how do i get my phone number removed from west asset management system. for three years now they call me off and on about someone that i don't even know. and each and every time they say that they will remove my phone number, but they still call, i complain, then they call again and on and on and on...

This collection company like many others fails to do a simple check of who they are actually calling. Over the last several years I have received many hundreds of calls for others' debts not my own. Their people locating software must be really lame. It seems to search for all phone numbers associated with the address of a debtor. This provides a lot of false hits on apartments like mine. My name/number starts with an "A" and must sort to the top of the list. lame

Well, I can top it all by telling you that my x-husband got a call from them today, saying my brother had died, and they wanted to know who was taking care of his estate??? Talk about a bad 15 minutes, before I could find out that my brother is alive and well. Who ever this West Ass ~ I mean Asset Management is, they need to stop, before they hurt someone.

They called saying my daughter owed them money....she is barely 15! I tried calling them & they wanted my name & when I refused they said they could not discuss anything with me until I gave them my first name...sounds pretty fishy, then they will just start saying that I owe them money....I don't even know how they got my phone number...it's unlisted & unpublished.

They usually call neighbors, relatives and friends to look for you. Also while your number may be unlisted/unpublished, when you open a credit card and such, if you put your phone number on your application, it in turn goes on your credit report.

As far as the debt goes they talked to you on the phone so now they have 5 days to send something in writing. When you get that, you have 30 days to dispute the debt. You can send a debt validation letter, you could also send a cease and desist letter telling them she is only 15 and to not call or send anything in writing ever again.

It is your choice, maby someone has more insight on this.

These guys are SO-ANNOYING! Persistent to say the absolute least. They have been calling for my number for years, at least 4 or 5 times a day. I work from home, at my computer, so I decided to just answer this call from my seat at my computer, as a fax! I know that there isn't a human being on the other end but I just laugh when I think about that computer trying to figure out what to do to that fax sound! Let the games continue West Asset Management!

This company keeps calling me every other day or so about a collection they said they took over from another collection agency (which I've heard is causing the WA State Department of Health and Social Services problems), which I've never received any calls or mail from. They are trying to collect a bill covered by WA DSHS from October of 2007!!!! I never heard a thing about this in 2008 but this company started calling me the first of the year! DSHS said they would pay the bill but the original provider billed them wrong and until they bill appropriately, they won't get a dime. I was told this was not my problem but I needed to get certain facts from West Asset to provide DSHS. They would not give me the needed information and the people were just smart-asses and uncooperative. It does no good to call them, I can't even get a supervisor. They have been told what the problem is but won't give me the provider's information so DSHS can handle this or I can contact them directly. I finally called our local Attorney General's office and they told me to submit a formal letter (certified mail) detailing what needs to be done and to leave me alone. I'm to include that I've ccd the office and DSHS in Olympia. But at the end of the day, no business is required to obey the Attorney General's office. I swear, we all should be able to sue these companies for all the time, stress and financial crap they are putting innocent people through!!!!!!

I am concerned about a call and now letter I have received from them. They are stating that I owe Qwest for an "extremly past due" account in the amount of $216.69. We just received our final bill from Qwest after cancelling it at the end of February. From Qwest we received bills on Monday 3/2 one stating this balance, and the other stating a $90 credit on the account. When I called the number on their debt collection letter, the person said my name before I could even say anything. This is really disturbing me, and is making me think that it is linked to a possible identy theft and our poor business practices. my wife is in contact with Qwest to try and find out what is going on, and I have drafted a validation of debt letter to send them because I do not believe this is legal and valid. Any thoughts?

I first received a phone call from west asset management saying they were trying to locate a neighbor of mine and were concerned about her. I did not give them any info and told the neighbor. The neighbor has a listed phone # and listed work phone #. West asset management is now leaving messages on my phone for the neighbor. THIS IS JUST STUPID........I will complain

If you never got anything in writing from them, don't worry about it. Next time they call tell them they call, tell them they already violated the law by not sending something in writing and if they want to keep racking up violations, tell them they better have their records in order.

