Anyone here ever heard of palisades collection agency??
Man, this is sooo wild!!! I go to the mailbox today and theres a letter from these people saying that my account has been 'sold' by my "previous" creditor to my 'current'creditor. They have the original creditor as being Chase Bank and the previous creditor as being Chase Manhattan Bank and have themselves as being the current creditor. Its for $962.61.
Okay, this is why this throws me off. Our home morgage was originally with Chase manahattan bank (the only dealings we've ever had with Chase, that I'm aware of), then in February 1998 (almost 8 years ago!!!) we refinanced with Aames home loans. They paid Chase totally off and that was that. Also, I have a second mortgage on my home, if we owed Chase any money, it would have came up then and we would of had to pay it before the second mortgage went through. But everything was fine.
I have never heard from any of these people from palisades collection llc in this letter. And to the best of my knowledge, I have only dealt with Chase during our first mortgage, before it was sold. 8 years ago!!! (february will be 8 years).
If we owed them money why didn't we hear anything over the past 8 years? weird! Aames paid everything off with Chase. My credit report shows that things were left in good standing with chase. If this isn't that, then I don't know what else it could be since I haven't gotten letters from palisades collection llc before TODAY.
I am floored, to the point I am speechless here. I mean, I start trying to get things straightened out, and then someone else pops up..people I have never even heard of. where do these people come from? Its like they come out of the wood work?!!!
okay, so my question is if anyone here has dealt with the collection agency before?? Anyone know Palisades collection phone number (Palisades collection number)?
And--what other accounts does chase manhattan Bank handle?
thank you! Shirley
p.s. Do I bring enough Drama to the forum??? lol
what would you guys do without me? lol

Thank you all so much. I have learned to google any and ever company name for updates and status of that company. Recently, Palisades showed up on my report as well. Thank you so much for the details given on how to followup and get this issue taken care of.

I want to thank you all for you input and information about this comapany. My story is simular, but I blamed the creditor and not the collection companies, which was totally wrong.

I just looked at my credit report online and notice that a AT&T account that I paid in June of 2003 was on the collection page as past due. What was strange to me was that I not only paid this the first time and did not have a record of it (Dumb me), so I had to pay, or settle, it again to get it off my report. So when I saw this company I notice that it did not have an address nor a contact number. When I did a search, i came to this page first and am I so grateful that I was lead here and not to them. I am praying that God may lead us all with power, love, and a sound mind to get our situations taken care of quickly and correctly. Be blessed!

I just read a post on Statue of limitations. I have a questions on this. Palisades opened a case against me for a 3 or 4 year old AT & T bill that I incurred in New York...but then I moved and they just found me in my new state. Would the Statue of limitations be for the state that I incurred the debt or the state that they filed the case?

Shelly

The Statute of limitation of that state will be counted where the debt account originally occurred. The date of last activity will determine whether your account is still within legal collection period. Do you know when the last payment was done on the account?

I am new to this discussion, but not new to being harassed by Palisades for Cingular/AT&T. I am currently attempting to clean up my credit on my own. Can anyone tell me what the ruling is for how long things can stay on your CR? I was under the impression that it was 7 years fromt he last activity - anyone able to verify?
Thank you.

I recieved a summons from Palisades Sunday morning from a guy with a gray t-shirt and jeans. I asked him what the papers were for and he did not know. I need some advice also. They have filed a suit with me and I have 20 days to respond. How do I go about seeing if they are legit, before trying to settle this without going to court? They told me I had a bill of $900.00, but on the summons it says for a credit card and not a cell phone. I have never had a credit card with ATT.

What do you do when you've been served a notice with a threat of law suit over a $1100 AT&T bill?

Confirm with your local court if this notice is legitimate. It must have a court date on it.

If this is just an unofficial threat about filing a lawsuit, it's nothing but hot air.

Is Palisades Collection sending you the papers? You debt account should be put in writing they got from your credit company. After checking the details that it is free from all disputes, send your payments convenient to you.

