is this debt collection of america

This is the second time asking this question. Hopefully, it'll get posted this time. I recently received within the last 2 weeks, a settlement offer from BofA to settle my debt at 50% and one from Citibank to settle for 25%. Is it unusual to receive a settlement offer so low from Citibank? I've never even fought or negotiated with them. Should I hold out on the BofA offer in order to settle for less than 50%?

This is the second time that I ask a question that doesn't get posted. There must be some glich going on here. Has anyone had this happen to them? To whom should I bring this to the attention to?

I live in NY. Had payday loans for several years. I had enough and stopped paying them several years ago. Since NY has usury interest cap, what are your feelings on writing off the excess interest as a casualty loss on taxes? Acording to IRS, if the loss is due to fraud as defined by your state, it is a loss. According to NYS, violating usury cap is fraud?? Thanks!

If I wrote a check for 1500 that was dated 2009 and deposited into an atm in 2010, and subsequently the check was returned for account closed. The funds I owed bank was 450 which I paid. Can they now come after me for check fraud. The bank has just realized all this happened because I opened a new bank account at that same bank. Just curious if they legally can come after me since the check was dated 2009, transaction took place in 2010, I paid them monies owed. Please respond as soon as possible

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"][/FONT]I had a run in with B of A. They got me to open an account with an unbelievably low interest rate. In the fine print is where they put the rape clause that if a payment POSTS late to the account the rate went to almost 15%. The beginning rate was 2.5%. It went on to say if it happened a second time in a year, it would rise to 29.5% or more. They posted 2 different payments late. One by 1 day and one by 2 days. The red flag for me was that I mailed both of these payments earlier than any other payments I had ever sent them.

Paul, new forum member. Saw a previous post where you were offering some info for another member in the payday loan trap. Wondering if I could pick your brain for more info? I fell into mess when I needed fast cash to pay high insurance deductible after serious injury (horse tried to remove my left hand). Friends who owned animal admitted negligence, agreed to pay in writing, telling me if I could get money to have needed treatment after ER visit, they would reimburse all when they got back into country.
