Payday loan advice

13 years 11 months ago
I took out a payday loan from 2 companies last year. After I took them out I lost my job and couldn't find work making enough many to make the payments and live. Since then I have become disabled and living off of social security. The bank account that was used has since been closed. 10 months after taking out the loan, they have called my friend saying that they are from a law office with a summons and needed to get ahold of me to serve me. I read a lot online about the so called law office and found them to be a scam.

Student Loan Garnishment

13 years 11 months ago
[FONT=Arial Narrow][SIZE=4]SoapLady- I see that you have a wealth of knowledge on the student loan default process- I am currently in default- I have recently had my wages garnished, tax refund was taken this year and I have made several attempts to work with the agency that is now holding my loans- I have asked for statements of what my current balance is- and they have not responded. I have requested to have monthly or quarterly statements mailed to me to see where my money that has been garnished is going- nothing.

National

13 years 11 months ago
Back in Nov. I received a call at work reguarding a loan I took out with Payday 1. It was a company called National. I took out a loan with Payday 1 in 2010 for $400. The guy that called me said they were going to send to court to garnish my wages. They offered to settle for $100 a month and only charge me $400. Of course, I jumped at the offer. I already paid $100 to them in Dec. I wasn't able to make any payments in Jan. Now, I am being threaten to get taken to court again. The only problem is I never got any paperwork from them concerning our agreement or to verify the debt.

PRG - very strang phone call

13 years 11 months ago
Hi All - anyone heard of a a PRG? I've never heard of them and don't have this in any of the few debts I am settling. I got a very seedy phone call today at work and then on my cell phone (not sure why this got out there as my number). It was from a gentleman named "Jacob" who spoke very hush and about a debt with a file. No amount, no explanation...just to call back, the debt was with PRG and that I was being served in a court case. He then said to call back this number : 877-509-0396 about the file or I will be served.

getting sued by capital one, don't know what to do!

13 years 11 months ago
I'm new here, so I will make this as brief as possible. A few years ago my husband was working and I got a cc in my name only. I did make a couple of payments but my husband lost his job so I just stopped paying. Fast forward a year later he got another job but with much less wages. We were able to get our home loan modified. I think my credit limit was 500 on the card. I really never thought of it because we were thinking about bankruptcy later this year. Well, last week I got a lot of letters in the mail from attorneys saying I was being sued!

Cash Call - old loan, emails, lawsuit?

13 years 11 months ago
Hello All. I took out a loan with Cash Call over five years ago. I defaulted over three years ago after paying more than I ever borrowed. Every once in a while I get an email (no mail, no calls) to my work email addy from Eric Smith at Smith and associates in Poland Ohio. I found a website, but many links look generic on it. I can't find any info on the BBB site. Today I received a Final offer before lawsuit or response to order on garnishment. Does this sound like a bad collection scam?