Needless to say, this blog is providing very little help to anyone. How many times can someone tell us to send a debt validation letter? WE GET IT! Obviously, the normal steps to combat Palisades are NOT WORKING!!! Am I clear? The phone number does not help! It's worthless so thanks anyway. All they do is ask for more information that they can use to further ruin you! Can anyone offer some advice that actually works with Palisades? Probably not. Like everyone has been saying, Palisades is a SCAM! Why doesn't anyone address the real issue here? A class action lawsuit is needed. Basically we're all screwed. If you pay the debt, you're screwed, if you fight it, they sue you. And I'm so freaking sick of the people on here that can't form correct sentences or use correct punctuation. Can anyone use the English language the way it was intended and provide some accurate, helpful advice??? I can't understand half the entries writtin here. Are you all from another country or did you drop out of high school??? Do I send the damn validation letter just to have them sue me? Do I pay the debt and have them say I still owe it? For the love of God, are there any correct answers or any people with an education that can steer me in the right direct? I will pay you $50 for someone to give the correct advice.

often times when collection agencies buy debts from creditors. they purchase what is the remaining balance from a payoff. In other words, if you settle a debt for less than the amount of the original financed amount. Technically you don't have to pay anymore, but it still shows up on your credit report as a settlement in full or SIF. Some finance companies especially mortgage companies require that you payoff SIF's before financing you. These collection agencies purchase this remaining balance with the hope that you will want to turn a SIF into a PIF or payment in full on your credit report. Unsavory collection companies try to trick you into paying the remaining balance of your SIF's. I was a bill collector for Six years.

What is needed is a class action lawsuit; it's the only way to stop them. They have a lot to lose in the stock market, if they get sued by the public. They are listed as "Asta Funding Inc." On August 9th they reported record third quarter and nine months revenues and net income. They own Palisades and buy debt from mostly AT&T. I too have sent them two valdation letters certified. That was over 45 days ago. The CRA's refuse to take the debt from my reports, because Palisades electronically verifies the debt as valid back to the troglodytes at the CRAs. This is not even my debt from AT&T. Go to NACA (National Association of Consumer Adovocates). That is my next step. I have downloaded a firm's name from the internet that handles FRC and fdcpa cases. As soon as my stomach settles, I will give them a call. Don't bother with the BBB, or the Federal Trade Commission (no help there, and a waste of your time). I do not want your $50. Your are correct, this site is basically useless. Some advice for you, do not call Palisades back. I made that mistake just once. I feel your frustration.

They have to get a judgement against you first, and you must be notified. If you get one, show up in court. You do not need an attorney to defend yourself on that issue. Once you are put into that position, they will have to show proof that you owe the debt.

The FCRA has written rules to protect the consumer, but the more you read, the more you can see that, in realty, it does not. They do not inforce the very laws they make. The CRAs and collection agencies have the upper hand. The consumer must spend time and money to prove they do not owe a debt. Palisades can kiss my rear; they will never face me in court, because they know they have no proof. That is why they don't answer back when they are sent a validation letter. They are hoping we are a bunch of dummies who will pay up, or the low-life company they are (sucking blood from consumers)will keep it on your CRA. The CRA's are out to lunch permanently. Like the collection agencies they are only out to make a buck off our backs by selling our personal information for cash.

Hi there, I am trying to get in touch with Palisades so that someone can explain to me why am I being charged but they do not answer the phone and it also appears that there isn't even a website for the company or anything, does anyone know about their website or a phone number where I can reach these people, I would really appreciate any help that anyone can provide.

Call Cingular. They will get the information for you including an account number. They have an ATT wireless records group. I did this and found that the charge was somewhat legal and had to do with cancelation charges. I'm just paying it since I got them to fax me a 'we are going to delete from the CRAs" letter.

Can anyone help me out? I'm not sure what to do. I have just been notified from the district court that Palisades is suing me for over 1800 dollars and I called Pallisades today and they gave me another number to call and that number gave me another number to call when all was said and done the final information I got was that it was from a credit card debt. I have never had a credit card for any where close to that amount and the company they told me it was from I have never even heard of. I have now gotten papers from two different law firms for the same collection but they both have a different amount on them. I only have 20 days to do anything about this. I don't have a lot of money right now because I have been off work on medical leave for the past three months. Any information would be a big help. Thank you for all the help.

So we went to court to make a date to see a moderator (I thought it was to let the judge settle). My debt had been written off by the credit card company. Date of last activity was 1/2002 (CA law SoL is 4 years). The date on the papers was 4/2006 and went into the mail 6/2006. What????????s up with these #$@&*$?

This company seems to come frrom no where. They reported an accountt to my credit very easily. Which in fact I don't owe AT&T. I found that information through some one else. I am very upset at the fact that it is so hard to get this off my credit.

So when I was 18, I got my sister a cell phone as she was recently divorced from her husband. Being the naive kid I was, I put everything to her address. She moved and so did the bill.

Well 2 weeks ago, I got served with a summons from Richard Battaglino, attorney for Palisades Collection LLC, for a $1350 bill that my sister ran up and never paid. I called Palisades phone after getting it from here and they were basically useless. Accusing me of ignoring phone calls and letters they sent.

