Anyone here ever heard of palisades collection agency??
Man, this is sooo wild!!! I go to the mailbox today and theres a letter from these people saying that my account has been 'sold' by my "previous" creditor to my 'current'creditor. They have the original creditor as being Chase Bank and the previous creditor as being Chase Manhattan Bank and have themselves as being the current creditor. Its for $962.61.
Okay, this is why this throws me off. Our home morgage was originally with Chase manahattan bank (the only dealings we've ever had with Chase, that I'm aware of), then in February 1998 (almost 8 years ago!!!) we refinanced with Aames home loans. They paid Chase totally off and that was that. Also, I have a second mortgage on my home, if we owed Chase any money, it would have came up then and we would of had to pay it before the second mortgage went through. But everything was fine.
I have never heard from any of these people from palisades collection llc in this letter. And to the best of my knowledge, I have only dealt with Chase during our first mortgage, before it was sold. 8 years ago!!! (february will be 8 years).
If we owed them money why didn't we hear anything over the past 8 years? weird! Aames paid everything off with Chase. My credit report shows that things were left in good standing with chase. If this isn't that, then I don't know what else it could be since I haven't gotten letters from palisades collection llc before TODAY.
I am floored, to the point I am speechless here. I mean, I start trying to get things straightened out, and then someone else pops up..people I have never even heard of. where do these people come from? Its like they come out of the wood work?!!!
okay, so my question is if anyone here has dealt with the collection agency before?? Anyone know Palisades collection phone number (Palisades collection number)?
And--what other accounts does chase manhattan Bank handle?
thank you! Shirley
p.s. Do I bring enough Drama to the forum??? lol
what would you guys do without me? lol

Palisades will not answer your request no matter how many green cards you get back. I have sent three certified letters with return receipt with no answer. I have also called them four times requesting validation of debt. The CRA's have investigated (that is a joke) and validated the debt. This is done electronically; all they do is ask "is this correct, and the collection agency sends back-yes." They have put on my reports "debt validated, consumer disagrees." Plus Palisades has added "Responsible Party" on my file. I have put a permanent block to sell my credit information on my CRA reports. The CRA's lose money if they can not sell your information. I have had perfect credit unitl Palisades showed up. I figure that blocking the credit report money making system for the CRA's will cost them. Everyone should do this to the CRA's. The FRCA makes rules to protect consumers that they never inforce. Ya another joke of a system.

The beginnings of a class action v. palisades collection llc for violations of fdcpa has started. Goto lawsuit.palisadesclassaction.com to post your story and see if you can take part.

They tried to sue me and lost because they could not provide me with documentation for an alleged Discover Card. In the whole process they violated quite a few FDCPA / FCRA Statutes.

We need your support. The website just started today so there wont be many on there yet. Be patient, post your story and rewards may follow.

Lets all join together to fight Palisades in their shady and unlawful collection practices.

I recently just received a summons from them that stated that I had to be in court when I called to find out what was goin on the customer service rep was very rude to me and told me that I was wasting his time and he was going to terminate the call and hung up on me before he hung up he was sure to tell me that he was going to mark my account as a refusal to pay and he really doesn't care about my account.

I just checked my bank statement and saw holds of $1700+ on both my checking and savings accounts (one of which is now way in the negative because of this). I believe that my mother might owe Providian/Chase money, but that should have nothing to do with me. My mom made me an authorized user on her card when I was 16 or 17, but I don't think I ever even used the card. The bank says that they received a court order to put a hold on the money, but I have never received a summons, or any letter from the court.
What would my best course of action be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The # I was able to reach someone at is 866-230-8094. They have an intro that automatically assumes you are calling to DUSPUTE the items. You then have to press 1, 2, 3, or 4 to get past that, Pressing 4 wil take you to being able to press 2 and hold for a person. At which you hold and hold and hold!

Hello,

I have been reading this thread, and have a follow-up question regarding documentation.

