If you are staying home, traveling, going out to eat, etc...wont you share with us whats on the menu OR just even your favorite dish around the Thanksgiving table?

We have such a diverse and regional board, it would be neat to see the different types of dishes and culinary traditions we have here on the board.

I am hosting about 8 people with the following:

Turkey-1 baked and 1 deep fried
Ham with my special homemade glaze
Mashed Potato
Homemade gravy
Stuffing
Green Bean casserole
Macaroni and Cheese
Broccoli, cheese, rice "hot dish" recipe from my mid-western grandmother
Corn
Rolls

Caramel Apple Pie
Banana Foster Bread Pudding
Pumpkin Pie

Hubby has to work and there will only be three of us..so it seemed better to eat out...besides my last foray into cooking Thanksgiving dinner was disaserous..to say the least. We have done Disney for Thanksgiving and we have done Christmas several times. It is a blast...we had turkey legs off one of the many kiosks.

this is my year to host the thankgiving dinner and my parents, sister and brothers, my children and grandchildren and niece and nephews will be here and probably my first husband will be here.(while we were married, we could not get along, but have been best friends after we divorced. we can talk about everything now even the problems we are having with our mates. when his fiance died, i attended the funeral to support him) oh yeah, my live-in bf will be here also. now my menu will consist of:
fried turkey(2)
dressing
ham
turnip and mustard greens
green beans (fresh)
homemade mac & cheese
potato salad
candied yams
fried corn
homemade rolls
colonial chess pies
sweet potato pies (don't like the aftertaste of pumpkin)
homemade apple cake
do you think i have enough?

volleyballmom - have to say I LOVE your avatar today...gotta love Jack!

My sister is hosting T'giving dinner for us, so we are headed to her house that evening around 6pm. Different for us, because we normally eat around noonish that day. Not sure what we'll do with the rest of the day, since they live in the country, and we've been banned from pulling in the driveway before 6:00 and disturbing their deer hunting!

I know we're doing all the traditional turkey, dressing, pies, veggies, etc. I'm making homemade apple dumplings.

suebee-I am a huge Jack fan myself. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who normally eats early on Thanksgiving :D ....we are eating around 1:00pm which is normal for us and one of our guests thought that was too early.

Thr turkey frying does take some finesse and need to have safety gear close by!

We also have Allstate and we chuckle when we see that commercial.

We will have a fire extinguisher rated for grease fires nearby. The scariest part is when you place the turkey into the oil, grease spouts up through the cavity middle of the turkey. Most people dunk it in and get grease all over which causes the fire, but you have to slowly lower it in there. A DRY turkey helps too!

Yum!! Turducken in wonderful..And I don't even like duck. When John Madden used to commentate the annual Lions game every Thanksgiving afternoon, he would always cook turducken, and the MVP(s) of the winning team got to eat it. Now that he doesn't do the game anymore they just have a regular turkey. We can get it here in Meijer..It sells for about $60. Worth it.

We will have a traditional dinner..Plus some of our specialties..
Oyster stuffing
7-layer salad
cukes, sour cream, onions
baked brie (my fancy sister-in-law does that one)
oatmeal pie