Any thoughts on this one or should I be looking for an attorney.

I am glad to see that I am not the only one fighting these jerks at Palisades. My problem is the debt is legitimately not mine. I had a similar episode with Calvary Portfolio about a year ago only to find out that Sprint screwed up the social security #. That was removed only to find out that it back on. Now getting to Palisades, they say it is from AT&T which I have never done business with and my address is in a town that I never lived in. They wouldn't verify or deny my social and told me I had to call some attorney's office if I wanted to dispute.
Not sure what to do here, but I do know that when I am done they will paying me a healthy chunk of change for the higher interest rates I have paid, the time spent fighting them and attorney fees. Any suggestions or directions would be great.

Was looking for litigation against Palisades on the net and found this string. I am currently suing Palisades and their agents/partners/shareholders/lawyers/compadres - no one wants to admit much affiliation with them or explain their relationships. They tried to extort money from me on a former Chase account I'd already paid off. They are a REAL piece of work! They are either owned by or are partnered with or at least employ Wolpoff & Abramson and their network of law offices belonging to their National Collection Attorney Nework (again, they are all in cahoots but don't want to disclose the truth.)
I suggest you go to budhibbs.com and read about these people - they are all the same - and you will get a lot of good information.
Hope it helps! Don't let them get away with breaking the law!

About a month and a half ago I received a summons to district court from the sherriff's dept, to the tune of some $1800,Palisades being the plaintiff. After reading these forums, I realized it must be for an old ATT acct. We had cancelled the acct 3 years ago, at the end of our contract term, so there should have been no canclellation fees. My bill was usuall $120 a month, but to my knowledge, all was paid. I have not received any notification from ATT of an outstanding debt, etc. Well, I contacted the court and told them I intended to defend. My court date was coming up this Monday, the 13th. Well, lo and behold, yesterday I received notice in the mail that they had withdrawn the case and it was dismissed without prejudice. What bothers me here is, I don't owe this debt, however, had I not done something, they would have gotten a judgement against me for all that money! Don't they have to show some type of validation to request a court date? I think of all the people that probably don't show up for this, and think of all the illegitate judgments this company is probably accrueing and it bothers me....

When a collection agency you have never heard of goes after you and there is no valid reason for this, immediately contact the State Attorney General's office in your area. Usually they are online and file a consumer complaint form against them. The consumer complaint forms are ususlly on the State Attorney General's website or contact them by phone and request a consumer complaint form to be sent to you via the mail. The State Attorney General's office will investigate the problem and get back with you on their findings usually within two weeks. They will investigate your problem for free. If there is any wrong doing found, the State Attorney General's office will resolve the problem completely and to the full extent of the law. When filling out the consumer complaint form simply follow the directions on the form, be direct, factually, and completely honest, as what you put in writing will be scrutinized.

Hope this helps. Good luck to you.

Palisade collection LLC - 201-567-5648 is a Delaware Limited Liability company. Their address is

210 Sylvan Ave
Englwood Cliffs
NJ 07632

Did you get anything from Palisades about validating the debt? The company needs to send you in writing about the account they have from GTE Southwest Incorp. They should prove their authorization before you send the money.

I need help please! I went to apply for a loan today and was told I had a collection account from Palisades open for over $7000. I came home and ordered my credit report from all 3 agencies and saw that it was on there 2 times and also that my Chase credit card account that was discharged in bankruptcy years ago for the exact same amount Palisades is showing was showed as status in collections when it should be charged off? Does anybody have advice on what I can do? My credit is bad enough without this inaccuracy! Does calling them do anything?

i recently went to use my bank card at a store and found that it was denied.so i checked with the bank and this palisades froze my account and too 75.00 legal fee. now mind you i am on workers comp. I have been for 3 years now. I had made payment arrangements with the people of 10 every 2 weeks and they took the first payment but then sent me a letter telling me that the payment was not acceptable.
To me that sounds like refusal of payment. I know they can not touch my workers comp legally. how can i get my money back from them.

This was originaly an AT&T disputed amount owed from a cell acct. over three years ago. Something I keep in mind when choosing a cell carrier. Are you listening Cingular? Anybody know how I can light a fire under their a** to get them to show my account as closed?

I received a letter from Wolpoff & Abramson, RE: Palisades Collection for an AT & T account. I have never had an account with AT & T or any one associated, bought out, etc. with AT & T. The letter was addressed to the company that I work for but sent to my home address. This is not my debt. What do I do?
I have reported them online to FTC and am going to call AG tomorrow. Sending a certified letter. I have perfect credit. Can these people be stopped?
