she isn't here can I take a message. He said he was with the investigation Dept and to call him back asap @ 800-670-4075. He said he was starting "legal matters" on me. I find it interesting that he is telling someone other than the person this info but after reading all these posts I can believe it now. I googled the number because I have no idea who these people are. I find all this stuff about them online. I filed BK in 2005 and haven't had any PDLs since. Does anyone know what other companies they may be affiliated with. I see that people have posted Sonic Payday and Cash4u (something). Is Cash today a seperate company? Any help would be great. The good thing is I work in IT/Telecom so we blocked all the numbers after reading these posts.
Thanks

I went through the same crap with them. I finally filed complaints with the FTC and the BBB and my local AG ( I am in RI) after one afternoon of non-stop calls at work. I received a letter from the Nevada Department of Business and Industry. Basically they are illegal and they aren't licensed in any state an my contract was considerd null and void.

I had a woman call me at 9pm EST time,I could not understand her, she sounded foreign. I asked to speak to someone else and she refused to do that. She kept going around and circles and did not get to the point of what she wanted. Also, during the conversation, if you say it was, she said,(her words), "this is bull-shit", I said something to her about what she said and she replyed that she said no such thing but I know what my ears heard. What can I do about this? Please anyone help

ks, you're correct. Anyone dealing with them needs to file a complaint with the FTC. End of discussion. :D

I just want to make a comment to those who have recently taken a loan or are thinking about taking a loan.

I have taken out a couple of loans from Cash Today Limited. I have never had any problems with them. But I pay them what I owe on time, even if it's a renewal.

Yes, interest rates are high but all payday loans are. If you need to talk to someone I usually call in the morning. If I get the voice mail I hang up and call right back until I reach someone (only happened once).

Keep in mind after reading the posts, those that are having problems with this company didn't pay back the loan they took out. You never take a loan, you can't afford to pay back.

I feel bad for those who have been harrassed. I would try to take action to resolve my debt ASAP. I wouldn't want to risk my job over a 200 loan.

Cash Today Limited is one of the biggest PDL scams on the net right now and the previous 49 pages is more than enough to prove that. Many of those that posted tried to pay the loan off but the company would have nothing to do with it. The scam is they try to collect payments for as long as possible at $60 each or whatever it is until they force you to close your account. Without study the companies books I would guess that the drag each victim along for at least 3 months at 2 payments a month before the account goes bust. This means they made $360 on a $200 loan in 3 months which is illegal in every state in the US I believe. So if you want to be a spokes model for Cash Today please take your crap and spew it somewhere else guest.

guest, thanks to dollars for his wisdom once again. And, might I add, I am one who "had a problem" with this company. And I did not "not pay my loan". I paid it PLUS illegal fees. I'm really glad you had such a wonderful experience with this illegal company; however, others who have overpaid and been threatened by this company have a different story to tell. Until you know all the facts (which you obviously do not), you should not post your opinions. Like I stated above, I personally overpaid my loan, was threatened by them, asked for more money by them - and you're going to "judge" me by saying I "didn't pay my loan". Give me a break. I'm glad I'm not you and have to look at myself in the mirror every morning.

Now, now, I don't know enough about every person's experience on here, but the point I think Guest was trying to make, was that whatever s/he signed up for, s/he did. And this included paying whatever s/he agreed to when they took out the loan.

I suppose the analogy would be you agree to buy a televsion set on Hire Purchase for $1000, but two weeks later, you realise that you could have paid only $500 (if you had the cash in your pocket in the first place) so you won't pay the $1000 you agreed to, but a lesser amount. No retaler will just let you off the hook, and it's the same with payday loan companies.

Shop around and find a company with more favorable terms. There are plenty of companies to choose from. Look, I'm sure Cash Today are scum, but if you lie down with dogs, you're gonna wake up with fleas.

