Ok, National Action Financial Services have made the first initial call today around 8:30 this morning. I have no idea who they're calling about (me or my wife) since the phones in her name. I refuse to talk to this guys from National Action Financial Services at all. I've chased off allied interstate, Merchants and now these goons. I do not have an account number for an alleged debt that they say one of owes. I need to send a C&D letter but no account number. Can I just send this with out the account and use the phone # they called us at. I've seen numerous posts and these are the lowest scumbags. The automated message just said that "You must call 866-529-1899 as it is VERY important to someone named "Gotto or Gotty" Da ha funny. Can someone please advise. Thank you.

NAFS is the worst collection agency I have ever dealt with. I had the "honor" of dealing with them several years ago. I had a charged off account that was bought by Cap One. I was making payments to them through the Westmoreland Agency. They were sending me statements, and I was making payments every month with no problem. Out of the blue I get a call from someone named Delvin if I remember correctly. He wants twice as much as my last statement balance from Westmoreland. I told him I was making payments, and he informed me that they did not count, as he owmed the account now. I could not even call Cap One according to him because they purged their files when he bought the account from them. I was still getting my statements and making my payments to Westmoreland. He finally called me on a Saturday morning and I had enough. I told him that I wanted to conference with Westmoreland, but I did not have three way calling. He told me that could not be done. Strange, he tried to make me do that another time, and got mad because I would not give him the number. I hung up with him and called Westmoreland and spoke with a very calm and rational gentleman, and explained my situation. He told me that the account had been contracted to NAFS, but they still owned it. He told me he would call Delvin and get it straightened out, and recall the account. I nver heard from NAFS again, although I did have an urge to call them back a week later and find out how they were doing. Decided it was probably not a good idea. Now, I would not have a problem with it, seeing how they treat people.

Allen, close your account and open a new one. NEVER give your banking information to a CA, NEVER agree to making payments unless it is in writing on a company letterhead and signed by a manager. Then you can send them a money order if you like. Go to your bank and tell them your money was stolen by these crooks and tell them to replace your funds.

An alternative to dealing with NAFS or any other collection agency is to contact the creditor who you had the account with directly and arrange to pay through them. I had 2 very traumatic experiences with collection agencies one almost resulted in filing a lawsuit. Therefore, I refuse to deal with them. Period end of story. I don't care what the situation is. If I owe money fine I pay it. But, I always go back to the original creditor first and work it out with them and tell the agency to take a hike. My credit is great now but it wasn't always this way and I have had some major problems in the past. It might take some time to clean up your credit but its alot quicker and alot less painful if you do it yourself and avoid the agencies.

I am paying them off right now, they sent me a settlement offer of1700 plus change on a 5000 chase bill. I sent them a certified debt validation which they answered correctly and promptly and have been nothing but a great help. But then of course i have only had to deal with one person. So that may be the difference. I have made 2 payment and have 4 more to go.
