They claim there is a charge, listed, I have yet to find it. I was charged 12.00. I have called them, but I even though I was told that I have been unsubcribed, I do not feel very good about it!

I checked my credit card account online and saw the $12.00 charge. After reading through this thread, I called my credit card company to ask to put a hold on my account until I called CIC, and was automatically transferred to the credit card company's fraud alert division. Luckily, the company removed the charge from my account and are issuing me a new card so it looks like I am in the clear for now. I had a quick conversation with the person from the fraud alert divsion, and she stated that they have received quite a few calls from customers mentioning this unauthorized withdrawl and are investigating where the charges come from.

the charges come from Experian. Have you ever gone to freecreditreport.com (not to be confused with www.annualcreditreport.com , the FTC's FACT Act request site) and requested your 3 in 1 credit report?? This is a service of Experian. When you click you agree, you agree to sign up for their credit monitoring service for $12.99/month. It can be easily canceled by calling them and telling them to cancel your membership.

FTC has fined Experian for the misleading nature of the site, and they have made a a minor attempt to clarify this, but they still don't make it clear enough.

They have it in hard to read writing i've noticed since their class action law suit filed a few years back. The writing is there (of course it is hard to read), but it is there. It WASNT before. ALWAYS read the fine print.

I current have 3 pending charges for $34.95 each on my credit card. The number they give you is no good. Even the bank is cooperating with them. The bank refuses to do anything about it. This is out right fraud.

We have had the same charges and called our credit card company who said it is possible fraud and canceled our credit cards. Class action suit filed.

I ordered the one time credit report thing.

I cancelled immediately....but that was 9 months ago.

I checked my bank statement to find out that they have been charging me for the last 9 months, even though i had cancelled the same day i signed up.

What a ripoff.

I'm bent!

CIC just took $12.95 out of my checking account and I haven't even heard of them! My husband got a free credit report once and now somehow they got my name and account number. Does anyone know their web address so I can possibly contact them and end this?

This is a credit monitering service that allows you to sign in on their website to keep a check on your credit report. All you have to do to cancel it, is call Experian as it is part of their entity--they will give you a cancel confirmation number also. No more debiting your checking account electronically.

I too had this problem last year... you need to call the number shown on your credit card (877-481-6825) and unsubscribe your membership. I was told that you can only be refunded one charge, but that I needed to mail a copy of my affected statements to the following address, along with my customer number (given to me by the CIC Triple Advantage representative), and a letter stating that I would like my money refunded.

Here is the address, but I would recommend first calling CIC Triple Advantage:

Consumer Relations
PO Box 19729
Irvine, CA 92623-9729

All of this came about from signing up for a "free" credit report on their website and not removing my "membership" from their database within the 30-day trial period. Therefore, I received a $12 charge every month thereon. I also understand that this company (if that's what you want to call them) is not listed with the Better Business Bureau, but that they have thousands of complaints listed against them, which don't do any good.

Good luck!!! Make sure to tell all your friends & family!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I had the same problem you all are having. I was 'enrolled' without my authorization back in May... thats 6 months of charges --12.95 a month!! Anyway I searched the billing company "CIC Triple Advantage" and came up with this site..so I then called them! 1-877-481-6825. Now these are the most slimy and unhelpful people ever BUT I got a complete refund 77.70 dollars! You just need to be strong with them, not baligerant, but steadfast without taking no for an answer! Ask to speak with the supervisor, repeatedly if necessary, tell them youve filed a report with the Better Business Bureau, that it was an unauthorized transaction AND that youve found THIS SITE and know that more than 1500 reports have been filed against this company!

I had to call 3 times and get the boss out of a "conference" to get refunded but it worked! They'll tell you to mail in a claim to 'Consumerinfo/crg PO 19729, Irvine CA, 92623-23 and to call (949)567-3853 which is simply an answering machine, so DONT DO IT, just stay on the phone and get it done through through the 877 number! So anyway I hope this helps, lets not let this company get away with it! They know what they're doing, they'll just play dumb!

MAN! They try to keep you by any means necessary!! I spoke with 'Marion'... she tried to persuade me to stay with the benefits, having access to the report all the time and THEN at $25 gift card... I was like NO Marion just cancel the account today I do not WANT the gift card OR the membership!! *sigh* well we wil see a month from now if they charge me again!

I called them as for the past 9 months they have been taking 9.95 from my credit card saying i'm a monthly member to consumerinfo.com
I told them to cancel it as I don't want to be a paying member any longer and she said she cancelled it right away. I let them know if they didn't take me off as a paying member I would file a complaint with the ftc, a dispute letter, and report them to the police.
These people are liars and they are trying to get over on people. Plain and simple.

I can't stand companies like that.

