Now awhile ago I posted a topic about a call I received from pre-litigations from 866-900-7694. Now today I get a call from a different lady form the same number 866-900-7694 and now she is telling me it's Bass & Associates. Seriously what is wrong with these people.
One day I get a call from a woman telling me to reach her at two 904 numbers. She then tells me she is from prelitigations/interstate wire compliance. Then the next day she calls and leaves the 866-900-7694 number to call her back on. Then today they are Bass & Associates with the same number. They proceeded to tell me i committed fraud and the papers are in the process of downloading and I will be picked up on site. She asked me if I had ever been picked up on site before. Not to mention I heard a few chuckles in the background. She told me they were going to be faxing papers over to my employers. The best part is she even gave me a case number.

Yeah, it almost floored me when he said that...but it also clued me into how they are not a good standing company. Initially they come across as frightening but willing to help...then when I asked if I could pay half was when he became a complete d*ck. Its funny though..I work in a family business and he called at work and spoke with my father and my father pretty much told him to f' off when he said he would be dragging our companies name into the ground. I sent out my debt validation letter thanks to you guys and also notified the FL AG and Arizonas AG. Its really amazing.
He said he was going to call back the next day though we haven't heard from them since.

This company isn't located in AZ, there is a legitimate business in AZ that goes by the same name, so the complaint filed with AZ's AG office is going to go after a legitimate company that isn't bothering you. The Bass and Associates in AZ is in no way connected to the collectors operating in FL.

No...I made sure that I was targeting Bass and Associates in Jacksonville. I was well aware that there was a legitimate company out here in Tucson. I was clearly notifying Arizona of the company in Florida. Still no word from Bass again...

These people from Bass and Associates called my job today saying that I was guilty of internet fraud and check kiting for a loan that I had with Arrowhead Investments and that I was going to jail. I either had to pay up front on the phone via credit card of moneygram. Julie kept saying that the company didn't want to help me out but she was doing it out of the kindness of her heart! Yeah right!!!! I found a number for Arrowhead on this site and called them. They said that I needed to call Icollect. Called them and recording said to call the collection agency that was handling my account. I also contacted the Dept of Financial Institutions for my state and found out that they aren't regulated in the state of Indiana to do payday loan and that if they take me to court they would only get $260 max for what I owe them. Believe me when I say that I have paid 2x that much. Once I called back and spoke with Julie, she became down right hateful!!! She said that she iddn't care one way or the other if I paid the loan and she hoped that I didn't so that I would get in trouble. I explained to her just exactly how much I paid and what the amount should be if owed anything at all. $290 for a $200 loan. That includes the $30 NSF fee they charged me after I closed the account. I was hit with $76 worth of NSF from my bank too because they kept running the ACH. I have paid them $420. I asked them for a debt validation letter and Julie said that they would fax me one! I then asked her to give me the total amount that I had paid them up until now...she said that she didn't have access to that information and that I would need to contact my bank. I told her that if she got the loan from Arrowhead then she should have all the other paperwork as well. She then said that she represents US National Bank and they didn't give her that information!!! They still have the nerve to say that I owe them $541.50. I was going to pay it, but then I remembered this site. Thank goodness for you people. My cousin who happens to be an attorney contacted them and they kept saying they wanted her bar number. She told them that she wasn't giving them anything until I received a debt validation letter. They kept hanging up on her. They said that they weren't even allowed to talk to attorney's. Why would they ask for one then???!!! Then they said that they didn't believe that she was an attorney!!! She asked them why was I told that I was going to be arrested and he told her "Don't call up here with that crap because no one said anything about her being arrested." She asked him if the phone calls were recorded and he replied yes. She asked him to go back and listen to the call, he told her to go and get a subpoena! She asked if she needed a subpoena for him to go back and listen to the call, he wouldn't answer her. He just kept overtalking her just like the reps before him. She told them not to contact me at work anymore and that they were really violating fdcpa regulations. Mr. Jacobs kept saying telling her not to quote laws to him that she knows nothing about. So to Jessica Whitt, Julie Flynn, Julia Garrison, Betsy Smith, and Mr. Jacobs...I'd hate to be you guys right now!!!! This is the money gram info they gave me....receive code:5119...company code:Bass...City: Jacksonville/JAX...State:FL...Attn: Alexander...the acct# is 44+your case# they gave you. Hope this helps out. I will be contacting my AG tomorrow

Bass and Associates utilize illegal collection tactics. If they call and threaten you with arrest, or accuse you of fraud, wire fraud, bank fraud, crossing state lines fraud...etc, they are violating the laws. Do not fear them, that is what they are hoping for. Do not send them a dime. Tell them that you know that they are under investigation by the Attorney Generals Office of Florida, in which they base their business. Tell them that they will be reported immediately. They practice very hard to scare consumers, so it may sound convincing, but it is all illegal. You are in the power, not them.

