Hello ~ I NEED HELP!!! I have a total of two payday loans out right now ($300.00 principle with United Cash Loans and $500.00 principle with Cash Transfer Centers; the interest/renewal fee is $90.00 and $135.00, respectively; due to renew/pay in full on 7/28/06). I am a resident of North Carolina, and (after reading previous emails on your website) understand I need to first close my Checking account & reopen another. However, I fear the bank may not allow me to open a second checking account due to multiple & previous NSFs (paid in full) from these loan companies. (In order to pay my rent/car note/etc., I would withdraw my direct deposited funds on paydays, PRIOR to the automatic debits from the loan companies hitting my account.)

Is there anything I can do to get on a positive side of these high interest loans? (I'll phone the bank tomorrow morning to see exactly what they say about a new account.) Thanks for all your help. ~ Jaye

Your best move would be to close your account. From what I understand payday loans are illegal in the state of North Carolina. United Cash Loans isn't licsened in any state to lend money and have violated laws in several states in regards to the pdl laws. Cash Transfer Centers is Sonic and they are one of the worst to deal with. You need to immediately revoke the wage assignment and give a copy to your employer. You can fax and email the wage assignment, then mail the wage revocation certified mail with return receipt. Cash Transfer Centers isn't licensed to lend in any state either and they are being investigated in Canada and I know that two of their sister companies have been shutdown for their illegal actions and charging outragous interest.

Jaye, Tammy is right. You are dealing with two of highly talked about loan companies. They have been in violation of most of the federal and state laws. CTC is the worst out of the two. They will try to take money from you over a disputed account. You have to thoroughly review your loan statement and see if the charges are done within the state laws. My advice will be to stay strong when talking with these companies and get something in writing before you send money. They have been trying to pocket money of others and in some cases they were forced to make refunds when charged excessively.
