Now awhile ago I posted a topic about a call I received from pre-litigations from 866-900-7694. Now today I get a call from a different lady form the same number 866-900-7694 and now she is telling me it's Bass & Associates. Seriously what is wrong with these people.
One day I get a call from a woman telling me to reach her at two 904 numbers. She then tells me she is from prelitigations/interstate wire compliance. Then the next day she calls and leaves the 866-900-7694 number to call her back on. Then today they are Bass & Associates with the same number. They proceeded to tell me i committed fraud and the papers are in the process of downloading and I will be picked up on site. She asked me if I had ever been picked up on site before. Not to mention I heard a few chuckles in the background. She told me they were going to be faxing papers over to my employers. The best part is she even gave me a case number.

Oh yeah, it was my understanding that Crosby was the one who filed bankruptcy, not David Jacobs. Wow, one would think that you know for sure before saying anything at all steelers1, or at least put allegedly. But hey, maybe you like to put this website and its reputation at risk my making unfounded statements. Ciao.

I told her NO. she called me names and said I was going to end up like Martha Stewart did because of my crime.

I wouldnt worry about them. They threaten everything. Contact your Attorney General and file a complaint against them. They are under investigation in several states. Maybe before you know it they will be serving time in the same state as Martha. KYSIDE38

I was contacted by a Bass Prelitigation collector who stated that I committed three financial crimes against Arrowhead Investments Payday Loan Company because the ACH debit didn't go through several times. They basically accused me of misusing Federal funds, Worthless Check, and accepting money across state lines. The collector told me that I had until 3 p.m. in my time zone to get the money to them or the file would be turned over to Mississippi authorities for prosecution. Is this crazy or what? Have any of you experienced this from them? I didn't know if was a Federal crime to default on a loan or debt!!

They are not going to arrest you. Bass is famous for this lie, they are the ones that are committing crimes. There is several investigations and lawsuits against them. Just do a search on this site and you will find a ton of information. KYSIDE38

Read the posts in other forums here. These are the reason why they are now being sued by the Florida Attorney General. He is also requesting from the court, that the company's corporate license be pulled and that the owners be banned from collection activities. File your complaint with the Florida Attorney General. He is also requesting that the court orders Bass (and their other corporate entities) pay restitution to persons.

Received my first and hopefully only call from Bass & Associates today..was really enlightenig, all the threats and when I tried to ask what company they were calling on behalf of the at first wouldn't give me the name, instead the second individual I spoke to, Malcolm Smith tried to give me political science class on him enforcing the Constitution that he said was written in 1776..just a few years off there pal, especially as I am a soldier and defend that Constitution!! I filed a complaint with the BBB of Northeast Florida and have filed a complaint with the Attorney General of the state of Kentucky as that is where I currently am stationed, so we shall see what the resolution is. Had a pdl of $250.00 and have paid back over $1,300.00 since October 2006..I believe they have gotten theres!!

look , i hate to tell u guys but u are wasting your time here. iam a x collector in jax fl..i know the owners of these agencys very well, we all worked together thru the years. they shut down temporaily and open up later, they cant be stopped. its so funny because the owners of allen lewis & assoc post all the time here trying to divert attention from themselves, its halarious. i think he is x collector and is shady as hell, as the rest of them or worst. the best way to combat these places is to stop getting payday loans and defaulting on them. fix your credit!

Eric you are hilarious in your visions. The law is on our side and we are grouping together with law enforcement & reporters to expose these companies. I do agree with paying you obligations, but these companies must follow the law or pay the price. Collecting under fdcpa is really not that hard to follow.

debt collectors sued for $1.3 million

Quote:

A Jacksonville agency was probed after 130 complaints were filed.

By J. Taylor Rushing, Capital Bureau Chief

TALLAHASSEE - A Jacksonville debt collection agency was sued for more than $1.3 million Monday by State Attorney General Bill McCollum on claims the agency was impersonating attorneys and state officials, threatening arrests and collecting excessive fees.

The lawsuit was filed in Duval County against Bass Prelitigation Services Inc.; a related company, Jackson Phillips & Associates; and the owners of both firms, Frank and Evelyn Jackson.

It seeks an unknown amount in restitution payments plus $1.3 million in penalties, or $10,000 for each violation of Florida's Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, plus dissolution of the companies and a permanent injunction against future collection businesses.

The Times-Union did not receive a response to two messages left with company receptionists Monday.

A total of 130 complaints about the company have been received by the attorney general's Economic Crimes Division since January 2006, with most coming since October. Investigators opened a probe in November. McCollum's lawsuit claims the company knew it was being investigated, yet continued its "abusive tactics."