Palisades was able to provide documentation of the debt they say I owe to Verizon, however, the account is from 2001-2002, and since the debt is so old, Verizon did not have all of the account notes to provide to Palisades.

The debt originally was a result of identity theft, which was noted in the account notes and the fraudulent dollar amount was written off at the time. However, that information was not forwarded on to Palisades, and when I ask both Verizon and Palisades, neither says they are in possession of the account information.

I do not have documentation that the amount was written off and that it was not my responsibility.

Do I have a recourse or further way of disputing the documentation and debt?

Thanks

P,
You have quite a few options available to you.If they cannot prove it is yours they are required to cease collection in accordance with federal law.
https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/rules/rulemaking-regulatory-reform-proceedings/fair-debt-collection-practices-act-text#809

Since we know they can be stubborn,we want to hit them with a very large and painful club. Here is a plan of attack for id theft:
1. Go to ftc.com and click on id theft link.
2. Download id theft affidavit, fill out,and have 5 copies notarized.
3. Bring one notarized copy to police station nearest you and request a police report to support your statement.
4. You will need 5 copies of police paperwork.
5. Mail 1 copy of police report with notarized affidavit to collection agency certified return receipt.
6. Keep one set for you.
7. Mail 1 copy of report and notarized affidavit to each credit bureau with a letter stating this is a id theft account. They will place a fraud alert in your files, but that is no big deal.Make sure to send this certified return receipt also.
8. If they are on your reports anywhere, identify in your letter to bureau that this is a Facta id dispute and account must be surpressed.

What I have just walked you thru is the procedure in the Facta amendment to the fair credit reporting act.So the law is on your side to give you a good resolution. If collection agency gives you problems after this, they will be violating fdcpa & fcra with some good damages they would have to pay you for not complying.

Can anyone post a link to an explanation of what a validation letter needs to have in it? I've just had a collection notice post to my credit report and want to make sure that its legitimate before doing anything. Also, what are the chances that i'll be able to get this removed from my credit report if i agree to pay immediately......

David,I am unsure of their level of evidence.I would fight them purely on principle. To answer a summons you will need legal assistance. Normaly you would file your answer to their complaint with the courthouse and mail them a copy. If you wish to proceed, you will need to go to your courthouse and ask the clerk what are the rules of civil procedure for court. Then you can read up on them. If uncomfortable with legal headaches, explore option of getting a lawyer to file for you or contacting legal aid. I would not give them a dime until they can prove it is your debt.

Hi,
I just got a letter advising me that this law firm represents my creditor (Palisades Collection LLC of HSBC) which is the recent purchaser of my account. They alledge me that I owe a referenced balance amounting to $1446.33. I don't know what HSBC is. They sent it to my address but they got my name right except for my middle initial is wrong. I don't know how they got my address. Any suggestion on what I should do?

