Has anyone ever had any experiences with RJM Acquisitions LLC NY? I received a letter in the mail from this company about three weeks ago about a fingerhut account that I had 5 years ago (or more).

I have been dealing with them and they are fine. My debt is now paid off. :)

Fuss722, did they DELETE the record? I only want to pay the $56 I owe if they will DELETE it from my credit report, not just mark it "paid collection," which I understand is not worth much.

Guess what...I called them and asked if they would DELETE the item if I paid it in full. And believe it or not...they agreed to it, and sent me a letter confirming that when the payment is received, they will DELETE it entirely. There's even a checkbox on the return portion that says "Please delete this from my credit file."

It sounds like they are at least willing to work with you if you contact them...but the proof will be in the pudding.

I'll keep you posted after I send the payment and watch to see if it really does come off!

Junk debt purchaser. Buys accounts past statute of limitations for legal collections. They generally can't force you to pay or sue you or report to credit agencys. Can only generaly make you pay if you agree to credit card, make payment etc, which restarts statute of limitations. You screwed yourself.

I recieved a letter from RJM Acquisitions the other day. This was from a debt about 4 years ago that had been closed by another creditor.

Any suggestions? I cannot pay this and refuse to under my personal circumstances...

sincerely,
Branden

Most States have a 7 year statute of limitations on Old Debts. After 7 years, companies can no longer collect. NY is 6 years. If they are trying to collect an old debt you simply need to send them a letter saying that it is no longer valid, it is past the point of collection and to never contact you again. You have rights and just because they send a letter and back-it up with valid debt data doesn't mean you have to pay it.

Well I found RJM on my credit for $154. I have no other info at all on there. Are they a legit company??? I am reading all sorts of things about this company and that they sometimes even steal the info from a credit report. Not sure how true that is or not, but I would definately like to know more.

I am trying to clean up my credit and I don't want to pay the wrong person.

The next step was to just find out who the original creditor was and send the payment directly to them. I know it may take awhile before they get it, but it should definately get into the right hands, right???

Thanks
Tiffany

I just recieved a letter yesterday from RJM Acquisitions Funding LLC stating I owed them or bought this debt from Fingerhut. I have NEVER ordered anything from fingerhut so this is bogus. They better expect to recieve a nasty phone call from me bout 8am ET. I work 3rd and have been researching all night and have found that RJM has dont this to MANY people. I will get this resolved if its the last thing I do. For me to work so hard for my credit and for them to destroy it. I wont let it happen. They wont ever recieve a single dime from me after seeing what they have done to soo many people. Just wanted to voice my opinion on this.

Just found an entry on my credit report by Equifax. Looked up rjm acquisitions on Google and got a phone number in New York. Spoke to the rep, who explained the debt was purchased from the Literary Guild in 2000. He provided the LG account number, and I called them. Apparently, I ordered 2 books from a promotion online. I do not recall that, but! It WAS six years ago. Maybe I did? So! Six years later, it is on my report--and the only negative thing on my report. In my case, it was for only 40 bucks, and I paid it to clear the debt as we are buying a home. Before nailing RJM to the wall, do your homework, as the debt might be yours--something purchased, forgotten, and now back to haunt you. RJM was really cooperative--they provided the creditors' account number, and also are sending me a paid in full receipt. Additionally, they are removing it from my credit report.

I am going through the same thing. We are buying a house so I have been keeping track of my credit. Now suddenly something popped up from this RJM but there is no phone number. This was for Literary Guild which I already paid off! I disputed it online on my TransUnion and my Experian (for some reason it wasn't on the Equifax Report). The Experian just sent me an alert & they did NOT delete this account, even though I already paid it to the Literary Guild last month! Does anyone know the phone number, fax number, or email for RJM? I can provide proof of payment so that they delete this. Thanks!

They sent me a collection notice on a 10yr old credit card debt from Household Finance, that my records show paid off. When I requested proof I owed the money, they hung up the phone. Very suspicious

I found something on my credit report that I didn't think should be there. RJM was the account holder, but the company making the charge was unknown to me. I called RJM and explained that the charge was unknown to me and they said they would remove the report. The entire call to them only took about 5 minutes. I was very pleased with them.

So, Like everyone else here I was looking at my credit report b/c I am trying to buy a house. This charge for Spirit One Books came up and is messing up my credit I've worked so hard to repair. Has anyone found a number for this company to dispute these bogus charges?

