How do I find out if NRS is licensed in Alabama?
Thanks!

Those jerks are located in Garden Grove, CA. I dealt with them before I even knew about this forum and site. I defaulted on a payday loan. I got a call from a John Edwards from Noble Recovery and was told I was going to be sued if I don't pay them $600. He said it would be for bank fraud, which is illegal in the state of CA. AND they said they already served papers and it was refused at my house, the only reason why I called because on the voicemail he said it was concerning my property. I was scared so I paid them $450 on a $200 loan. Deposited directly into a Wells Fargo account. I still haven't received a PIF letter. This was just last month! ALSO the 714 number they gave me was disconnected. They ended up calling my parents to "find me" and I got 866-979-5505. Message from a David Werner. HE said it was discconected because they moved offices from Santa Ana to Garden Grove....gee I wonder why that is?
Please don't get taken in by these jerks!!

DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT NRS IS JOKING OR BLOWING SMOKE. THEY ARE NOT ONLY LICENSED IN ALOMST EVERY STATE BUT THEY HAVE ATTORNEYS ON RETAINER THAT ARE VERY AGGRESSIVE, HEARTLESS, & RELENTLESS. THEY PROTECT THE CREDITOR TO THE FULLEST EXTENT (NOT THE DEBTOR). PAY THEM ASAP BEFORE THINGS GET WORSE!!!!! TRUST ME I KNOW........

How old IS this debt (PDL)? I've dealt with these 'people', as well. They told me the same thing, "they would come to my house (even though I live in the East Coast) and sue me", etc. This happened a few years ago. When I spoke to them, I told them never to contact me again. I never heard from them since. They are just a scam company. DON'T pay them a dime!!

They threatened today that they were going to come to my work and they even called my boss. They are also saying the people I listed as references are now implicated in legal forms that have been put on their desk and they stated the people's names. Which is untrue. They want to meet with me outside of work? That's scary. I can't find if they are licensed in CA and would like to know too.

DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE FRAUDS. THEY DON'T HAVE LEGAL DOCUMENTATION STATING WHO THEY ARE, THEY DON'T SEND LETTERS OR EMAILS, THEY GET YOUR INFORMATION, TAKE YOUR MONEY AND THREATEN YOU IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE, AND YOU NEVER GET TO KNOW WHERE YOUR MONEY WENT. TRUST ME. I MOVED TO TEXAS AND THEY SAY THEY WANTED TO SUE ME FOR FRAUD AND THAT THEY ARE GOING TO SUBPEONA MY REFERENCES, AS WELL AS CALL MY JOB, MY BOSS, MY HR DEPARTMENT, AND PAYROLL AND GARNISH MY WAGES. THEY CAN CALL ALL THEY WANT BUT THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING. BE SURE TO LET YOUR BOSS KNOW EVEN THOUGH IT IS EMBARRASSING, BUT SO THAT THEY DON'T LET THEM TAKE PART OF YOUR PAYCHECKS.

They are not even on file with the Better Business Bureau, or accreditated with them. The Federal Trade Commission has had had numerous complaints about this company and also realizes that they use legal terms and present themselves as a law firm t hey lie and threaten and say whatever they can using scare tactics in order to get you to pay. No matter how many times you try to call their numbers back they are disconnected. Whenever you continuously ask for legal documentation asking who they are and what debt they are collecting on, they refuse to provide that information. They will lie and say there are agents being sent to your home or your work, LIES. You have every right to pay themif you want, but pay what you can, don't end up homeless from paying these jerks their full balances. They don't care if you live or die and certainly don't care to prove who they are.

Anyway, thanks for your posting because someone from NRS called my job today and my supervisor took the call! I was soo embarresed but I was not sure what is was about until I called. I had spoke to a Elwood Johnson who was also rude and I actually sat there and negotiated to try and pay and they would not except it by the date I told them I would pay. I got all their money gram info but, now I am not sure if I should pay them? Opinion anyone? Have they bothered you anymore?

This company is a joke.
Dont trust them, dont speak to them, and MOST IMPORTANTLY...
DONT PAY THEM! They prey on ignorance & misinformation.
Im still waiting for them to email me documentation that verifies their legal right to collect the supposed debt thats owed.

KEY WARNING SIGN: any company that engages in inappropriate collection behavior like this is probably not a company that should be trusted.

