Installment Agreement/1099

15 years 2 months ago
I have a Citi credit with about $11.5k due on it. Due to me losing my second job, I've decided to attempt debt settlment with all of my credit card companies. Citi just offered me a settlement agreeement of 21% after only 6 months! I'm going to jump on it, but I was wondering about the 1099 implications and how we're at the end of year. I'm sure I can satisfy the IRS' "insolvent" clause, but would the 1099 be filed for the current tax year or will it be generated when the agreement has been completely paid off (the 21%).

Payday One and National Credit Adjusters,LLC

15 years 2 months ago
I had a prior loan with Payday One which has now been turned over to National Credit Adjusters I did detemine that Payday Loans are illegal in the state in which I reside.. As a result, I determined that paying the principle on my Payday one loan wasn't a priority. I had other PDLs which I wanted to pay on the principle first. Can anyone tell me about National Credit Adjusters? Do they have the ability to sue me or just to harass me?

What can I do about MCM?

15 years 2 months ago
Here's the quick review: 14 years ago I had 2 credit cards that were turned over to MCM (Midland Credit Management). The original debt was for $150 and $350 which then grew to over $6,000 with all their fees and such. Needless to say those were fought and nothing came of it. I chose not to have any credit cards, checking accounts, etc till about 5 months ago. I opened a checking account and was offered a credit card which I accepted. I also received a free credit report from all 3 credit agencies which had nothing on them. Once I opened my account I started getting phone calls from MCM.

Calling a PDL after sending cease and desist

15 years 2 months ago
A couple of the PDLs I have wont let me back in my account to check on anything. The ones in question have an 800# to contact them. I want some kind of confirmation that they wont debit my account. Email response has not happened yet. Would calling the 800# be a bad idea?

Credit Report Question

If you have a collection account that is not listed in the Trade Lines, but us listed in the collections section. Will it be removed if the item is paid in full and they report it paid in full to the Credit Reporting Agency.

How long to wait for collection to respond?

15 years 2 months ago
My wife has a credit card that went to a collection agency. I sent them an offer for settlement but it has been 33 days and we have not heard from them. How long should I wait before sending another offer. Or should I send another offer?

being served

15 years 2 months ago
Does anyone call you first to tell you you are going to be served papers for a civil matter? I keep getting these calls from a Michael Smith (doesnt say from where) telling me that he needs me to sign some papers for a civil matter that I am being served for. He gave a number for me to call back (877-404-4780) and when I called it they said they were Hicks and Associates. I have some old PDL (all internet and I live in PA). I have already cancelled my bank account - but jsut wondering if this is a legit matter?

Does an account closed by the Issuer always hurt your credit score?

15 years 2 months ago
I just got a letter from HSBC today, canceling my credit card for two reasons: Delinquency or derogatory trade line. Number of installment trades or installments not paid as agreed. After calling them up and talking to them, they told me that the closure was in regards to other items on my credit report, and not the account with them. Which by the way is PERFECT. No late payments, no missed payments, and a zero balance as of august. I'm actually quite certain that the zero balance for the last 4 months is the reason that the account was actually closed.