I was contacted by Tracy Alexander at Division 431 today also and told the same crap. And I too was scared at first. I was ready to make a payment since I know I owe them about $300, but when she came back stating that I owed them $772 she told me to call her tomorrow before noon to let her know if I was able to "borrow" the money from someone. DUH got it from you ****. I want to pay my debt so I tried to call another department to find out how to make payment arrangement, I asked for an address and told them that I didn't have a credit card and money gram cost too much because it took all I had to come up with the money. They would not give me an address to mail the payment in. So I told them i would have to send them less to account for the money gram charge. I know that they have to also notify you in writing also but they claim they don't because of the contract I signed to get the loan. Does anyone still have their contract. Please tell me there is no "you will be arrested on site" clause for failure to pay.

You will not be arrested! that is a scare tactic to get you to pay them money! If you have already paid what you legall owe on this by your state laws then do not send them any more money. You need to file a complaint with your AG as well as the FL Ag. I promise you are not going to jail. They have threatened me with it several times and no one has come to arrest me.

Is anyone here actually allowing themselves to be frightened by illegal collectors. Come on people, get informed already. Threats of arrest, accusations of white collar crimes are illegal. Most collection agencies, especially Bass and Associates are not even licensed to collect in most states. Don't be the victim; stand up and tell these a$$holes to f#uck off, and that you understand the laws in which protect the consumer. Do not send them a dime, and please file a complaint with the Florida Attorney Generals Office as well as your states AG. Now get out there and spread the word about these Floridian criminals. Bass and Associates, which I have stated numerous times, are criminals, using a UPS store as their "suite" address. They do not apply any money that you send to a debt. They want an amount not legal per laws of each state. They may sound convincing when they tell you that you are being "downloaded" or someone will be picking you up in your workplace, but this is an illegal tactic, and they just hope that you are uninformed and scared enough to wire them money. They are currently under investigation, and with good reason. I may sound as if I am pissed off, and it may be that I am, because I get fired up when I witness my fellow human beings dealing with fear, threats and extortion. I get sort of emotional over this stuff. I wish that I could go to Jacksonville and confront these donkey holes myself. Perhaps next time I will tell you all how I really feel. :)

Yes, Yes, Yes...file the complaint right now. Do not sit by and allow these crooks to harrass you any longer. In fact, call Bass and Associates, and inform them that you are filing a complaint against them for their illegal tactics and attempted extortion. The Attorney General of Florida is practically begging consumers to report the wrong doings of this criminal collection company. In the meantime, you can send these circus clowns a 'cease and desist letter' which will state for them to never contact you again, by any means, or they will face huge fines and possibly criminal proceedings. Come to my site for a letter that you can send via certified mail. It is on the side on my site.

Send collection agencies this letter via certified mail:

Re: Acct# 00000000

To whom it may concern:

This letter is being sent to you in response to a notice sent to me on March 8th, 2050. Please be advised that this is not a refusal to pay, but a notice sent pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 (b) that your claim is disputed and validation is requested.

This is NOT a request for "verification" or proof of my mailing address, but a request for VALIDATION made pursuant to the above Title and Section. I respectfully request that your offices provide me with competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you.

Please provide me with the following:

1. What the money you say I owe is for
2. Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe
3. Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe
4. Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable
5. Identify the original creditor
6. Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account
7. Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state
8. Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent

At this time I will also inform you that if your offices have reported invalidated information to any of the 3 major credit Bureaus (Equifax, Experion or TransUnion) this action might constitute fraud under both federal and State Laws. Due to this fact, if any negative mark is found on any of my credit reports by your company or the company that you represent, I will not hesitate in bringing legal action against you for the following:

1. Violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act-reporting inaccurate information
2. Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act-continuing collection activity on a debt which has not been validated

Also during this validation period, if any action is taken which could be considered detrimental to any of my credit reports, I will consult with my legal counsel for suit. This includes listing of any information to credit reporting repository that could be inaccurate or invalidated or verifying an account as accurate when in fact there is no provided proof that it is.