Iam having the same trouble with these people. I had a payday loan and was paying my fee as I was suppose to. Then I had fraud on my bank acct and BB&T suggested that I close the acct. Then mrs started calling and even called my employer and wanted to know about property and when I was going to be on premises there. I will pay my debt. Does anyone know how far they can actually take this? The said it was bank fraud???????? Any suggestions are appreciated!

they are lying.you didn't commit fraud.a couple of questions.

1)what state are you in?
2)how much borrowed and how much in fees debited so far?

you might be suprised as to how little you do owe.NRS is a prime bottomfeeder.they threaten on a pdl because chances are this pdl was illegal, and they really can't collect on it.so they threaten.please provide the info requested and we can help you here.

Who are these people? They did the same thing to me, told me to send $510 today or they would sue my husband. I told them I couldn't pay until tomorrow and they were rude and hung up. They said that they would serve my husband and call his business to garnish the wages. I told them I would send tomorrow. But now reading this, I will not. I will deal with the collection company. Yikes! Who are these people???

they are the most unprofessional company to ever deal with. they do not do anything correctly and every way they try to attempt to collect a debt is illegal. read all posts and forums about these people. You will learn quite a bit.

They will continue to harrass you. I am still in limbo about what to do. They will call your friends, your place of employment, your cell. The stupid thing they did do, was call the billion dollar company I work for who will not lose me for anything. They are sending a certified letter stating they may not contact me anymore at my place of employment. They also left a message on my 2 friends cell phones, as well as mine stating that they are my human resource department. LOL LIARS. I can't belive they made that mistake. My company does not tolerate this whatsoever. I have documented all calls and conversations. If you are lucky like me, RECORD IT. They do not record their conversations, they simply document. That's it. They will scare and threaten but if you send some sort of payment monthly, then in the long run, if it happens to go to court, it shows you tried to pay. and trust me, they will cash it no matter what amount it is. these people don't know how to be professional nor will they show proof of who they are and what debt they are collecting on.

I too had a call today from NRS. I spoke to Ms Austin. She was explaining that I had a PDL from First Bank of Delware that I received back in Feb 2007 and that I owed $638.00. Another person came on by the name of Hal Jordan and he was a real jerk. He told me if I dont pay this by the end of day he would call my employer and the hr dept and hve me fired. I live in AZ and I need to know what is their legal right and what is my legal right in this situation. Does anyone know? Just need some advice

I got a call from this NRS yesturday. They also called my HR department and asked the receptionist if she could Identify me because I was going to be served. No one ever showed up and my HR manager called and told a Berry Stanton not to call my place of employment again or show up. They are very rude and try to scare you into paying. DON'T DO IT. They are not licensed in Arizona. I filed a complaint with the Attorney Generals Office.

Okay, they scared the bejeebers out of me, but had seen something a while back on some investigative program about a similar situation; sounds like it is an old payday loan, just couldn't pay any more (I know, TMI). No longer live at the home address they have, my daughter does (we are NOT on good terms), can they come looking for me? Should I contact them? Single and working part-time, living with son and his family; will tell my employer, but really want to blow them off - any suggestions?

Its funny I just had a run in with Hal Jordan this morning, they took unauthorized payments from my debit card and got pissed because I disputed them. When I called them this morning this jerk basically said I had a mental problem and was very mixed up in the head. Didn't want to hear anything I had to say and said he was not acknowledging the original payment I made with them and would take legal action for the full balance that first bank is stating I owe. By the afternoon the original person I spoke with at NRS was calling me to see what happened. I told him I didn't appreciate being insulted by who he stated is one of the owners and didn't want to discuss this any further today. My bank is working on crediting me back the funds since they state I am not going to be credited for them.

They were bothering me in April and then stopped. Now today in the last 3 hrs they have called my cell and said I was going to be indicted by the state of california, my work to verify I'm there so they can serve me papers and my friends I listed as references (I assume this is from a payday loan from 2008), also telling them they were going to be indicted by the state of california. I asked them in April to provide me the info of who the debt was too and they have not done that. Does anyone know what I can do about them? I checked with the BBB and they are not licensed in the state of california. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I am SOO frustrated. I have not heard of Noble Recovery Service. However, I learned the hard way that there is more than one National Recovery Service and several collection companies that go by NRS. After dealing with enough BS, I had time at work one day, so I looked online and took down the address from the National Recovery Service website. I was going to show them that not everyone can be bullied. I had my attorney contact them only to find that I had never had an account placed with them. So, I learned the NRS or National Recovery Services located in Kansas is licensed to conduct business. Save yourself the headache and embarassment that being a scatter-brain caused me. Get the phone number and address on the first call or save any correspondence you receive.

