Special Announcement: Ellis Crosby and Associates are not following fdcpa so if you are getting phone calls from their agents, please handle with care. Signup for free counseling and handle all problems associated with Ellis Crosby and Associates smoothly.

I had gotten some payday loans, and i was unable to repay them as quickly as the loan companys would like. The intrest rate is 600% or more!
Ellis and Crosby says they are lawyers ( when they are just a collection agency) and they have been threatning to pick me up within an hour, if i cant pay right away. ELLIS and Crosby thinks i am a HABITUAL offender because the loan comapnys are screwing me. But what they dont realize is that these loan companys are charging extra if you dont pay ontime. My orginal amount was $200, Ellis and Crosby racked it up to $560, just so they could file a suit aginst me. Its like they are doing it on purpose. GOOD THING I WORK FOR A LAWYER, and i have been informed.
THERE IS NO DEBT COLLECTION PRISON!
Ellis and Crosby has threatned to make me loose my job, and talk to my boss about it. In texas they cannot garnish wages without a court order. And they have totally violated a law.

hey call...tell me whats on your mind..its my cell number...tell me what i can do to help you!

Anyone can make a post on the forums under a guest account and pretend to be someone else. I would suggest ("Ted Crosby") that if you want to be taken seriously on this forum you (1) create an account on this forum and use it consistantly (2) Please use non-caps as caps is considered "agressive" in internet conversations (3) Provide full contact information for yourself, professionally, and let someone verify that you are who you are -- but be sure to post this information AFTER you've created an account here. Otherwise I will suggest to the users here that they ignore you for the sole reason of you are a guest account and could be spoofing someone's identity.

Good game, LOSER! You're the one making a fool out of yourself. Vikas, please ban this "guest"'s IP address.

Oh, btw, the average user on this forum has more common sense, respect, and general ethic than ECA. So if you truely are affiliated with them, tuck your head between your legs and humbly walk away before we make you look more stupid.

OH, lol ...

I forgot to add that you must be the wise one, I suppose? Isn't Ellis Crosby & Associates the ones that had the Attorney General investigating them? Aren't they also the ones that were found to be violating FTC laws and had their ACA license revoked? Apparently (for such a "legal guru" as yourself) you're not so intelligent. Ha.

The guy is either apparently an imposter or a complete moron. The real guy wouldn't dare post something like that (or would he?? lol). It's probably just some moron trying to get attention -- or even more likely, one of the many people on ths forum that have been known to bash the people in debt for "not paying what they should".

I do believe it's an imposter. Ted Crosby is in hiding. He has taken his voice off of his voice mail, and doesn't want anyone knowing who he is. He's probably even working from home now to avoid the media, and any "investigators" siting out front of his building.

Has anyone tried that new google earth feature yet. I know there are a few investigators at Ellis, er, wait...I mean collectors who have used this. Someone made a post about how one of them asked what building she was in....so apparently the knew her work had numerous buildings.

I personally think this should be on CourtTV so his neighbors know about his activity!

He's probably hiding in a bomb shelter, if he's knows what's good for him. And I'm certain that REAL investigators are looking for him, or investigating him... :D

What is this google feature you speak of? Sounds like it could be detrimental...

He should be on Cops  I want to see a high speed chase will Ted Crosby and whoever Ellis is. 8)

I hope I did this rigth...

if the link doesn't appear it's earth.google.com

You have to download the software, but once when you get it installed (it's free) you can type in an address and zoom way in. It's still far enough above earth for privacy, but you can see cars in driveways and whathaveyou.

Pretty neat. You can even see other things like the Grand Canyon, etc, Las Vegas, even your own home, or your work building.
yeah but its not up to date
Katie, are you referring to the google earth website?

If so, I know it's not up to date, but some of the collectors from ECA used this website to scare people into thinking they were outside...because when someone says..."which building is yours?"

you'd think, how'd they know there are multiple buildings out front...