Get their mailing address if you already don't have it and send them a debt validation letter, certified mail return receipt requested. Ask for basic information such as full account history, original signed contract, the right for them to collect and so on. there is a sample letter to use in the do it yourself section at the top of this site.

I received a call from West Asset Management out of the blue one day about a debt that is valid, but was being paid through another program. They stated that they received my debt only days before and began their procedures to collect. I told them this debt was settled and payments were underway with another program. They did not like this and was extremely rude and unprofessional with my situation. They stated I was to pay them and them only to resolve this debt. Well, since the debt was already settled with one collection agency and being paid toward with another program, how and why should I pay them!!!! I'm not obligated to pay back the debt twice! They were completely unwilling to except the fact that this was already resolved and they would pull my credit report to find out the truth. I haven't answered their calls since, but they still steadily call. My other program in which is handling my debt told me I did not have to talk to them and that my credit report will show that this debt was settled. So my advice to everyone is not to speak to this agency no matter what they tell you. Investigate the debt before giving any of your information to West Asset Management.

I did customer service for qwest through wam. And I know that with qwest when they mail out your final bill they will send it to collections at west within days even if the customer has a credit owed to them. And the reason the rep said your name is due to the fact when you called in from your home number which they got from qwest it pulled up an acct in there office. If they call back tell them you need the qwest disput number. The rep should have gave it to you when you called in but only if you verified the personal info which when I worked there was current mailing address or last 4 of ssn. and I can tell you the reps only have the last 4 of the ssn. And they can send you a notice of debt don't let them lie and say they can't cause I know they can.

I'm so glad to find this site. This company calls 3 or 4 times a day and it's not for me! I have tried to talk with them and write them but nothing seems to help. I'll try one more time and then I'm going to the Attorney Generals office

I got a call from them this morning and it was automated putting me on hold. Then, it hung up on me. So, I dialed 1-800-270-1022. Everytime a female would pick up and introduce herself I would say her name followed with, "Hey (name), you're a bitch!" If I got a male representative it was the same thing only asshole instead of bitch, followed with an abrupt hanging up of my phone. No joke, this went on for about 20 minutes so enjoy a good laugh!

I am getting calls from West Asses Managment regarding Katherine Hyatt. She doesn't live here and I have explained this. I spoke with asses management employee. Who stated that Katherine gave this number a week ago Why she did that, I don't know. This woman doesn't live here and I appreciate if Asses would not disrespect my home by calling.

and if its a true wrong # they will take out # if its a medical collection at least they offer solution free of charge unlike all these agencys who charge to help pay these bills .call who you owe work with them not .they will help you find a way to pay too many are mislead and again medical bill should be first bill if you really owe especially when its copays or deductables

My spouse recently passed away and this company is calling my sister in law to find out who is handling his estate. Me and my husband (deceased) were current on all our bills and owe no past debt. I do not know how they got my sister in laws number because we never used them as a reference on any applications. I tried contacting the company but was put on hold for ever and kept getting the message your call is important to us please continue to hold. What type of company is this? Are they preying on grieving families in an attempt to get money not owed to them???
??

Two years ago they did this, day after day. calling for someone I have never heard of. Then they ask for my phone (cell) number. I won't give it to them. I called back yesterday and got some lady who answered "yo" and sounded like she was washing dishes. They called me, why should I give them my phone number?

