Collection Agency Ranking forum?

I do believe there are some ( but probably not many) debt collectors that do what they are supposed to do, and abide by the laws, who treat people with courtesy and dignity. They should be recognized for that. Those that don't should be recognized as well.
You could maybe even expand to actual creditors (Bank of America, Retailers Natl Bank, chase, HFC, etc). So people can see clearly what others direct experience have been. Any thoughts?

Okay, let us get the inputs form the other moderators as well.

I think it would work. I came here looking for a particuliar company.
Would you just rate them or would there be a comments section too? If I had know what others had been through, and what to do and expect from the company, it would have saved me some time.
I also think it would be good in the fact that some companies don't work with settlement, etc., and this could be put in the comments. Don't know how it would be set up, but think that this is a good posssibility..karen

Not only do I agree that this IS a good idea, but it may possibly boost Debt CC's rankings with the major search engines also. As long as it doesn't turn into a CA bashing party, and is policed well, it could be a very beneficial addition. :)

I'm think something along the line of rating on a scale of 1 to 5 1=poor/ Disagree 2=Below average/Somwehat disagree 3= Average/ Agree ; 4= Strongly Agree / Above Average; 5= Exceptional.
Maybe 5 to 10 Specific questions, and a limited amount of space for comments, say 1000 characters. Restricted so that a person could only post to a specific CA or Creditor 1 time. Detailed discussion would still be directed to the established forum. Maybe combine with the Collection Agency Address book to clean that forum up a little.
Shazzers you are correct, it would need to be well moderated, possible requiring aditional rules not covered by the TOS for that specific forum (mainly to protect Vikas and the community from law suits).

Maybe they could put a discalimer that these ar the opinions of the person who gave them or soemthing so as to not get in trouble legally. It would have to be monitored carefully so as not to get alot of nasty comments or spammed.
I think, aslo, like you said, to be able to put positive comments as well.
I had one CA work with me with no problems, actually 2.
This will probably take some work to make it doable, and not just a complaint forum..

I don't think we will see too many good ratings because those who normally do have good experiences aren't looking for help in dealing with them. Also the fact that most people do not really like to talk about debt and don't come here because they have been treated well by a collection agency.

I agree with FYI - I think it would just turn into a place to bash collection agencies. Very few people post about their good experiences, most are here to get help with a bad experience.

My intention isn't necessarily to get "good" ratings, but honest ratings which relate others experiences so that people dealing with a particular agency can get an idea what to expect.I think it would be quite interesting to see the mix of experiences a particular agency may garner. I can think of one agency I have dealt with that has had some pretty bad stuff written about it in the forums, but my experience was not all together bad a 3.5 to 4 on my previously posted scales.
FYI and Goudah are correct, this could have the potential to turn into a bash fest and would require careful moderation and control. Some additional rules and restrictions would have to be place on this particular forum to keep things as fair and honest as possible.
As I stated previously:
Make it so that posters would HAVE to make a rating to post any comments. Restrict posters to a Single post per poster per topic/Agency ..

I have to agree with FYI and Goudah! It would be a a stage for airing frustration, cause conflicts and attract the trolls. There could also be legal issues if unsupported claims were made against a particular company

Why don't we add a rating for a thread? Like asking if the thread was helpful and for them to rate it.

I think this idea would be good if certain restrictions are met.For example make sure we are always in legal compliance & requiring persons to be signed in as members so we can monitor it.This could be a way of giving honest feedback vs endless ranting.

We have tried to consolidate the experiences of our members on these collection agencies. I hope it'll serve as the one stop shop for the information seekers and they'll get the required information at one glance. They can then weigh their chances against dealing with these CAs.
Any suggestion!! :D

HI Jason,
While not exactly what I was thinking, its pretty darn close and serves the same purpose, now how could we go about developing more of the same for other agencies? or just wait until there are so many about a particular agency? Shoue there be a Top Ten list? Top 100? Obviously you cant set something up for EVERY agency out there, but how to decide which ones deserve such a place of dubious honor?
