"Interstate Collections" is located somewhere in Jacksonville, Flordia.

Also, the same switchboard operator who use to work for Ted, at Ellis Crosby & Associates, is now working at Interstate.

Weird ain't it?

Phone number: 866-225-4872

Hopefully no one has to deal with them, as many are starting to get threatening calls from them.

It's also possible that they are called something else, but I was told by another forum member that they are "Interstate". Whoever they are, the switchboard operator is definitely the same person who answered "how can I dircect your call" for Ted Crosby.

Regards-
Mike

I have been recieving calls from them yesterday they called then they called again this morning befor 8 my time.Today they said they were representing a bank.It was the same voice and when i asked him where he was from or who he represented he wouldnt answer.I know i have a debt to payback but i or anyone else does not need this harrasment.Same as others stories here the claim to be in Wyo. and that i could only pay with moneygram. Was even told he was going out on a limb for me with the bank he represented.only name i can recall at this moment he said his name was Jeffery and spoke very broken english or at the least hard to understand.can anyone help?

Guests,

Please go through this forum and have an idea how this company is doing business? Some of the members have commented over here that Ellis Crosby is doing business with these aliases.

So it's always better to follow the rules of debt collection. Ask them to validate the debt. Enquire about their mailing address to send the DV letter. A legitimate company would not hide their identity. If they refuse to give their mailing address, you should be careful.

Hi, Are collections agencies allowed to use automated dialing and an automated voice to contact you? I have been getting automated recording from a collection agency. When I go to pick up the phone and say "Hello" all I get is this automated messages saying this is Linda Baker, this is not a sales calls,
etc. Does anyone have any information about this and what can I do about it? Thanks - just love your site it is full of very useful information

Guest,

Do you have any idea about which collection agency is calling you? You can send them cease comm letter through CMRRR. They should stop contacting you after receiving this letter.

Also if you know which account they are collecting, then contact the OC and try to repay it. collection agencies are using auto dialers for a long time. It seems they do not update the database of their system and wrong information often stay there for years causing trouble to blameless people.

Consider getting listed in donotcall registry. Though it is applicable for telemarketing calls, however, you can try it.

Bryan, when I called the bank they claimed they are representing I was told in a rude way, that I have to speak directly with this collection agency, Allied One
end of conversation on their part. When I call the number they give and ask for this person by name I get a different name of the company and I never get to speak with this person who leaves the mesage.
They claim this happened back in 1998 over draft fees and this is now 2006 and the first time I am hearing about this. Any thoughts, suggestions are welcomed at this point. I have already listed them on the do not call list but have not followed up maybe now I should.

Guest,

You have not mentioned which state do you belong to, however, 8 years is quite a long time. Please check your state laws regarding statute of limitation. No legal action can be taken against you for past SOL debts.

But it would not stop collectors, they would continue calling you. The only way is sending cease comm. letters. Hope this helps, feel free to post your queries in forums.

It appears Ellis Crosby has hired themselves a new fast-talking hick named James Davis. He has an unintelligible southern accent and speaks so fast you can't understand a thing he says.

Anyone else heard from this guy?

Guest,

Generally creditors report your account to CRA. It seems your bank did not inform Chexsystem about your account, which might be the reason your Chexsystem was clear one year ago.

However, as you have mentioned that you have no idea of these overdraft fees, ask the collectors to validate the debt first. Third party debt collectors must provide valid proof of the debt that they are collecting. It will help you understand how much legitimate it is.

So speak to them and get their address. Then send DV letter, make it certified.

Also consult a lawyer to confirm the statute of limitation of the said debt. SOL in NJ is 6 yrs. Still it would be better if you can verify it from a local lawyer and be sure when does the clock start for this specific case.

Hope this helps. Please keep us informing on what is going on.

Thanks so much for this information. I, too, was contacted by Scott Schneider of Interstate Wire Compliance Bureau who said that I had to wire money before the SOL ran out. Thank God that I didn't wire any money! I was horrified initially but after reading this forum was put at ease. I will be contacting the creditor directly. I have also filed a complaint with FTC.

Bryan,
Got another from Alliance One, yes there is no such person by the name of Linda Baker and it is an automatic dialer that they use. Spoke to a live person and explained the situation - told her they have to validate the debit by law. She told me send a dispute letter to them. Which I will do and gave me the address in PA. Will also try and contact the bank again. Can you think of anything that I might do? Thanks again

Guest,

It seems they have not validated the debt yet. Unless they validate the debt, how can you dispute it? So first send them DV letter through CMRRR. Write them to validate the debt they are collecting. Once they receive the letter, they should send you validation within 30 days.