I have been harranged since 2005... Palasides stating I had a collection billing for 2004 in a town I dont even live in!! The bill is for 3 hundred some odd dollars (dont have it on me). It not really just the money, it is a REALLY BIG principle here. I have never in my life had AT&T or Palisades as a debtor. I have never had an account with either, ever. Why are they connecting me to a phone acct with AT&T?? I have called the number they have called the phone number, I am being sot after for, and it is a weird toned busy signal. I also am researching the address listed for said billing and it is a business complex where they stated a "Paula Johnson" aquired service thru AT&T. They have the correct last for digits of my SS #, they will not tell me the other digits they supposidly have. I have never lived at the bogus (strip mall/business complex) address they give listed on the AT&T billing. The address isnt even in my town of residence. Interesting, I contacted them, nicely, at the first notice I received. They acted like oh so sorry, let us get you out a fraud report to fill out... well, I said how can this be fraud, I am not having any other issues!! They said they would send me out a one anyway, and that I have to go to the police and report it etc. I explained to them, nicely, that they have the wrong name connected to that phone, I believe. They said no, that they have my SS#, surprized I asked what it was, they said well, we cant give that out, so they asked me and I told them the last 4digits. They then said that that was correct!! I was amazed, how did they get that?? I then asked them for my moms maiden name , they didnt have that!!! I called AT&T and I asked them, they "cheated" and looked me up, and said they did not give them that SS# as those digits were different than what they had. I called back, and told them what AT&T said, but palisades was having no part of it, they said they have the right one. What BS is that??? Okay, knowing these people must be just having fun, basically enjoying there ability to harrange innocent citizens!! Later...... I send them a letter to clarify that it is not my bill, and re-enerated to them that they have the wrong person. Then.... never heard from them for MONTHS, Never sent me a fraud report to fill out or anything.... what I got was a letter stating I wanted validation of my bill, in which they sent me a statement from AT&T... no signature nothing else, just had a name, simalar to mine (as I always use my middle "two " initials with my name, on all matters). In this letter with it , they send a fraud form for me to fill out. THIS FORM WANTS MY FULL SS#, DRIVERS LICENSE???? How scary is that, noooo I wont give that to them. ... ah ok, so I see some ideas here but, my point is; why do I have to go through all of this for a bogus debt??? I can prove I am an upstanding citizen, my credit report shows I am a good, on time payor with all whom I have dealt with thus far... over 45 years, and I can prove where I have lived, as I own my property!!! This is frustrating and I feel sick from it!

I've been dealing with a supposed debt from Verizon from over 6 years ago. I received a random phone call asking for payment, I requested proof in writing of the debt. They sent it to an address that I haven't lived at in over 10 years, rather than the current address provided. They then immediately hit my credit report rather than giving me the 30 days to review, what seems to be against the law.

I have called Palisades every day for over a week, sitting on hold for 30 minutes + each time, never reaching anyone. Ridiculous. I've faxed as well each day requesting a phone call, no response. I'm trying to buy a house and am told that the time and trouble to continue to dispute the debt is not worth the $115 to just pay it. But I can't get them on the phone to settle it in writing and send the certified mail & check. I'm frustrated and at a loss for what to do.

It was disturbing to read the karma police acting as if requesting validation was basically uncalled for. Should we then just trust anybody on the other end of the line that wants money and our credit card #? Apparently he has never been victim to agencies who are falsely claiming debts and harrassing people. I suppose karma will take care of that right?

I'm fixing to get papers served on me from Palisades collection. I've seen were they have filed papers but it doesn't mention the amount or anything. At this time I'm avoiding the papers. I don't have a job and go to school full time. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?

I recently checked my credit rating with 3 agencies and was unpleasantly surprised to find one bad mark from Palisades Collection Agency on all 3 reports. This company is claiming that I owe over $500 for an old ATT account. I have never had an ATT account and all of my other accounts are and always have been in good standing. I disputed this with Experion and got a letter this week that said they had validated the claim and had not removed the item from my credit report. I am now going to take the advice from this bulletin board and approach Palisades directly for validation of the claim. I spoke to someone from Palisades (it was a miracle that I actually was able to speak to a living breathing human) on the phone today who found my account number so that I could properly reference the claim and this person quoted my current home address to me. This leaves me with the suspicion that this is fraud. But it also begs the question that if Palisades Collection Agency have my address, then why have they NEVER sent me ANYTHING to chase this claim which is at most 2.5 years old (based on the last time I checked my credit rating and this was not there). I will need to refinance my mortgage at the end of the year and am very concerned that my credit score may impact my ability to secure the rate that I should be able to get (esp with all of the current problems in the subprime mortgage market). Lastly, I am wondering if there are any reputable legal firms that will take on a case like this and take payment on the basis of a win? or are they all fee based regardless of the outcome? thanks for any advice you can provide.

I've had my credit report hit too with no justification and is negatively affecting my credit. After reading all of this, can't somebody do something to show that this company is operating fraudulently??? I feel helpless, but seems like we should all stand together and continue to go after them.

