Now awhile ago I posted a topic about a call I received from pre-litigations from 866-900-7694. Now today I get a call from a different lady form the same number 866-900-7694 and now she is telling me it's Bass & Associates. Seriously what is wrong with these people.
One day I get a call from a woman telling me to reach her at two 904 numbers. She then tells me she is from prelitigations/interstate wire compliance. Then the next day she calls and leaves the 866-900-7694 number to call her back on. Then today they are Bass & Associates with the same number. They proceeded to tell me i committed fraud and the papers are in the process of downloading and I will be picked up on site. She asked me if I had ever been picked up on site before. Not to mention I heard a few chuckles in the background. She told me they were going to be faxing papers over to my employers. The best part is she even gave me a case number.

I had Bass calling me on three accounts. When they started calling me I just kept telling them everything they were doing and saying was illegal and I just ignored their phone calls. I set my cell phone up so they would go straight to my voicemail. They eventually stopped calling me and shortly after that I filed bankrupt and I called the I-collect place and made them aware of my bankruptcy. I'm sure they have all received the bankruptcy notice by now. So I never actually had to have my bankruptcy attorney contact them, because they haven't tried to call me back.

Wanda,

Like I mentioned above, this company try's to collect on defaulted payday loans. Did your husband take out any Payday loans that you are aware of? This is a very hard company to deal with and your husband may want to call them back to see what or who they are trying to collect for. I must warn you though, they are very rude on the phone and they threaten people with all kinds of things. Don't let this company get to you, if your husband calls back they are going to try to get him to send a crazy amount of money by way of money gram.

Wanda,

Tell your husband to call them back and ask them what company are they trying to collect for? Once they give you the company name he will need to contact the original company and see what's going on, especially if he thought it was paid off. If you don't know the contact info for the original company, you may be able to find it on this site. Remember to tell him that this company has very illegal collection tactics and they are going to try to scare him.

They don't have an email address, you will have to call them. Some people have tried to send debt validation letters to an address given in some earlier pages of this topic, but I'm not sure how successful that was. There are some question as to wether the address actually belongs to the company or not.

Not sure who exactly that number belongs to, but it's a verizon number out of ridgewood, New jersey

tndatabase.com is how I found that out.

So many people on this website have had to deal with that company and their rudeness. That's why we are encouraging everybody to report it to their local Attorney's general office. This company needs to be shut down.

I actually got a call from them about a month ago. Since my mom and step dad are both attorneys, I got really scared. I didn't want my screw up to affect them, which it could. So, I borrowed the $595 they wanted and paid it off. I did two online payday loans in June, and now have paid both of them off. I got a call a week ago from LTS Management (or something like that) and they said that Brad Regan (name also mentioned in a previous posted entry) had me only pay off one of the things I owe them. I owe them another $200, the amount of the loan. After reading all of these posts, i think they are just trying to get more money out of me. I emailed Mark, this latest guy to contact me, and told him that I want the exact date and amount of each of the advances, even for the one that I paid off. I'm going to be calling Bass & Associates back, even though I paid them off, to have them tell me the same thing. I kept my Moneygram receipts for both payments I made (To bass and LTS). That way I have proof of payment. I hope. Does this sound to everyone to be the right course of action? What really scared me with bass is that I work at a bank. When they told me they would be coming to my work to arrest me, and that I was going to be charged with 4 criminal counts, it really scared me.

I have received numerous phone calls from this so called Bass and Associates. The man's name is Ken Blake and he said that they are going to come and arrest me for bank fraud or something like that. How do I stop the harrasing phone calls and what do I need to do to get this matter taken care of? I don't even know who these people are until I found this forum. He said it was about A PDL. What should I do to get this all stopped and can they really file papers to have me arrested and thrown in jail?

They are not going to come and arrest you. They are practicing very illegal collection tactics and many of us have been harrassed by this company. Don't let these idoits scare you into sending any money, as you have probably read you are not alone. What state do you live in? Tell these dirt bags, you are not sending any money until you see something on paper (debt validation). Have you defaulted on any PDL's loans previously or in the past?

first of all, all of you need to find something better to do with your time then take out loans, spend all the money, and then come up with stupid excuses about why you cant pay them back... ("i had fraud on my account, someone stole my check book, i couldnt find the companys number, i already paid") then you get on here and come up with a million things that "collection agencies" do wrong, and their "illegal" scare tactics so you can try and get them shut down instead of just being a responsible adult and paying your debt. i mean, why borrow money if you know you cant pay it back, thats just stupid. i understand things happen.. but you all need to understand that there are people doing this every day, and the companies are getting sick of it. also, you might want to look in the dictionary at the definition of "harrassment".

