I'm considering Ch 13 (can't qualify for ch 7) . My partner and I have over $93k in credit card debt, plus a second house that's upside down by $50k. A friend told us about Credit Consumer Counseling (the non-profit group) and said to consider that. Anyone thoughts?

Consumer Credit Counseling is a debt management company, not unlike other "for profit" debt management companies. In some cities, it is actually supported by the United Way. Most have a far better reputation and I know some CA's will only approve payment plans via CCCS. However, the plans are done only in voluntary cooperation with your creditors so if you have creditors who do not wish to participate, that is their option. Also they will not handle secured creditors. You still run the risk of being sued.