REQUEST FOR CEASE AND DESIST OF CONTACT BY YOUR OFFICE: I would also like to request, in writing, no further contact, either in writing or telephone be made by your office to my home or to my place of employment, unless it is to provide validation or release of liability of the debt. If your offices attempt telephone communication with me, including but not limited to computer generated calls and calls or correspondence sent to or with third parties, it will be considered harassment and I will have no choice but to file suit.

It would be advisable that you assure that your records are in order before I am forced to take legal action. This is an attempt to correct your records; any information obtained shall be used for that purpose.

Thank you,

I just called and left a message for Tracey alexander i got the call yesterday saying like everyone else i would be arrested and blah blah blah which was hilarious to me cause well got 4 years law school under my belt(hence the need for a payday loan to pay all my other loans) I advised her that i contacted arrowhead investments and they advised me all i owed was the original 250 i borrowed plus an nsf fee of 25.00 and they were more than happy to work out a payment arrangement with me that would work for me also they advised they were more than happy to take a money order. I advised her to not call my work again or my cell or any other contact number she had for me or i would be contacting the campus police i work for the government and they intercept calls from collectors at my job and advise them they arent allowed to call. Luckily i had a gut feeling from the get go unlike some of the other poor people who got swindled by these fecal stains of a company i wanted to say thank god i looked at this site and seen all the other stories that were 100 percent identical to mine even amounts of repayment and time they expected it by.. and like a previous posting i got called hun also and i live in tennessee where that is acceptable but comeing from a lieing bottom feeding heifer like her i am offended lol thanks again guys.

:(

I've dealt with this collection agency. I've had several people call me regarding an account in collection. When I phoned them back and asked for an address. They told me what is it that I need to send to them. I told them that I would rather correspond with them from now on. After talking to several people I still didn't get an address. The guy (David) said I wasn't going to demand anything from him.

My point is if I can't verify this account I will not be paying it. I have a common name and i've had several accounts that were supposedly mine that really are not.

I don't have a problem paying any debts. In fact I'm trying to clean up my credit. However, if these people aren't willing to give me the info I need I won't bother with them.

I have been receiving calls from this company, too. Stating that I have committed fraud and that I was going to jail if I didn't pay them $580.00 in one hour. So far I sent them $100.00. Last week I received a call from a Simpson Cash, then the next day it was a Mr. Orenbuaker?
I was the same person using a different alias. Right now I do not know what to do. They always want me to send a money gram to Jacksonville, FL.

This company is full of lies! You did not commit fraud and no one is taking you to jail and it is illegal for them to tell you this....I am still waiting for the authorities to pick me up from several months ago. Simpson Cash? Hello Red flad like that is his real name right? You guys, file complaints with the FL AG because this company is under investigation for many things! I wouldn't send them any money until they validate the account...still waiting for my validation. How do you know that if you send them the money that they are actually posting it correctly??

I read the forum from before and I send a cease and desist letter to Jackson Phillps after they contacted me at home and left a message threatening me with arrest, etc. I also sent a copy of this letter to the Florida AG and a print out of several pages from the forum about them. I think they tried to call me at work this morning (it was a "Michele" and stated that she was a friend of my boss). She wouldn't leave me a name or phone number. When I *69 I couldn't get a phone number for a return call, which made my suspicious. When I wrote to the FL AG I also mentioned the word "extortion." When a person mentions an arrest warrant, don't worry about it. I contacted JD Marketing the other day and they stated that they no longer had my file and that I needed to call "I-Collect." I called a 727 area code # and was told that I couldn't get through and to "check the number again." This is more than likely a cell phone number and I won't waste my time. I, incidentally, work for a law firm and have told these people that I have free logal representation and that I will sue the s--- out of them with no hesitation. So, don't worry about them. You can go on google and type in "cease and desist letters" and look for a format. I did and sent one to Jackson Phillips (certified mail/return receipt requested). I will also send one to JD Marketing since I have the address and I will send one to I-Collect when I get that address. Remember, use the Florida AG's office (you can find that on the net too - his name is Bill McCollum) and send them a copy certified mail/rrr. Hopes this helps.