Hello,

I also had the computer bookclub charge show up on only my Experian credit report. I contacted them at 516-714-1350. The rest fo theri address is 575 Underhill Blvd suite 224 Syosset NY 11791
They did not even have the correrct address for where I supposedly lived at the time. My bill was 32.00 and they said they would close it and removed it from my credit report in about 45 days. I will definitly be checking to be sure they actually removed it.
Good luck to anyone else dealing with this

in 1976, my mother used my ss# and same initials to gain credit as hers was in the toilet. i was born in 1965. i have tried numerous times to have her 1976 credit accts removed, but since the initials are the same and it has lingered for so many decades, the companies are having a difficult time believing me. she has maintained good credit but the d.i.r. has now jeopardized my rating. i do not talk to her due to issues such as this one - there are others! so, what can i do?

rjm acquisitions has appeared on my experian acct. i have rec'd offeres in the mail for fingerhut, which upon reading previous emails above, appears to be a connection, but i do not do business with mail orders precisely for these kinds of reasons. so, i wonder why they are my report? the address is the same as others: 575 underhill blvd, suite 2, syosset, ny 11791 800-541-0824 any advise? i don't want to call them only to be caller id'd and then initiate numerous calls in return.

I just applied for a credit card, I had a credit line that held a rating 800+, but not no more. This unknown to me company put on my credit report that I owe them 200 for Venus Book Club, I never heard of this club.I red flagged this w/Experian Credit Union and 24hrs later they said it remains on my credit report. This is so wrong. I owe them nothing!

I just received a letter from RJM, too. They say they took over Fingerhut's account. I have not bought anything from them in YEAR's and paid them off. RJM is not on my credit report, because I just checked it. I am going to call Fingerhut directly and get down to the bottom of this. I see alot of bad things on the internet about this company.

PLEASE! DO NOT ACCEPT ANY GIFTS OR CREDIT CARD OFFERS,OR ANYTHING FROM "ANY" collection agency! These agencies specialize in buying old debts, or debts that are past the statue of limitations! Before you do anything, PLEASE check the Statue Of Limitation or SOL, which is the time period that a creditor, or collection agency is given by the government to be abled to "legally" collect on a debt by way of suing, garnishment, etc!, for your particular state as each state differs! These folks are trying to get you to either pay money, or agree, in writing, to pay money so that if it's an old debt, say 6 years or longer since it's gone into default, then they offer to "HELP" you repair your credit by offering you a credit card, a gift, in order to bait you into making any type of payment, even a penny, or agreeing in writing to a payment plan, then, they can "re-age", or renew the debt, thus making the debt current, within the statute of limitation, and thus legally collectible! NEVER admit to the debt!, DO NOT CALL THEM ON THE PHONE!!!, this is due to the fact that if they can get to talk to you, they are good as laying guilt trips on you, scaring you, making false promises to you, or manipulating your current emotional state to their benefit! All you must do is write them a letter disputing the charge within 30 days of receipt! Make them provide you with all validating information about the charge,, and if desired, request that they not contact you again unless they are providing information concerning further action on their behalf!

They say they will remove it, only to have the debt show up again some years down the road. Please do your homework when it comes to debt collectors and required them to do what is required of them under the law. Also paying off an old debt does not guarantee that another company won't try to collect from you later. Been there, done that

You are definitely correct BDW as they love doing that! Let's say they say that the face value of the debt that they've bought is for $2000! What they will do is try to get you to settle with "them" for $700 or so lump sum, or, get you to agree, in writing, to a payment plan, thus having you think that they are such "swell people" by giving you such a break that it would be a sin to not go for such a bargain!LOL! They get the $700 from you, thus re-aging the debt if it was out of statue of limitations, having you think that it's now "SETTLED" and will be taken off of your credit, hey, they promised right?LOL, legally, it can stay on your report for 7 more years now that it's seen as a "current" debt by them re-aging it report wise, then, they go and sell the debt to another agency, whereby they are "NOT" legally obligated to tell you that they have sold your supposed debt to another agency, and they "LEGALLY" come after you for the $1300 that's still left on the debt! These agencies talk to each other, and often are sponsored by each other! If they can get someone to pay, that person then becomes one of their "PIGEONS", or, an easy mark for lots of agencies to continually buy, and sell the debt, keep comming after you over and over again for as long as they want!, especially if the statute hasn't run out yet! I have known them to try to collect on debts that were almost 40 years old! You have to know your rights!, so, you will be abled to legally give these bums a left hook, and an uppercut!LOL!

I just received my chapter 7 discharge on March 12, 2007. In a notice dated March 30, 2007 RJM acquisitions informed me they are my new creitor. It's a $110 bill from Fingerhut and shows the last payment received was January 31, 1996.
I've never ordered a thing from Fingerhut. I also saw on my report that was included in my bankruptcy tha RJM had 2 book clubs listed as in collections.

#1 The debt is over 11 years old.
#2 I filed bankruptcy and am protected from creditors coming out of the woodwork with old debt like this.
#3 It's ELEVEN years old!