You can add one section in the letter stating that you will prefer to be contacted through mails only. So they must stop calling you. Keep copy of this letter and save the return receipt carefully.

You can browse the list of sample letter for more help-

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/books/sampleletter.pdf

Now, when you receive the validation, watch it very well and check if all items are correct or not. If you find any discrepancy in it, dispute it. You will get another 30 days time to dispute it. Hope this info helps. Get back to forums if you have any more queries :D

Bryan, When I asked for/told her by law she has to send me the debit valiation, we are only talking overdraft fees, she asked if I was disputing this and that I had to send a letter stating that, etc, etc. Got the feeling she was avoiding the issue. We verfied information, the address they had on file was not correct, I don't remember if she asked me for the correct address, but between 1998 and 2000, I lived at that address and in March 2000 moved, never recieved anything and the postoffice change of address form is good for one year and never received anything at my new address which I also told her.

Fine. Send them dispute letter through CMRRR. Mention all the doubts that you have with this debt-

No previous communication,
Chexsystem is clear,
Incorrect address and so on.

You can consult a sample dispute letter.

I am getting calls from Scott Schneider at 866-201-4603 and Charles Siemer 866-225-4872 to collect on a payday loan they say I have that is outstanding. They can't provide me with any information regarding the original loan until it is paid in full, they can only tell me the original loan holder. They said the bank that is issuing this is US National Bank & Savings..how do I know if this is legit?? I thought I had paid this loan off..I am trying to contact the original loan company, but Scott said if I do not pay by tonight legal action will be taken. What does that mean?? Will a police officer be coming to my place of employement or home?? Will I be arrested or served with legal papers?? I am really scared about this..but, I guess that means they are doing their jobs.
Any advice????

Amy314 - Did they say what state this bank is in?
These people have been giving phoney names of banks. When they told me the name and state of the bank, I checked it out online using the yellow or white pages link and put in the name of the bank and state. It will list all the banks in that state. Read the information on this site and it will tellyou who these people are and how they work bottom line to not pay them anything.

Amy314,

Don't get scared. You are right, they are doing their jobs. Please understand collectors are not allowed to use scaring techniques. They have to pay a toll if caught red handed.

debt validation is your right. You have done the right thing by asking for validation and they should send it out once you have requested. Ask for their address and send them DV through CMRRR.

View this page for more info on them-

http://forums.debtcc.com/interstate-collections.html

Try to locate the original lender and settle it with them directly. Feel free to ask your queries in forums.
So, if I don't pay tonight what are the legal actions they are talking about?
Seriously, I can't have police coming to my work or my home!!
That is the point at which they catch consumers. How can police come to your place unless you have done a crime? Remember, there is no debtors' jail in the country.

Creditor can sue debtors, but it requires court hearings first and creditor needs to win the judgment. This was a scaring approach, you need not worry much. Contact the original creditor soon and see what they recommend.

THEY WOULDN'T GIVE ME THEY'RE MAILING ADDRESS OR ANYTHING. THEY SAID THEY WANTED TO MAKE AN EXAMPLE OUT OF ME. I WANT TO KNOW IF THEY ARE LEGIT.

I received a phone call today from Ron Jefferies. He said that he was headed to court in an hour because their client Paragon wanted to get the state involved. He said that they would not accept anything from me. He said that because I used my work email that they were taking it to my company and that I needed to have my companies attorney contact them. I called back and they gave me a payoff of 810.00 for a 300.00 payday loan. I am to send it quick collect to cheyanne Wyoming. Help....

Tina,

Wait for a moment. How can you send them money without having the debt validation? What if they call again in future and demand another $810? Always ask for some written document before you pay. Third party debt collectors must provide you with validation according to fdcpa.

So ask them to validate the debt, you can send them a DV letter through CMRRR also.

Do another thing, contact your original creditor and make sure if this agency is holding your account or not. Please go through this page before sending the money:

What if they refuse to validate and say they are going to procede with legal actions? That is what they told me if I don't pay by tonight.

Also, I sent them payment for another loan (I know..dumb move!!) and they said if I don't pay this one they are going to send back the money I already sent ($340) and send the total to be processed.
They said this is all though some bank..US National Bank and Savings bank..I can't find them online or anything about them

Amy, Listen to them. I am not sending them anything today. I had a friend already to help me out because I thought I was going to loose my job over this.
I am contacting the original debtor tonight and go from there. i suggest you do the same thing.