I need there email address I live in Mass and look what I just found.
Massachusetts Payday Lending Laws

Along with Maryland and Georgia, Massachusetts is one of the few states that not only prohibits payday lending within the state, but prohibits local banking companies from working with out of state payday lenders to provide Massachusetts residents with payday loans as well.
There are a number of ways in which a state may prevent, or at least limit the payday industry in a state. Small loan interest rate caps, usury laws, or specific prohibitions on check cashing are the most common methods. Massachusetts uses the usury laws method.
The last battle that the state of Massachusetts is fighting concerning payday lending is in the online world. Although it is illegal for out of state payday lenders to offer Massachusetts residents payday loans, some companies are attempting to do so. They are currently being investigated.

I share the same name with someone at work and I received the call from NRS Mr. Edwards and I explained they had the wrong person and they need to call her at home. He refused to believe me and said I was lying and mocked me and made fun of me. I hung up and he called me back again for more harrassment. He ended up hanging up one me this time. I called our operater and told them not to transfer that number to me again that is was for the other person with my name. I looked up the number online and it gave me a the address in Garden Grove CA. I called the number when I got home to ask for a supervisor and I believe it's just him working there because he said that would be his law office and then he upset me again and my husband called him back and went off on him told him we would get a lawyer cause he is harrassing the wrong person. I just looked up and the number is unpublished now. So people pretty sure this is a scam, I just feel sorry for the girl cause he has her SSN and he verified it with me. I will be notifing my work tomorrow of this. don't fall for it people he is really scary and intimading though!!! had me in tears and I know I don't owe any money to anyone!!

These people have called me all day and hung up when i finally answered. When my boyfriend picked up, they yelled at him asking for me. The woman had a terrible country accent and refused to say what the call was about. She then said, "SHE CAN'T PICK UP THE PHONE LIKE A HUMAN BEING? I GUESS NOT SINCE SHE IS A MEXICAN" and hung up. I am very offended by this, as i am Mexican and i would like all available numbers to curse these people out. I especially want to as I have NO OUTSTANDING DEBT WITH THEM.

They just started calling me again today after 6 months. At home and work. Now they have moved from Anaheim to Pomona, and changed their name from Noble Recovery to Eagle Recovery Services. But its still the same guy, Mr. Rinehart. Do they think we have such a short memory? They are complete idiots.

I was also contacted by Eagle Recovery Services about a month ago - sent them a payment via certied mail, return receipt - have not gotten the receipt back (I'm not sure if I should send anymore payments - they'll probably say they never received them) - it's been a month - last night a received a call from a Hal Jordan from Noble Recovery Services (gave me Money Gram info to send a payment and that's after telling me what a jerk I am and that I'm a criminal) - inside of two hours a $510.00 became $1,200.00 and had to be paid by midnight) - it's interesting that they made be the same outfit - I'm filing complaints against them both.

Hal Jordan from Noble Recovery Systems has been calling me and my relatives regarding a payday loan from Cash Central that I defaulted on because they were unable to draft the repayment amount from my bank account calling them fraudulent bounced checks and they will take legal action against my crime. If I didn't send them a money gram and call him within 1 hour with the confirmation number, he would take legal action. How do these people find all of my past addresses and numbers of relatives? Are these people legal? Can they really take legal action? How do I get them to stop calling? I contactd Cash Central and they told me that my account was purchased by MLA. So what does NRS have to do with this? Help! He scared the crap out of me.

Legally, they can only recover the money that you borrowed. No extra fees or anything in that nature. The tactics they are using to recover the money is illegal. When they contact you, tell them before you start talking, you will be recording this conversation. Most new cell phones have this feature. They can not threaten your job or contact any person as a referrence to collect the money. If this information is disclosed, you have a right to counter sue them for this. Make sure that they know this information. They are a legitimate collection agency for payday loans and can and will take you to court for not paying the fees. Regardless if you do not pay them or not, you did borrow money from a payday loan, which payday loans are illegal in most states because of the unethical interest they charge, but because most of these companies are online and have their main office in another country, they are able to find that loop hole. My suggestion is to find out the amount you borrowed and agreed to pay back the loan company. Tell NRS you will make payments to them per month and pay off what you borrowed. Because think about it, legally, you have stolen "X" amount of money if you do not pay that back so legally, you are obligated to pay what you agreed to pay, no more.
