My sister is hosting T'giving dinner for us, so we are headed to her house that evening around 6pm. Different for us, because we normally eat around noonish that day. Not sure what we'll do with the rest of the day, since they live in the country, and we've been banned from pulling in the driveway before 6:00 and disturbing their deer hunting!
I know we're doing all the traditional turkey, dressing, pies, veggies, etc. I'm making homemade apple dumplings.

We will have a fire extinguisher rated for grease fires nearby. The scariest part is when you place the turkey into the oil, grease spouts up through the cavity middle of the turkey. Most people dunk it in and get grease all over which causes the fire, but you have to slowly lower it in there. A DRY turkey helps too!

It is just the two of us this year so it is going to be toned down and very traditional. The usual roast stuffed turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, some kind of vegetable dish to be determined. I think I heard my wife say she was making cranberry upside down cake.

Yum!! Turducken in wonderful..And I don't even like duck. When John Madden used to commentate the annual Lions game every Thanksgiving afternoon, he would always cook turducken, and the MVP(s) of the winning team got to eat it. Now that he doesn't do the game anymore they just have a regular turkey. We can get it here in Meijer..It sells for about $60. Worth it.
We will have a traditional dinner..Plus some of our specialties..
Oyster stuffing
7-layer salad
cukes, sour cream, onions
baked brie (my fancy sister-in-law does that one)
oatmeal pie
What is 7 layer salad? Baked Brie is great with honey mustard.

Kash, 7-layer salad is one of my favorite things in the world..It is lettuce, onions, peas, cheese, mayo, bacon, and eggs! You make it and let it sit in the fridge overnight..The peas are frozen..This is the only way I can tolerate peas. It is so good!!