Mikey, it was me that said they asked me to verify what building I was in so and "officer could come by and process me". I learned later that EC probably googled my office address or looked up the property on our website. It's a deceptive tactic to intimidate someone into believing they or an "officer" is right outside your doorstep. It worked on me, I was so scared that I wouldnt go back to my desk for an hour. Once I got my head straight, I called my local authorities who assured me there was no warrant for my arrest. I was still bothered the rest of the day.
HEY JUST BOUGHT A NEW ROLEX!!!THANKS GUYS!!!
You just keep sinking yourself deeper and deeper. A debt collector cannot afford a Rolex. It's weird how you collect on some of us, and don't post the payment. Then you sell the account again...

The information you are providing to us could be used against you. Don't you think Summer would like to hear about how he just bought a Rolex. Maybe his bank statements should be subponead now.

Not only that the monies you do collect are awfully high...in what you call legal fees.

Now, wouldn't you rather have a house, than an apartment? Maybe you should stop buying watches you don't need. I mean who do you need to impress?

Yes, regardless of whether it is actually him or not does not matter. I highly doubt that an intelligent employee of this organization would go out of their way to visit this forum and cause problems (and try to pretend they're anonymous when I really know who they are).

Right now I am only moderating one forum (and not this one) - so I cannot look at the IP address of the guy above. But Vikas can. :-) And he's been very helpful now that he knows I'm what I preached I was.

If the guy that pretends to be associated with ECA (or is one of their staff, etc) is proven (by IP address and investigation) to be as arogant as he has with some of the things he's said - you can count on the fact that any assets he has -- including his fancy watch and vehicle he brags about -- will be sold by auctions when he is forced to pay a $1000 per harassed client fee. Then the tables will be turned. He'll be working at Burger King flipping burgers ... and we'll have $1000 to settle our original debts and buy ourselves something nice.

They're just getting all steamed up down there in Florida because they thought they were untouchable and have found out the hard way that being a con-artist will land you no where - if not in jail.

From what I've personally seen (especially on this forum), they sound like 18 year old jobless kids looking for attention. Let them make their ignorant posts. I dare them to make one in "my" [moderated] forum. :-)

Whether it is Ted Crosby or not, all they are doing is making a fool of themselves and trying to rustle our feathers. Best thing to do is ignore them and let the moderator handle him if he gets out of line.

Moderator, could you check on this person and confirm where they are posting from?

Jackie-

Please do not pay a dime to this company. Even if the debt is valid, they may not post it to your account.

Please also file a complaint with the BBB @ bbb.org

There you can register a complaint to show that you are not satisfied with the company.

Ted Ellis Crosby and Associates are currently under criminal investigation for unethical pratices and high interest collecting.

Please read also the court papers he was served with

myfloridalegal.com/webfiles.nsf/WF/JFAO-6FKGTU/$file/Ellis_Crosby_Complaint.pdf

(just copy and paste the address)

You'll need Adobe reader to view this. Also at the bottom of the court papers you'll find the name of Summer who works for the State of Flordia. If you call her as well you might be entitled to a settlement that is due to the consumers Crosby has harassed.

I believe he could be facing fines up to $10,000 per violation and $15,000 for seniors. The settlement payout could be $1,000 per person.

But please, do not worry. There are no police coming to get you. You and your son will be fine!!!!

Have a good weekend :)
Mikey

Are people just cut and pasting previous Ellis Crosby complaints? They all sound the same to me.

If you guys want me to have moderator for this forum, send Vikas a private message endoring the request. I've told him I'd like to be a full mod when I first came on board but he only gave me the power to effectively moderate the debt consolidation forum (which is where I busted the Ellis Crosby & Associates poster).