I have had perfect credit for years. I worked hard after my divorce to clean it up and pay everything current. Now a thing pops up on my report from Palisades. I have never heard of them and no clue what this is. They say a Verizon account. I have not had verizon in over 5 years. I want to dispute this. They have never mailed me anything. I do not even know the number they are referring to. Does anyone have a fax number for Palisades?? Or how to disupte this? E-mail removed for your safety - Mike

Palisades is trying to get money out of me for a motorcycle that as far as I know, I am still paying Kawasaki for. I have not heard from Kawasaki and have not had any returned checks. They want more than the existing balance on my bike, and more than I even paid for the bike to be truthful. Can someone please give me their number or a way of contacting them, Please.

Palisades sued me in Oct. of 2006 for $1500 for an alleged debt with ATT. I never had an acct. with ATT. They tried to serve me at an adress where I had not resided for ten years. I knew that the statute was only for four years in FL. I sent them five registered letters over a six month period. They never replied to any of my inquieries. I went to court in Jan. and I was told by their local lawyer that he did not have the info I requested and he would send it soon. I never heard from them. I went to court again on May 2,2007 and I was informed that the case was dropped. All I can say to you all is that you must fight them and GO TO COURT. They win most cases because people don't show up and they get a default judgement. They are running a nationwide scam! joe fish, Fla.

I received a bill from palisades in nov of 2006. it was such a small amount that i just paid it. previously when i've paid collection accounts right away they don't even report it. then in april of 2007 it appeared on my credit report stating that it's paid. however, it also said it was in collections as of april 2007. how can it be in collections in april if i already paid them like 6 months before?? when i called them they said that it's reported properly. can they report it as still being in collections 6 months after it's been paid? also, they said the date doesn't matter since it says it's paid, but when my credit report is reviewed it looks like i was delinquent 6 months more recently than i was. any advice?

These guys have been calling me for about a month with an automated voice message saying "This is not a sales call please call ..." So I wrote it off because I was never at a place where a pen was handy. So I was finally able to call the number today and asked who I supposedly owed money to. I couldn't understand the lady because she was Indian but she said ".... (something) Greg" then we were cut off. For the rest of the morning I prowled the internet to find a phone number. I used 201-567-5648 to call and get a customer support line (by the way if you call make sure you enter in a number of importance because if you try customer support you will get a voice mail. Same with disputes you'll sit on the phone for an hour waiting for someone to answer instead I hit the button for paying a balance not only did I get someone in America but I didn't have to wait.) The customer support line number is 1-800-873-5648 I tried the customer support option no dice there so I called back and put that I was trying to pay. The guy asked for my social and I refused to give it to him. I said that I would give him the phone number they had been calling. I gave it to him and he said that nothing came up that there was no balance. He then asked for my name first and last and started going through street addresses...mine wasn't in there. Strange since when I called earlier and gave them my phone number something showed up but now it isn't there. I've never gotten a credit report because I've never owned a credit card, and I pay my bills. So if this company shows up on my credit report whenever I decide to get one there will be a problem. If anyone has experienced something similar to my situation and still had problems let me know.

Thank You

being harassed too. Received 10 calls from these people, because they are so damn irritating! Its a recorded call when you answer; and they say its "not sales call, call 1-800-414-8319". God i want to throttle them.

I checked my credit history and I dont see anything posted by them under any name. I do have two accounts with HSBC; one is closed and the other one is in good standing. So I dont know why they'd be calling.

I am however paying off a collection debt that was levied against me, but that is in progress and I've been paying on that for the last 6 months.

I tried getting away from this company and turn to Cingular Wireless who now becomes Simple Worthless as they are now the new AT&T who turned the account I supposedly closed over to Pallisades Collection agency. They are ruining my credit as I believe I owe AT&T nothing and cannot get them to go away. The only thing they should be charging me for would be to break the contract ahead of time. I am trying to get the issue resolve from all angle and cannot get this done. This is has now become my worst nightmare
