:?:I keep receiving calls from this group. They do not indicate who they are calling for, saying only it is an urgent matter and I need to return the call. Since they don't identify the person to whom they wish to speak, I refuse to return their call. Couild this create a problem for me down the road?. Since I regularly received calls from debt collectors for people I don't know, I generally ignore such calls.

I have had at least 10 calls from this co stating i owed an energy co 500.00 I called texpo my past energy co spoke with anna emp # 792 and was reassurred my aCCT 21564 had 0 bal and never a late pay...they are investigating this co, as had not used them..my next action is bbb. toni fugleberg..Ps they were stating that I had not pd sept 2008..lol as hurricane ike came through my property and did nmot have power for 60 days.

Hello. This morning I received a letter stating that Citibank has retained Burton Neil to collect on my AT&T universal card balance of $22K. I think i'm at about 120 days on this account. I'm with Oak View law group, helping me with my settlements. All the letter states is the balance and that i need to pay them within 30 days. Not a lawsuit at this point. I will be forwarding the letter to my contact at Oak View shortly. I'm really worried. Am I on the way to being sued? Is there any hope here?

Hello, I am in Maryland and I received a call from AS and Associates last night, and he was telling me that I owed $550 to them by 1/07/10 by 11am or they were turning me over to the local authorities. When I informed them of by current situation of being unemployed they told me to ask to borrow the money from someone. I have never written a bad check before and he told me that not only would I go to jail for this but it would also be on my permanent record as a Class B Misdemeanor. When I asked if I could set up payment arrangements he told me there was nothing he could do for me.

I paid off a Dillards debt in beteween my last deployment in 2005 and closed the account. Later ,after the deployment and exstension ( 2007) I got a letter from LVNV comapny saying I owed them money. I though it was a fraudulant scam.... after a while I called and found out it was for my DILLARDS account. On the phone the LVNV rep looked up the dates and amount I said I all ready paid DILLARDS and she confirmed that it was in the records that I had paid it to DILLARDS, butthat They had bought the debt from DILLARDS.

Here's the (kind of) short of it: I obtained a loan through MBNA in 2000; shortly thereafter, due to personal- and health-related reasons, I was no longer able to make payments, so the account eventually got charged off and sold to HILCO Receivables for collection. While HILCO did perform the original collection attempts, they eventually began farming the account out to various other collectors (Northland Group, Genesis Financial, Apex Financial, Weltman, Weinberg & Reis, etc.).

Hey everyone. I've found myself in a bit of a pickle, and am curious if anyone has any advice. I got my first pay day loan from Check City in Feb. of 2010. Everything went smoothly. I was working at a car dealership at the time. I continued getting loans when I needed them. I changed jobs in April, but was never asked to update my work information, so my records with CC stayed the same. I was laid off in July, and continued to get loans through CC to help keep my bills paid, and was always able to pay them off... Until last month.