I can't moderate this forum right now, but if I could, I would be able to work some magic. :D

i was contacted again today by them reguarding my spouses loan that i was in a payment plan with but the violated 3 fdcpa regulations and would not validate the debt in writing or to who it was for in the beginning, last payment that i sent to them was in June 2005 and when i said that they had violated my rights and that i was to seek out legal advise from the JAG attorneys the calls stopped and they would not return my calls then i get a call today and they violated the privacy acts by informing a co-worker about the warrant that they were going to issue. i called them back and now i cannot get them to return the call.... interesting thing was a law suit was filed in FL thru the attorney generals office for this very same reason... they are going by the name of Prelitigations of America at this time.... law suit that was filed against them in August 2005

Hi guest,

collection agencies are not supposed to disclose your personal information to your relatives, or your co-workers. They can contact them only to verify your address or they can contact your employer to confirm your service.

As you find them violating rules repeatedly, why don't you file a complaint with BBB, FTC or DA's Office? If we don't report against them, how could the authority come to know about their unfair means of collecting debts?

I received a loan from FSM back in August. I have fallen on hard time since then and I was not able to make them a payment and my checking account is now closed. I received a call from Ellis Crosby and Associates telling me that I needed to pay 562.00 by 6pm that day and it was already 4:30. The representative from Ellis Crosby stated warrants would be issued against me for Fraud and Theft and I needed to have my attorney contact them if I don't pay today and maybe they could stop the warrants. She also asked me if I was ever convicted of a crime or been on probation or currently on probation. My question is, can they do this?

Janice-

Ted Ellis Crosby & Associates are currently under invesitgation for unethical practices. Their collection process is illegal, and as far as I know...they are on their way to being shut down. If you make a payment on your debt, chances are it won't be taken off your credit report.

I would suggest you wait till this account gets sold to another collection agency. This will better your chances at getting to pay this off.

Rest assure, there is not debt jail. It is not illegal to be in debt. Crosby has threatened many, and scared them into think they would go to jail if they didn't pay by a certain time.

Regards-
Mike

Janice,
If you pay them you will end up in the same boat I am. I did pay my debt...not what they were asking for but what was on my contract. Since then i have had another collection agency calling me and i have tried and tried to explain that i did pay what was owed. However i guess that EC "Doctored" my loan papers because the new collection agency says that i received a loan for 455.00 which i only received 250.00. We are trying to work it out now. I did contact an attorney and did file my own lawsuit against them. I really dont care about the money but i am a young man and what they did to me really scared me. I just dont want what happened to me happen to someone else.

I got a call from a woman by Shannon Williams 816-221-7183 requesting that I have my attorney call or me about a payday loan issue. I did borrow money but because of the high interest loans was unable to pay it. Now I am getting harassed by her and telling me if I do not pay back I could go to jail. She is calling my office and home, and saying that the law in NY states that check fraud is a felony. I do not know what to do now. I did call my state attorney general office to put in a complaint. I am really scared.

They can do nothing. This is a consumer affair you can not go to jail for a debt. I was in your same place. I was scared and lost sleep for the simple reason of threats. That is all they are doing...scaring you. That is how they are.

Shirl,

According to Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, collection agencies cannot threat you of an arrest, nor can they call you at work if you don't allow them to do so. Thus this is a violation of rules and it was an expert move from your side to file a complaint against them.

As far as the debt is concerned, try to pay it off. I understand how much difficult it is when the interest rate is so high. But an unpaid account can damage your credit badly. You can negotiate with the lender and see if it is possible to settle with a lower amount.

I had the same thing happen to me today. I was scared stiff and ready to go to money gram and send them the money. I am so glas I came across this site because they would have gotten my money. I borrowed $200 and they told me that I had to pay back $567.50. When I asked him why it was so much he got really nasty with me. I spoke to someone by the name of Lester. He told me that they were going to come to my job and arrested me for fraud. He also said that thet were going to confiscate my computer and I would lose my job. I was scared as hell. Thank you guys for posting this helpful information. I called the Attorney General in Florida and also another compaby that is filing suits against them. If you have been a victim and you wish to take further action you can call 1866-966-7226 or go to myfloridalegal.com.
