I have a question regarding 1009 and insolvency. My mother has two investment properties that are being foreclosed on. It's basically inevitable. I know she will receive 1099's for the forgiven debt since the banks need to get that off of their books. My question is.. what happens if she cannot pay the taxes on those 1099's? She's basically unemployed, lives with me and has no assets. Just a 1999 minivan. What can she do? I heard that you prove insolvency if your liabilities are greater than your assets...

I agree the BBB isnt necessarily a great barometer of determining of whether a company is good or not.

Hi all, I've been stuck in the pdl cycle for over a year, and I only recently found out that Magnum Cash is illegal in Ohio. I emailed the C&D letter and I am going to my bank first thing in the morning to see the manager. However, I have done all the math and I have borrowed around $2,000 from Magnum Cash and paid over $4,000 back to them. To my understanding I can go after them for overpayment? If I post all my loans and payments with them, could someone please help me figure out how much they owe me? To date, I have borrowed a total of $2325 from them.

I received a settlement payment offer from AFNI for a Quest phone bill. I paid the settlement amount thinking this would now close this account. Now I recevied a collection letter from another agency for the same debt saying I owe even more. Isn't the settlement amount a ligitament request or did they just do that to get money from me. What should I do?

I'm in deep debt and need to figure out what to do and whom to trust. My income is much lower the past three years than I have had in a long time. I believe my CC debt is over 80,000 and that's more than I made the past two years, I have only missed a couple of payments and believe my credit score has fallen below 700. I've seen a couple posts on the topic, so thought maybe you could help. Last year, I started on the lovely process of being sued by Discover via Bishop, White and Marshall (BWM). I am in Jackson county Oregon, they Washington. I filed my answer, on time, with affirmative defenses. I also requested validation, which they failed to respond to in time. In Oregon, we have mandatory arbitration. Arb was scheduled for Dec last year. My husband went to jail a couple days before arb and I missed it.

My Cash Center has said that they have placed an alert on my driver's license and social security number. What does this mean or is it a threat to get me to call them?