Newbie

I completely and totally, 100% disagree with you Newbie. Sorry. Cash Today is a scam. They are operating illegally inside the US. They have a number of state and federal agencies after them and they have a number of violations filed against them. They try to operate outside the law and act as if they are above the law. They disregard the amount they are allowed to charge for a PDL in every state and they do not accept payment in full ever. Once they have your account info the bleed it until you close the checking account.

Your analogy is flawed. The analogy would be the legal amount to loan to buy a TV is $500. Someone not knowing the law agrees to borrow $1000 for the TV even though the company knows it is illegal to loan that much to buy the TV. The buyer????????s negligence of the law does not make the transaction legal. Just because a buyer has not been educated about the law does not mean the rest of us should turn our backs on the buyer. It is not like Cash Today is just more expensive than one company and over charging. They are illegally over charging and illegally collecting and that is the difference.

manny, I really hate to say this, but these guys are ruthless when it comes to phone calls. Especially at your place of employment. What works wonders is telling them that you're "no longer employed there." If there is a way you can get the calls (not being you) and say you are "no longer employed there", they won't call again. Other than that, just try to field the calls to your voice mail (remove your name from your voice mail if it's on there), or have the receptionist take messages only. They love to call. Over and over. If you can do it, get them to believe that you are no longer employed there. They'll hit your home phone and/or cell phone, but it's better than them calling your employer.

Contact the attorney general's office and register a formal complaint. This company is not licensed to do business. I have checked into this and know this for a fact.

I posted here a few months back about them harassing me at work. Someone with a Middle Eastern (possibly Indian)accent mentioned that I owed them $3000.oo on a 200.00 loan. They became irate with me. I then hung up. Five minutes later they called the front desk where i work at (i work in a hospital)and asked for me. My fellow employee transferred the call to me and warned me that someone with a thick accent was asking for me. I explained to her what it was all about and please handle the call for me. She did. I ran up to the front desk and she asked them if it was a medical-related issue and he said it was. She asked for his name, and he would not give it to her. He then hung up. I then contacted the BBB in Nevada and explained everything. I received an email from them and they said they will contact Cash Today regarding this issue. The BBB said that if they don't hear from Cas Today in 14 days, they will continue to pursue the issue with them until it is resolved. I hope everything goes in my favor.

Thanks Mannny726. I did fax them a cease and decist letter one time several months ago and they called me right after the fax was sent from my end. That was prior to my recent posting here. Now, the Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau are involved. If i receive any call from Cash Today, I will pursue suing them.

i have dealt with these folks myself and can tell you that they are truely a scam, if they continue to harass you at home , work, even at my aunt's house!! i have contacted my states attourney generals office and placed a formal complaint with the federal trade commission. appearently this is not the first time these type of businesses have broken collection laws in just about all the states of us. it's time that someone do something about these types of loan sharks and either shut them down or fine them heavily on behalf of all consumers they have harassed over the years. at this point i had to disconnect my cell and close down my accounts because they where attempting to take more money then i agreed to through my checking accounts. i will never deal with this type of loan company again.

I am dealing with this same thing from this company. They are calling for someone who no longer works here & when I tell them to quit calling they say "I will not" "I will call all day" --and they DO!!! I work in a hospital. These people are nasty & I have since referred all calls VIA a transfer to our security department who records all calls. The local police are also aware since this directly affects a hospital switchboard. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.....THEY ARE DIRTY!!!

I am the supervisor of the person who is having the debt problem and she gave my cell number that was given to me by my work, not my personal cell and they kept calling me and calling me. Luckily i'm a nice supervisor and my agent is not in trouble for this but I eventually had to call these people back and tell them that my agent was FIRED so they would stop calling me. I did this last night so we will see how it goes but this is rediculous. I have to put my work cell on silent when I get home every night just so I can keep my sanity with all the calling they do! This could eventualy get ME in trouble because i'm supposed to be reachable 24/7 in case of an emergency and I have to put my cell on silent!!! How am I supposed to hear it???? I am so frustrated already! I'm about to tell my Center Director about this so he can file a lawsuit against them if they don't stop!!!!
