My husband received a writ of garnishment today. he received a notice back in Dec about a suit against him for 241.00 medical debt. i sent the letter back stating that he agreed to pay the debt a few days ago but the firm handling the case said it had already been to court and garnishment had been decided. he didn't get a court date. i asked ti make a payment arrangement but they said it had to be paid in full. if i send a partial payment anyways can my husbands wages still be garnished?

Hi, I was hoping somebody could help me out here with some useful info. I stopped paying student loan payments about 6 months ago because it just wasn't working. I couldn't get ahead. I needed to save to buy a semi-reliable car to keep my job. I make enough money to pay my rent, car payment, credit card bills, food, cell phone, gas, and other small essentials. I was finally getting in a position to be able to get back to paying student loans and now I learn that I am in defualt. I figured it was coming but couldn't do much about it.

I have just filed 4 complaints w/ both of these entities and was curious re: some things: *typical timeframe for case to be started up? *willing to work w/ you -- as see some post re: other states that the AG or Financial Regulation is unwilling to work w/ out of state (internet) PDLs and tells the borrower to contact another state & see other states (W. Va & others that fight for the PIFs and refunds) *luck w/ getting refunds (I am owed btw $1,000 and $2,000 for each of these after I subtract what I borrowed from what I paid) - so am dealing with some serious money.

So I am pretty much in $2000 worth of debt in unpaid bills. While that originally is not much, I have recently had hours cut at work and am unable to keep up with the bills as the late fees outpace me. What are my options? I have no idea what to do.

I am in a payday loan nightmare. Someone told me Internet payday loans are legal in la. I am closing my checking acct tomorrow. I know that is the first step, but I want to make sure they can't legally do anything to me. I am more than willing to pay what I owe, but I have paid I've 2000 dollars to some that I only borrowed 500 from. Am I just up a creek without a paddle or is there something I can do. :confused:

So my story is: I got myself into a jam and ended up having not paying any of my accounts. I continuted making payments to Citifinancial, only because they had a secured interest on my vehicle, until it died, at which point I let them repo it. The plan was to declare BK. Found a place to give me another car loan. The last payment I made was in March of 2011 to Citi, the rest of the accounts were mid-late 2010.

It wants him to click on a link to view or download a letter that is for him. It seems unusual. Maybe a scam or do collection agency's email too lol?

So, I had a Capital One card in 2009. I think my limit was around $350. It was charged off and sent to a law firm / collection agency (Farrell and Seldin if anyone has been so lucky). Anyway, I paid them about half of the balance that had been turned over to them and then I had other things come up so I stopped paying. Around June 2011 they began sending a man to my door under the guise of "serving" me. I never answered the door or accepted any papers and the last time the guy came around in July, I think my husband scared him off.