Same as all you guys-noticed the charge--called and cancelled-1877-481-6826.they tried to get me to reconsider...told them no several times till she agreed to cancel...waiting to see if they charge me again next month --if they do i'll have to change my cards...what a ripoff for just wanting to see your credit report.-12.95 month.for 5 months.hope the nightmares over.

I also was charged monthy for "credit monitoring". This was definately a result of signing up for a "free" credit report. I too did not read the fine print closely enough. So I called the 800 # to get this cancelled. Jane was her name and she tried her best to get me to keep this service. Even went so far as to tell me I could get another "free" copy of my credit report and only pay half for the monthly charge. I had to tell her over and over and over NO NO NO NO. She finally gave up. I did tell her I knew nothing was free, and I don't know how I ever fell into this trap. To everyone, call the 800 # on your statement and cancel this rip off service. Be prepared for them to try to get you to stay. Good luck everyone.

I just found the charge too. I called and got it canceled, but such a practice is clearly misleading.

I would encourage all of you to go to the FTC site, http://www.ftc.gov/ and file a complaint. It takes about five minutes online and perhaps if enough folks do, this practice will end.

It is a sad day for all, when one of the 3 credit reporting agencies that our financial lives are governed by, is ripping us off. Our credit files are in the hands of these dishonest sneaky agencies. I would have NEVER thought this was possible. And it seems there is not a damn thing we can do about it. How messed up is that? Doesn't give me much hope that any disputes on credit reports will be handled fairly. I am very discouraged.

I actually subscribe to Experian's Credit Expert, which is what you're being billed for (3 in one monitoring). You can contact them at 866-673-0140 24/7 and actually get a live person.
Thats the number you need to call to cancel and address the issue of billing.
Best of luck.

Experian
P.O. Box 2104
Allen, Texas 75013
customerservice(at)credfitexpert.com

They charged me $92.57 for my "free" credit report within the first 10 minutes. Go to Rip-off Reports.com and file and report with them, too. There are 1,470 other complaints about them. You can also go to consumerwatch(at)cbs5.com, report them there. The more reports on these rip-off artists, the better the chances of them being exposed. You also might want to call your Attorney General's Office in your state and ask them to send you a complaint form. I am doing all the above plus more.I will let you know how things turn out, but PLEASE file a report at Rip-off Report.com, as this is where the Attorney Generals, BBB, other authorities go to see how consumers are being taken care of. It embarrasses them into having to do something about companies like this.

I am a about to make a complaint to morrow for about a year of charges. With so many complaints, these guys deserve a class action law suit and without a doubt they would lose to all these thousands of people who got ripped off.

Wow, I'm so glad I found this forum! I am in the same boat, and now I am so mad at these people because they've been doing the same stuff to me. I kept wondering how my account was off by so much all the time. They've taken it out twice in one month for me, and I never signed up for anything but the free credit report either.

I was ripped off by these people too and got my bank to reverse the transaction. I told the bank that I wanted to sign an affidavit for fraudulent activity in my account, and that under Federal Regulation E, they had to reverse the charges. If they don't, report them to your banking commission. Every state has one. Mine is the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Institutions. I did report the bank in order for them to cooperate.

The thing is they go by many names and all are owned
by Experian. Some of the names are: CIC, CreditExperts, consumerinfo.com, Credit Manager,
CIC Triple Advantage, Experian.

Some of their phone no. are:

877-481-6825
800-220-2626
877-481-6826
866-841-6376
888-397-3742
866-673-0140
866-252-8818

I reported them to the FTC, and they basically told me to get a lawyer. I reported them to the BBB, and they basically told me that while they thought the way they advertised was "questionable" they thought that the company did a thorough job of investigating
their own reports! The local news people are the ones that are helping me, you might want to talk to them. But first, file a report at "Rip-off Reports.com" under CIC . There are 1,889 other people, including myself, that filed reports.Hope this helps.

Kathy V.

LCW

This info from LCW is correct I called Experian and gave a stern tone of voice to cancel the membership, I wanted no hassels just cancel the account. I told him there better not be anymore charges to my credit card. If there was anymore charges I would call back with a very angry tone of voice. Here is the phone number to call to cancel membership.
CANCEL MEMBERSHIP
If you would like to cancel your membership, for your security, please call our toll-free number at 1-877-481-6826. then press 1.
Demand it to be canceled! They will try to keep your business anyway possible even try to give you a free month of service.

they repeatively charge us and refused to refund when we found out. You have to call their 800 numbers (shown on Bill) every month to warn them and also your own credit card company to make sure they don't do this over and over.

Same problem here, but my bank was able to refund back to 6 months and stop future charges without cancelling the card or putting a hold on it. Ask your bank to do the same.