I wish to let everyone that wants to know about Bass and Associates, they are a debt collections firm and they have to play by the rules, these rules are that they can not threaten anyone to collect a bad debt they have to advise you of what can happen but they can not say that they are gonna call your job and get you fired, they can not harrass you in any way, if you want them to correspond with you only through the mail then that is what they have to do, they have to be able to provide you with written correspondence on the amount owed if requested through the mail for the total amount due on a bad account, all of these rules are stated on the fcc regulations on the web site; in some states payday loans are illegal and the site should not be available for those people to access these funds so if this has happened to you I work for a debt resolution company called Bryan Financial Services and we would be more than happy to help you please call *** and speak with Jeff Bryan and we can find a solution to this matter. If you borrowed any money you have the legal obligation to pay it back but not an absorment amount of money some of these payday looans are commiting a crime called loan sharking and this is illegal as well. Give us a call.

Wow, a solicitor on this thread? LOL! Steelers, it wouldn't surprise me if this was another name for Bass. They go by a few that I know of. Also, file complaints with your AG's office in your home state as well. Do also with the Federal Trade Commission. If they have left messages on your machines, keep them for future reference. If they are dumb enough to leave illegal threats on your answering machine, then they deserve what's coming to them. This is one of the worst CA's out there right now. (just my opinion)

Cajun and I are constantly saying the same thing, because more and more people are coming here to report Bass and Associates wrong doings; Do not wire these crooks your money. They do not put your money to any debt anyway. They are crooked and acting illegally. Even if you do owe money, send them a Letter of Validation, and if they have threatened you in any way, such as arrest or accusations of fraud, please report them to the Florida Attorney General's Office right now. Also, please tell friends and family about them, so they can also spread the word about these criminals.

I am a federal government employee and these retards called me telling me that i owed in excess of $1500 and that i had until 5pm to send a money gram payment or they would contact my HR department to enlighten them of my using of the govt computers. They also said that i am facing two criminal charges and will be prosecuted if i didnt comply. It wasnt until i googled the name and found this forum, that i stopped taking their harassing phone calls at work. Also, there is another company by the name of Westbury Ventures sending emails to me from Fran Porter, She is also threatning consequences and that my SS# is under investigation. Anybody know anything about her???

I was also called from this Bass & Associates. The address that was sent to me was 9378 Arlinton Expressway Ste 323 Jacksonville, FL 32225 and the number was 877-281-2220. When I called the company to find out what was going on, they informed me in a very rude manner that I must moneygram them 1582.80 before 12:00am or they would be contacting my state and county and I would be placed in the "system" and be made an example out of. The woman that keeps calling me goes by the name of Bethany Trousky and she made me talk to a lady named Carrie Young. What should I do about these people?

Case#2207-00

Dear Debtor,

At this point I can only assume that you are intentionally refusing to resolve this matter voluntarily, meaning you intentionally deceived this company. This company loaned you money in ???????GOOD FAITH??????? and funds were electronically deposited into your ACTIVE checking account. Once you defaulted on the terms of the agreement, we were forced to allow extension fees to accrue on your account. I have tried to work with you to get this matter resolved but you have consistently avoided repayment on this account. I????????ve extended settlement offers, and payment arrangements but you????????ve refused every attempt to acknowledge this debt on a voluntarily basis. Unfortunately I can no longer secure any unpaid cases so they will be released from my possession for further review between today (4/16/07) through (4/27/07).

This action will lead to a significant jump in the amount you owe plus further collection action will proceed swiftly. This is NOT a threat or any intention to cause financial harm but my job must be completed. If you truly want to resolve this matter in a cultured manner, then contact me with your payment information today. I understand that bad things happen to good people, but by avoiding the situation doesn????????t make is disappear. I am willing to re-establish an agreement and secure this account, but I must hear from you today and a payment must be made on this account very soon. Making a small payment ($200.00) to put a hold on your balance is better than making none at all.

If no response is received from you then I will assume that you are giving me the authority to make the final decision regarding this account. Again, if no payment information is received regarding your account you can guarantee that I will be forced to pursue you for the full balance owed plus any fees associated with your loan contract. This is an action that I do not feel comfortable doing so please work with me. Please contact me via telephone or email to resolve this account voluntarily and prevent further collection action.
