how do i get my phone number removed from west asset management system. for three years now they call me off and on about someone that i don't even know. and each and every time they say that they will remove my phone number, but they still call, i complain, then they call again and on and on and on...

Send West Asset Management collection agency a letter via certified mail requesting them to stop. ALso send a complaint to the FCC and/or FTC. The FCC has a web based complaint form for you to print out and send along with a copy of the letter you sent to the collection agency. Once you have completed these 2 steps you will never hear from them again.

800-270-1022 is the number West Asset Management collection agency gave me to call them. does anyone have a way of collapsing their phone system or to give them a cpu flu? after all the headaches i've had from them it would seem only fair!

West Asset Management called me a couple of weeks ago wanting a payment for an old cell phone bill. I told them I was working with the original creditor b/c they said they would accept my payments. Well, this guy was still demanding that I set up a post dated payment and that I need to pay them and not the original creditor. Needless to say, they did not get that post dated payment. I need to find out if the original creditor pulled my account back b/c West hasn't contacted me for about two weeks now.

Thanks for your response.

I'm nervous because I don't want to have to change my phone number constantly and I want to be able to use my own phone. I want these calls stopped. They phone number they are calling now is a cell #.

They ignored or think they have figured out how to get around 'cease and desist' even to an Attn. General.

I need an attorney in Arizona.

Perhaps you need to find out if your name or SSN is attached to these accounts...The SSN could be on the account by accident...also if you worked for these companies but, not the owner, perhaps someone at the company used your SSN without your permission...

Bottom Line..."CHECK YOUR CREDIT"

I've been getting calls from West Asset Management company (debt collectors) for about 2 weeks. They are calling my direct business line. My number is unpublished and shows up as blocked or unavailable when I call out. They are either random calling or the only place they could have gotten my direct number is from my website, as I only give this number out as a contact to clients. My bills, both personal and business, are all current, no credit card balances and my only debt is a mortgage anyway. So, I checked my credit report to see if someone has stolen my identity and there isn't anything unusual. This has got to be a scam!

Do not give them any information. If they are true debt collectors they will already have your information. This is a fishing scam to steal your information!

West Asset Management
2253 Northwest Parkway
Atlanta, GA 30067

I am legally disabled and on SSI. (I became disabled years after my student loan.) These guys promised to get my loan dismissed, but instead sent me a promissary note and "debt consolidation application". I can't afford much more than my rent right now, so I didn't sign this or verbally agree to anything. I'm not agreeing to repay this loan. By law, I am eligible to have my loan dismissed.....but I haven't had any luck doing so.

Needless to say, last year they seized my entire income tax refund! Food right out of my children's mouths. :(

You really need to post this on the 'Dealing with Student Loans' forum!

On getting your SL retired due to disability, you need to work with the SL lender or the Dept. of Education directly. A CA [any CA, but especially people like these!] has no interest in helping you do that, and nothing but a potential loss of revenue to look forward to if they do help you.

Once you get any contact from this company tell them to cease and desist. Then send them a certified letter. They tend to lose faxes and uncertified mail.

Yea, my sister has been dealing with these jerks for over two years about an old medical debt she has already disputed with the OC. They call day AFTER day, won't send DV, etc.

Welcome to the community Guy Josey.
One thing I would suggest is sending them a written request to the above address to not contact you, send the request certified mail, return receipt requested. By federal law they must comply or they can face civil damages of up to $1,000 per call in violation.

All of the sudden, my parents are starting to get calls, all asking for me.

Funny thing is, I have not lived at that address for 4 years now.

Then to be getting calls, just out of the blue?

Very strange, indeed.

I was scammed before, by another company, stating I owed $100 for an internet service I have never even ordred (once again, delivered to my parent's house last year).

I simply wrote a very calm, professional letter of dispute asking to be advised on what the charge was for, when the order was placed, and with whom before I would settle.

Never heard another word back.

If it is a medical debt, call: 1-877-411-7197
If the debt is legit, ask for a settlment, you can get a discount if you pay a lump sum. And YES, postdated checks are legal.

West is a miserable, sleazy company in a sleazy business, but we hold Qwest responsible for hiring them. Someone stole my wife's SSN, set up an account in another city, and ran up about $1k in bills. West found our real home number and started harrassing us 6 weeks ago. We're finally getting some results by threatening Qwest with a small-claims lawsuit. It's not an idle threat. If we get one more call, we will take them to court. Hard to imagine that this won't cost them more than they could hope to recover through West. Qwest has been irresponsible and incompetent every step of the way.
Hold the really responsible party accountable.

I just had the same problem with another one of these collection agencies. I got my # thru Verizon in 03/2008. I immediately started getting these calls for someone that I don't know. I told them this and they said they wouuld not call anymore. This happened for 7 months, sometimes 3-4 times a week. In 09/08 I called and was hung up 3X. I called Verizon and spoke with a Dept called the illegal call department. they put me on hold and called these bottom feeders and spoke with them....I don't know what they said but I haven't heard from the leaches in a few weeks.....

I've been getting calls from them for a while now, looking for someone with a different First name but same last name. Not sure if they just picked my number out of the phone book or if someone used my number when giving details for a loan.

Anyway, I've asked them several times not to call to no avail. Really dont want to go down the legal route so I found an alternative. My phone provider (Lingo) includes advanced call routing. I can specify which callers are re-directed to another number I specify. So I put their number on the list and redirect it to another one of their callback numbers. Now they can waste their time talking to each other. :D

Their computer kept calling me for someone I don't know. When I pressed 3, "That person is unavailable," the computer gave me this callback number: 800-929-4093. I called it and demanded that they stop calling me. They said they'd remove my number. We'll see.

AT&T and other companies sell them rotary phone service. They tell me they cannot block! $$$$$$$ So much for all their privacy and blocking stuff they charge you for with their "Complete Coverage Pkg"!
I pick it up and drop it or let it ring five times and when my recroder picks up they cancel call in a hurry. But caller ID gives me their number(s) They keep changing and you cant win with their computer dialing and putting you on hold! Computers dont understand snail mail requests!