Tell you what - I'll look it up if you learn proper spelling and the principle of capital letters.

The fact is that most people do not have an issue with repaying their debts. We all hit hard times - we simply ask for a little help to get them repaid. Many companies will work with you. There are a select few that use illegal tactics in an attempt to collect a debt, from threats to misrepresentation and so on. The Fair Debt Collection Act was created to protect people that want to do right but are harassed beyond belief.

I too received a call yesterday, then googled the phone # this morning and found this website - I'm so glad I did! I thought my debt was paid, have heard nothing from United Loans over the past 8 months or so, then out of the blue, Candice from Bass & Assoc. calls threatening me with jail, faxing my employer, bank fraud, and had me scared to death. My blood pressure cannot take this type of scare. I didn't sleep at all last night, thinking of how to send them 1/2 of the $ today, then finding this site saved me alot of grief. I have just mailed a certified letter to them asking for a detail of the debt they say I owe, and asking them to cease the calls. I inserted the Fed'l Trade Commission Act parts that talk about harrassment, proof and ceasing communication. Wonder if I'll hear from them again???? Today at 1pm was my deadline, it has passed and no calls from her yet!

They told me to do a money gram for $820 and when I asked them to tell me what the amount was for all they could say is that they could not provide me that information until the payment was made or after they filed the case with the police and that the police would come get me at my job. Is this going to happen, please help, I am running out of time.

they threaten people... you people are very nasty... i have enough in my life at the moment with a loss of a son.. you can not threaten to pick us up at a drop of the hat... it goes through a do legal process, courts, sherrifs office and we are given a notice from a deputy to appear in court. OR, comes through mail in which u may get yourself an attorney or get legal representation.

I have too recieved a call from Bass & Associates back last month and most recently, yesterday. I have pretty much experienced the same things you guys are talking about. Don't let thems scare you, because you cannot be arrested for a debt. I have filed a complaint with the BBB in Jacksonville, Fl and also have sent them a validation letter. As soon as, I get something back from them.. I will negogiate a reasonable amt to paid off the debt. But I will not pay the $700, bucks they say I owe. I will only pay the original amt borrowed, plus the fee. If you need to contact them here is the telephone # and physical address I was given:

1-877-281-2224
Bass & Associates
9738 Arlington Expressway, Suite 323
Jacksonville, FL 32225

I hope things work out, but we all need to be responsible, after all we did borrow the money, but you do have rights as well.

Good luck

AmandaB, what state are you from. OH has an online complaint form you can file, it is the best way they told me because you will get a quicker response. I would check to see if FL has an online complaint system as well. But you do need to send it to both agencies. In OH if you have multiple companies, then you do a complaint for them individually.

Yes Florida does have an online complaint form, just go to http://www.myfloridalegal.com/ and you can fill one out. When I did my complaint to the FL AG's office, I called and did it over the phone and the guy was so nice. I then received some papers in the mail that I had to fill out and get notorized and then send back to them. 1-866-966-7226
You can also print out a complaint form and mail it in as well.

Please, don't worry. These threats are becoming all to common among these collection agencies. They are violating the fdcpa by issuing threats. You will not be arrested, they will not send the sheriff to your job, they can't cost you your job, you will not be charged with internet fraud. You need to immediately file a complaint with the Florida Attorney General and be sure in the complaint to give the person's name that issued the threat and list all threats issued by the person. They are committing a crime and they have to be stopped. If I remember right, you can go to the Florida AG site and file an online complaint. Do not send them a dime.

Send them a cease and desist letter certified mail with return receipt, and also fax it to them. You can demand that they quit calling your job. If it gets worse, call the sheriffs department and file a complaint against them for harassment. If your boss fires you over their harassment, you need to sue them for loss of your job! That is a very strict violation of the fdcpa. No collection agency can cost a person their job. Who is the orginal creditor of this account? You can contact the orginial creditor and let them know what this agency is doing, and I have heard of the oc taking the account back and making arrangments. Like I stated above DO NOT send Bass & Associates anymore money. Chances of the money you have already sent them, they never turned over to the original creditor. There is an extremely high chance they are illegally collecting the debt. Have you made them validate the debt to prove they legally have the account? Their actual name is Bass Prelitigations.

GUERRA,

Go to the Florida Attorney General site and their is an online complaint form to fill out. You do not have to directly deal with Bass! They have verbally refused validation. Here is the link to the complaint section of the Florida AG.

shells1777,

Go to the California Attorney General site and you can also file an online complaint.