West Asset Management 757-209-2013 call me everyday!! I no longer answer their calls and will never speak to them again. They are illegally trying to collect a debt that I am paying with another program. I have argued until I was blue in the face about this debt and they just will not leave me alone. I have contacted my program that now is handling my debt and they told me I didn't have to speak to W.A.M about this debt. However, the agent at W.A.M told me that I can only pay them to resolve this debt. They pulled my credit report and found a credit card that had available credit close to the amount I owe and made me a "great deal" and "saving" me close to five hundred if I would get out that card and pay them now. WHAT!!!!! I am paying this debt monthly with another program; so, using another credit card to pay off the same exact debt will Not save me any money! THAT IS PAYING THE SAME DEBT TWICE!!!!!!! For some crazy reason W.A.M has no comprehension of this collection of a debt twice is ILLEGAL! Note any and every telephone number they call you from, post the numbers by our phone marked DO NOT ANSWER! The addresses I have for this ignorant company are: PO Box 790113 St. Louis, Mo. 63179-0113 and 2703 N. Hwy 75 Sherman, Tx. 75091; plus, a FAX # 903-891-1375. Send them a request to stop letter whenever and as often as you can spare your time.

Why call the same person to get the same answer. That's not me. Next day call, no that's not me. Next day call, NO, THAT'S NOT ME!!! What am I suppose to do. How many times will I have to say the same thing. THAT'S NOT ME!!!!

This company has been calling my house about a person I knew 20 years ago! I haven't had contact with that person in a long time and have absolutely no information to give them. I'm glad I read your advice to send a certified letter. What's weird is that I've changed my name (marriage) since I knew that person. So, how did they get my new name & phone number? They refused to answer my questions. Btw, I am not related to the person they are trying to reach.

I use to work at west and its the policy that if you say to remove the number we will remove it but if we talked to the person there before well..... we might just think your lying, but a cease and desist letter is pointless if its just the wrong number!!! just say wrong number dont call my house again!! yea i hear it all the time so i remove the number[samebox:26fb5f2189="paulmergel"]if i had a dollar for everyone like you that came on here and lied out of there backside i could retire.first off we always say send the cease & desist certified mail return receipt.your stupidity is the reason.if you don't obey a C&D you can be sued.second if i also had a dollar for everytime someone told you that you have the wrong# and you don't remove it.again i could retire.anyaroberts i right.the humanoids are running wild.[/samebox:26fb5f2189]

Has anyone tried to register their number with the do not call registry...if so do they ignore the registry. I am so tired if them calling I finally put my number on the registry. It hasn't taken effect..or has it? I got 5 calls from them today. BTW..Yes I owe money, but due to a life/body altering accident I am no longer able to work. At first I spoke to them and said you tell social security to get a move on my case and I'll get a move on their payment...then I hang up.

Double check the Registry. If your number shows there, you can file a Complaint on the same website. They take that seriously and the fines for violators are high.

But as far as I can tell, it mainly covers telemarketers and not debt collectors.

It says that your number will show up on the Registry the very next day after you Register, but telemarketers have 31 days to remove it from their records.

I have been receiving call from "West Access Management" for about 4 months now. They are calling asking for the person who is handling the estate of _________. I was married to this person when I was 18 and we were divorces 5 yrs late when I was 22. I have had no contact with him since I was 22 yrs old. He did pass away approx 6 months ago according to the obits. I am NOW 54 yrs old. I looked the company up and see that it is some sort of collection I have 2 different phone #'s they are calling me from in case anyone is interested. 804-878-3317 and 866-597-4781. I dont know what to do at this point. I do not even want to call them. Perhaps I shoud try to recall the name of his sister and call them with her name? as she is more than likely the one handling his affairs?

Send them a Cease & Desist letter by Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested. Specify that you have had absolutely NO contact with the person they are inquiring about for over 32 years and they are never to contact you again or they will be in violation of the FDCPA and you will file complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and your State Attorney General.

This company has been calling my home for a year now looking for the person who formerly had my telephone number. I have repeatedly asked them to quit calling. Their main phone number from my caller ID is 757-209-2013. The 1-800-496-7613 is the 800 number they leave. I called today to ask them to quit calling and they hung up on me. I am on the National Do Not call list and I filed a complaint with them today. I am tired of being harrassed for someones debt as I just got this telephone number on 3/1/08.