"Consumers under financial burdens deserve our protection and consideration, not the predatory nature of these allegations," McCollum said in a statement.

According to the lawsuit, those tactics included sending employees to pose as government investigators; extorting money from consumers by threatening arrest; claiming and collecting excessive payments; and abusing or harassing consumers, such as calling them at work. All are illegal under state law.

I too became a victim of these jerks yesterday. Received a call from Sandy Miller stating the same kind of stuff, that most everyone else on here has heard from them. It was my wifes pdl but she said since we were married I too was responsible. She went on and on about what was going to happen if it was not paid immediately. When I asked for a confirmation of debt letter, she said you already have one, by way of your contract.

I asked to speak with a Supervisor, and was told that none of the Lawyers were available. That they were all either in deposition or Court. What a crock! Once I got off the phone, I contacted an Attorney that I found that deals with this stuff. He said that the only people violating any Federal Laws was Bass Prelitigation. That they could do nothing like they said that they could. I then googled Bass, and found that the Florida AG had just recently filed a Civil Action against them, after a lengthly investigation of the organization. I called the AG's Office and was directed to a website where I could file a complaint against them.

I have done so, and imagine their surprise this morning when they called and said that I had broken the promise to pay this morning. I was told that we would be arrested within the hour. I told the gal that I doubted that, and asked why, after having a Civil Action Filed against them for these practices where they still conducting business the same way?
She flat out said that no action had been filed against them, and that anything that I might find on the Internet about them was all lies. I then asked her about the Florida AG site, where it talks about the suit. She told me that it was a bogus site set up by unhappy deadbeats. I told her that she could go F**k herself and to have a nice day.

A cease and desist letter is on its way to them this morning.

I have seen some postings on here about the address for Bass being a UPS Store. UPS bought out all the Mail Boxes Etc., a few years back to compete with FedEx Kinkos. I have seen a number of small business operations use a Suite number, as does Bass versus a Box Number. That most likely is the case here.

If anyone on this thread lives in JAX, they need to run by that place and let them know how they are support a real crook.

God only knows where their real place of business is. I suspect it's at the bottom of some dumpter somewhere!!

I had a phone call from Bass and Associates on July 31st threatening to have me arrested if I didn't pay Arrowhead Inv. I did pay the money. I just got off the phone with the FL AG's office and they filed the complaint saying that B&A had violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. They referred me also to the Federal trade commission. I hope I can get my $763.90 back.

We are getting tortured by Hailey Nickelberry from Bass or prelitagation. They're going to arrest my husband b/c he's a civilian employee of the military adn violates his contract. Debt does not violate his contract. we do owe a PDL of $350. I got so scared I paid them $2000 in 2 weeks and had my mortgage bounce because of it. Until I came here. I do owe the remaining $350, but I have no intention of paying it in the next 24 hours. They said they called "your husband at work to determine his whereabouts for pick up". Good luck, it's a Naval Base and you'll never got on babe, not even a constable. Thank you for this information. Although her calls are deceitful and harrassing, I know there's no chance I can go to jail for $300. They also threatened to tell me that the bank had filed a suit b/c of fraud. My bank manager is my friend, and has never been contacted about the incident.

Andi,
If you have paid them $2000 for a $300 pdl, tell me how you still owe money on the PDL??? Run this by me again?????
Also, my husband was also a DOD employee before he retired--for the Navy, btw--and I can tell you that if your husband is also DOD, there is no way he violated his contract, because he never signed one to begin with. Once again, Bass is blowing smoke you know where.
And I would love to be a fly on the wall if Bass EVER tried to get on base!!!! Can't you just picture it: (Bass employee driving up to the main gate. Security guard: "State your business." Basshole: "I'm here to illegally extort money and arrest a DOD employee through threats and intimidation". Security: "One sec while we call the Shore Patrol to haul your skanky butt away!!!"

we had SEVERAL payday loans, which I don't dispute having, things were awful. I just got a call from Haley Nickelberry that says "the client has asked us to refund your $$$ you've already paid b/c you haven't finsihed out paying the $300 that we owe" so basically, you'll refund me the $2000 that we've paid b/c of this little balance? She hung up on me. So I called my DH and he freaked out on her, so I don't really know what happened b/c he was so pissed. We did the right thing and paid what we could when we had it, stop busting my chops over it!

I will still file a complaint with the AG of FL just b/c I can. I was under the impression they did pay the loans, b/c we've never gotten calls from the original creditors EVER since paying on them and berfore.
